Ever After Awaits

    bChapter /bb110/bb: /bbHunter /bbPOV /b

Cade says, “Just wait ‘til dessert,” and the whole room shifts around us.

La doesn’t flinch imuch /ibut blushes prettily as she lifts her fork, as if nothing in her world is currently on fire.

    But mine is.

I watch from where I sit next to her — how her lips wrap around the bite of food, slowly and deliberately–like she knows exactly what she’s doing to me, and exactly what she started this morning.

Worst of all, I haven’t been right since.

The rest of my day on campus was absolute torture. Every step was a silent war between the man I kept trying to be and the one who wanted to go and find her in whatever lecture hall she was, drag her back into that alley, and finish what we started.

My hands haven’t stopped itching. To hold her again, to taste her properly, or to bury myself inside her and take her apart until she forgets anything else has ever touched her.

But I didn’t, because she deserved to breathe. To have her first day back without feeling like she owed us her attention every minute of it. Even if I’ve spent every second since reying her wrecked little gasp in my head like it’s a fucking prayer.

Now she’s back at this table. Wearing the same t–shirt I had had my hands underneath, caressing and toying with her perfect breast, hours ago. Her hair is up like she couldn’t be bothered to tame it, and her eyes are dancing across us all like she already knows

    she’s driving us insane.

    She is.

And not ijust /ibecause of me.

I can see it on her

    –

written in the twitch of her fingers when they graze the table, in how her thighs press together under its surface, how her breath catches when Cade leans

too close, how her shoulders tense when Xavier says something low on her other side, or how herugh falters for half a beat when AJ lifts his eyes to hers and then doesn’t look away for several beats.

She’s flustered. And it’s not just from earlier. It’s fresh and new. Stacked on top of the high I already gave her.

    And God help me

    —

    I like it.

The knowledge that the others have touched her today, kissed her, teased her–it should make me territorial, and it should make me angry.

But all it does is make me greedy.

Because now I get to y with that tension. I get to feed off it. I get to take her to the edge again and remind her whose fingers were inside her but a week ago when she couldn’t even remember her fucking name.

Xavier sips his water, and I don’t miss how his hand flexes around the ssb. /bCade’s jaw

ticks, but his smirk holds. AJ leans back in his chair, all slow calction, like he’s

nning ten steps ahead, as per usual.

And me? I grip my fork like it’s the only thing stopping me from reaching across the table, dragging her into myp, and showing everyone what she sounds like when she

    moans my name.

She suddenly shifts in her seat, crossing her legs. And even though she doesn’t say a word, her eyes flick to me, just for a second, and just long enough.

    And I know.

She’s thinking about it too. The alley, my hands, our kiss, and how I called her ‘Beautiful‘ right before I almost broke my own restraint.

And now? I want to ruin her slowly. Not in shadows or between stolen breaths—but right here, where there’s no confusion, and where she knows this isn’t just hunger, it’s ineed/i.

I force myself to eat another bite. To chew, to swallow, all while pretending my thoughts

haven’t spiraled into full–blown fantasy territory.

In the background, Cade cracks another joke, which makes Xavier roll his eyes, and AJ mutters something dry and borderline cruel.

La, though, ughs. And God, thatugh. It almost breaks me.

Because I want that sound in my mouth, while she’s under me, smiling like she knows I’d never let her fall. I want her undone all over again, except this time–I finish it. I’ll make her fall apart, and then put her back together.

“You good?” Cade asks under his breath, subtly nudging my elbow with his.

I blink before forcing a smile and shrug, before answering nomittally, “Yeah. Just

    thinking.”

He arches a brow, clearly not buying what I’m selling, but lets it go.

La pushes her chair back a little as she stretches her back, mumbling about her heavy

backpack. And even though she’s not showing off or trying to be seductive, the

movement has all four of us mesmerized.

As she pulls one arm across her body with the other, the hem of her shirt on her hip lifts just enough to reveal a sh of skin, along with the waistband of her jeans, which sit low

on those hips I love to grab onto.

    And I’m gone again.

To not embarrass both of us, I stare down at my te like it holds all the answers, but all it holds is proof that I’ve already lost my mind for this girl.

Because I can’t keep doing this, I’m no longer satisfied with halves or pieces of her. I want iall /iof her: every inch, every moan, every breath, every kiss, and every touch.

And if she still wants me the way she did this morning, I won’t stop next time,

    I won’t just touch her. I’ll itake /iher.

    Chapter 110: Hunter POV

The conversation moves ahead around me, someoneughs now and then, tes shift, utensils tter, and chairs scrape across the hardwood floor.

But I can only hear her breath, feel the electric thrum between us, and sense every move

she makes as she sits beside me.

Dessert might being. But if I get her alone first, I already know what I’ll be having, and it’ll be sweeter than anything even a Master Pastry Chef could ever create.
