Chapter 718 - 718 716 Arriving in the New World
Chapter 718: Chapter 716: Arriving in the New World Chapter 718: Chapter 716: Arriving in the New World Amber History Year 46.
In the Amber Central Region, the capital city of the Amber Federation, City of Amber, there is a quiet cemetery on the outskirts of the city.
Duke Mel Rainflower, now over seventy years old, walked into this cemetery quietly with his gray-haired wife, Lady Annie Helichrysum, without letting their children and servants accompany them.
They carried a large bouquet of flowers.
Reaching a tombstone, they pulled out a white acacia flower and bent down to place it in front of the grave.
Duke Mel squatted down, wiping the photograph on the tombstone, where Marquis Merlin gazed forward, a faint smile lingering at the corners of his mouth.
“Permanent Marquis of the Dreamshadow Flame Kingdom, Golden Laburnum Duke of the Amber Federation, Marquis Merlin Rain-Longflower rests here. From Dragon Calendar 5509, 9th of September to Amber History Year 11, 16th of July, Marquis Merlin completed his life.”
This was the inscription on the tombstone. Marquis Merlin lived to be 87 years old, he was titled the Golden Laburnum Duke after the establishment of the Amber Federation.
At the time of his death, Dragon Sleep Continent and Amber Dreamscape coexisted; thus, being both Duke of the Amber Federation and Marquis of the Dreamshadow Flame Kingdom during an era of old and new transition, where the two systems had yet to merge.
“Grandfather, Mel has come to see you,” whispered Mel, who had inherited the Golden Laburnum Duke title.
His gaze shifted from the tombstone to the long stone beside it, recording the epitaph.
“Times change, worlds separate, born in the old era, looking towards the new world, contented—Merlin Rain-Longflower.”
This was the epitaph that Marquis Merlin had written for himself.
Below it, there was another line.
“My maternal grandfather illuminates the path ahead of me, and I, carrying his legacy, will forge a new world—Russell Amber Dream.”
This was written by the great His Majesty Russell, Emperor of the Amber Federation, Lord of the Amber Dreamscape, Savior of the Dragon Sleep Continent, and Guide of the New World, for Marquis Merlin, one year before the implementation of the freezing plan.
Just a year short, had the freezing plan been implemented, Marquis Merlin could have been frozen in hibernation until he reached the Land of Starlight Eternal.
After cleaning the tombstone and the long stone of dust, Duke Mel stood up, continuing to support his gradually weakening wife’s arm, walking to the next tombstone.
In this quiet cemetery.
Buried here were members of the Fluorescent Fungi Family and Rainflower Family who had passed away, including Marquis Merlin, Lady Ingrid, Mejie Rainflower and Kuna Shadowflame couple, Roby Rainflower…
Not everyone participated in the freezing plan.
Resources were limited, and so were the spots.
Uncle Meijie of Russell’s, although he also received a spot, chose to give it up to accompany his son Mel until the end of his life.
Mel had been elected as the Cabinet Minister of Finance of the Amber Federation and needed to lead the development of the Amber Federation during the anchoring of the Land of Starlight Eternal, naturally, he could not participate in the freezing plan—it was not feasible for all leaders to be frozen.
In fact.
After cleaning all the graves, the couple walked out of the cemetery and quickly returned to their manor castle surrounded by their children and servants.
The development of Amber Dreamscape changed rapidly, now evolving into a modern era of high-rise buildings, yet the nobles still chose to live in manor castles, albeit without bonded serfs and servants anymore.
These new era servants were just in a job.
“Father, now that you have stepped down from the position of Cabinet Minister of Finance, when do you plan to participate in the freezing plan?”
Mel’s eldest son, already a pudgy middle-aged man.
Duke Mel looked towards his wife, Lady Annie smiling back, “Mel, didn’t we agree? You go into freezing, to follow the great His Majesty Russell, and I, I will stay with the children.”
“Ah, freezing is like a separation of life and death, I…” Mel struggled to part.
“Mel, don’t forget, you promised the great His Majesty Russell, to follow him, to help build the new world,” Lady Annie comforted her husband, “This frozen spot has always been kept for you.”
“Yes, Father, we will take good care of Mother!” said the eldest son.
“I…” Mel reached out, touching his wife’s now aged face, while he himself still maintained a middle-aged appearance.
Finally, he nodded slowly: “Then, let’s have one last family lunch together.”
…
Deep within the Dreamscape Volcano.
After all the procedures were signed, Duke Mel had severed his contracts with the Phantom Beasts and Flying Dragons and was placed into a cryogenic chamber.
Activate the switch.
Vapors rose in the cryogenic chamber, and soon, Duke Mel fell into a drowsy sleep and was then frozen solid.
The cryogenic chamber sank into a miraculous place, filled with a mysterious light, the abundant Origin Power of the world—this was the Origin Power of the Amber Dreamscape, refined from the Amber Great Tree.
Suddenly, the light of the Origin Power stirred a surge.
As the surge passed, dozens of hidden cryogenic chambers were revealed; through the glass of these chambers, one could see the humans lying in slumber within.
Among these chambers, six were distinct.
Not humans, but a Sacred Unicorn, Dragonbeast Hape, Infinite Ouroboros, Netherworld Nightmare Beast, Big Dream Mo, and Black Oil Two-legged Illusion Dragon were frozen inside.
These were six Phantom Dragons, all Russell’s contract partners, frozen together.
Among them, Nightmare Beast Senbula, with the help of the Dreamscape Ancient Dragon during subsequent training, successfully evolved into a Netherworld Nightmare Beast.
Dream Beast Tepp, also with the assistance of the Dreamscape Ancient Dragon, ascended to become the Big Dream Mo.
And Black Oil Dragon Ross, aided by the Flame Ancient Dragon, successfully advanced into a Black Oil Two-legged Illusion Dragon—the restraints of Bipedal Flying Dragon’s Dragon Breath were broken, all having potential for advancement, though the chances were slim.
These six special cryogenic chambers encircled a single amber-colored cryogenic chamber.
Inside the chamber, Russell sat cross-legged, not lying frozen but meditating as if engaged in deep contemplation without any signs of being frozen.
As the surge calmed, the cryogenic chambers were once more veiled by the Origin Power.
Suddenly.
The newly frozen Mel felt himself awakening, appearing amidst blue sky, white clouds, and green grass.
“Mel.” A familiar voice sounded.
Mel turned around and looked under a lush great tree, where a forever youthful Russell leaned against the trunk, leisurely sipping green tea.
“Your Majesty!” Mel exclaimed.
“This isn’t the Amber Federation; we, brothers, need no such mundane formalities, stop calling me Your Majesty,” Russell waved his hand, “Come here, tell me, how has the Amber Dreamscape developed in these thirty years of my cryosleep.”
Russell went into his slumber in the Sixteenth Year of Amber History, after everything in the Amber Federation stabilized and the anchorage to the Land of Starlight Eternal was secured.
However.
Unlike others who needed freezing for slumber, his merely required merging with the Origin of the Amber Dreamscape and didn’t need to be frozen both physically and spiritually.
Thus.
He could still create a special illusion here, pulling the newly frozen Duke Mel into it.
“All is well, Rus… Russell.” Mel looked at his own body, returned to his youthful form, “What place is this… I can’t believe there would come a day when I’d be young again.”
“I call this place the Land of Reflection, where I contemplate the future,” Russell said with a smile, having created this illusion to delve into deeper layers of Rule Power to sculpt the Amber Dreamscape towards a perfect form.
After the explanation, Russell and Mel discussed the situation in the Amber Federation.
Then the two brothers casually chatted here, reminiscing about the past, discussing the days gone by, and imagining the future, as if returning to over fifty years ago.
Back then, Grand Duke Kunstan was still alive…
“In a blink, most of my life has already passed,” Mel shook his head, “Life rarely reaches seventy, hoping when I awake again, I can see the Amber Dreamscape becoming a true new world.”
Russell smiled gently: “It will, I promise.”
