CHAPTER 97: KNIGHTS [6] - TRUE KNIGHT

Fortunately, Liora’s will had always been very firm and, having gone through many Trials during her life, her resolve had been strengthened.

Thus, she easily recovered from these inexplicable thoughts, shaking her head and jolting herself awake.

As she did, her attention turned back to herself.

Using her consciousness, she scanned her own body once again, only to see that the Life Force within her had changed completely.

Originally, her Life Force was pure green and was only the size of a fingernail, but now, it had not only gained a tinge of black, but had also grown many times larger, roughly the size of an ordinary human head.

Seeing this, Liora understood that there was no reason to wait any longer. She had already reached the peak of the Knight Apprentice rank.

Although she could indeed consume more resources and even actually train to improve her Life Force, increasing its quality and quantity any further was going to be almost impossible.

In fact, Liora had already noticed that the last ten or so resources she had devoured had barely improved her Life Force, meaning that she had pretty much reached her own limit.

"The reason I chose to become a Knight is not that I truly want to practice this power system. With my bloodline, the support of the Demon World, and the System, there’s no need for such a thing."

"The only reason I became a Knight was to help me resolve the world’s suppression, as well as to broaden my horizons and enrich my knowledge."

"As long as rushing to advance doesn’t impact my future possibilities of becoming a Great Knight, there’s no reason for me to care about things like ’accumulation’ like other Knight Apprentices."

Thinking of this, Liora showed no hesitation.

Her mind moved and entered her body, as her soul began to manipulate her Life Force, forcing it to gather together.

At first, the Life Force seemed unwilling to follow her commands and resisted strongly, but under Liora’s continuous assault, it could only do as she wished.

Slowly, the Life Force started to merge, turning from the original sparse mist into heavier liquid drops.

Click, click, click.

The sound of falling water came from Liora’s body, as the transformation grew increasingly faster.

One drop, two drops, ten drops, ninety drops.

It was only when the total amount of drops surpassed one hundred that the speed of the transformation began to slow down, a result of the misty Life Force becoming less and less.

Finally, when the last trace of mist disappeared, and the Life Force had changed from mist to liquid, the transformation was finally completed.

The liquid Life Force boiled and activated on its own, granting Liora’s physical body another boost.

If anyone else had managed to advance through two ranks, turning from an ordinary person into a True Knight, in a single day, they would have been overcome with joy.

However, though Liora was happy about it, she didn’t lose control of her emotions.

For her, becoming a True Knight was merely a way for her to better exert her real strength. As such, she wouldn’t be overly excited about it.

Shifting her focus back to herself, Liora scanned her body and was about to take a deeper look into the changes brought by her advancement.

But before she could do so, a pair of arguing, equally loud voices echoed in her ears.

As Liora extended her perception and traced these voices back to their source, she couldn’t help but roll her eyes, seemingly in disappointment.

Still, she patted her hands lightly before pushing against the ground, rising to her feet with an agile leap.

Then, she turned around and walked in the direction that the sound came from.

As she approached, the two voices grew more and more distinct, until finally, the words they were saying became abundantly clear.

"I wish to ask something from Her Excellency, please let me pass or at least inform her of my visit."

"No! The Lord has said that she shall receive no guests. Please leave. Otherwise, I’ll be forced to take action."

When Liora finally arrived, she saw the two sources of noise—or rather, the two people.

She was quite familiar with both of them.

One was Alpha—her trusted subordinate—while the other one was the person who had summoned her to this world—Eleanor.

But for some strange reason, these two people, who should have never met before, were now facing each other with angry expressions, as if they were ready to pounce on one another.

"Okay, that’s enough.", Liora interrupted, seeing this embarrassing scene.

Although she didn’t use any of her abilities, her words instantly shut the two people up.

Taking back their pointing fingers and glancing at each other with faint resentment, they turned to Liora in unison.

"What’s going on? What are you arguing about?", Liora asked, and the person who answered was surprisingly Eleanor.

"Your Excellency, I visited you to discuss something important, but this person blocked my way. She claims to be your subordinate.", Eleanor said, having regained her original elegant appearance as if the earlier scene had been a figment of Liora’s imagination.

Of course, she didn’t know that she had unknowingly stood at the edge of death.

Considering Liora’s earlier commands, Alpha should have killed any person who showed any intention of getting near this place.

The only reason why Eleanor was still alive was not because of her good luck, but because Alpha had obviously sensed the woman’s connection with Liora.

Glancing at Alpha and gesturing with her eyes to step aside, Liora stared at Eleanor silently, waiting to hear her next words and find out the reason for her arrival.

She didn’t speak, but Eleanor grasped her meaning.

Thus, she didn’t hesitate and began to explain:

"Your Excellency, the casualties and overall damage caused by the earlier attack have been accounted for. My brother is planning to call for a family meeting and explain the situation."

Saying this, Eleanor paused for a brief second before continuing:

"Besides that, there’s something else...", she said as she took a step closer to Liora and lowered her voice, her head turning around from time to time to observe the surroundings.
