Chapter 198: Looks Like Good Fortune
CHAPTER 198: CHAPTER 198: LOOKS LIKE GOOD FORTUNE
"You all love gossiping so much. Honestly, working as minor employees here is such a waste of your talents. You might as well change careers and become journalists."
"Lin... Assistant Lin..." All of them stared at Lin Banxia, awkward and flustered.
Lin Banxia, however, kept a cold face, sneered briefly, and turned to leave.
"We’re doomed, totally doomed. How is she here?"
"Do you think she’ll go complain about us to President Huo? Are we about to get fired?"
A group of women exchanged nervous glances before rushing out together all at once.
At the elevator doors, Lin Banxia was calmly waiting for the elevator.
Those women suddenly surrounded her in a whoosh.
"Assistant Lin, we shouldn’t have gossiped about you. You’re so magnanimous; please forgive us, okay?"
"Yes, yes, we swear we won’t say a single bad word about you ever again."
"We’re begging you, please don’t go report us to President Huo. It’s our fault, we admit it."
Lin Banxia looked at them quizzically. Wasn’t their attitude earlier one of arrogance, acting like they didn’t even see her?
And now they’re groveling like servile little underlings?
"If you don’t know the full story, don’t jump to conclusions so recklessly. Your moment of cheap talk has caused me tremendous trouble. Since all of you promised me, I’ll let this go this time." Lin Banxia finished speaking and stepped into the elevator.
The group of women exchanged pale looks amongst themselves, then quietly scattered back to work.
Lin Banxia hadn’t expected that these women would actually come to apologize. Hah, that’s quite entertaining.
At the moment, Lin Banxia had no projects to follow up on and was feeling quite idle. She heard that floors fifty through fifty-six of the building housed entertainment and leisure facilities, but she’d never gone before.
Perfect timing, with Huo Yanting occupied in a morning meeting, she decided to check them out.
As Lin Banxia exited the elevator, what unfolded before her was an extravagantly luxurious decor style she’d only heard rumors about. The Huo Family’s company was said to offer absolutely top-notch employee benefits.
Many people hadn’t joined the company for the high salary; most had squeezed in just to enjoy these perks.
Lin Banxia noticed coffee shops, bars, and restaurants serving a wide variety of global cuisines, ranging from Chinese to Western.
The cost of consumption here was surprisingly low—because the company had subsidized the majority of the expenses.
Strolling leisurely ahead, Lin Banxia came across a coffee shop and felt like sitting down inside.
However, as soon as she stepped in, she froze completely.
Near the window, at a cozy table, sat a man—Leng Weichen.
Oh. My. God. This kind of coincidence is absolutely mind-boggling.
Lin Banxia instinctively wanted to back out the shop door, but Leng Weichen’s gaze had already locked onto her.
He had noticed her.
Lin Banxia’s face was a picture of awkwardness. Recalling yesterday’s incident where she damaged his phone, she had no choice but to brace herself and walk over.
"Mr. Leng, what a small world!" Lin Banxia forced a smile and greeted him first.
Leng Weichen gave her a second glance, his thin lips curling slightly upward: "I never imagined you’d turn out to be Yan Ting’s girlfriend."
"Haha!" Lin Banxia let out an embarrassed chuckle. "Are you that surprised?"
"I am indeed," Leng Weichen replied nonchalantly.
Glancing at the new phone placed on his table, Lin Banxia immediately said, "You got a new phone? Regarding yesterday’s accident, I haven’t compensated you yet. Name a figure, and I’ll make sure to pay you back."
"Since you’re Yan Ting’s girlfriend, such a trivial matter doesn’t bother me," Leng Weichen said lightly, having already charged the cost to Huo Yanting.
"Why? He’s him, and I’m me. I’m the one who bumped into you and damaged your phone. It’s only right that I compensate you," Lin Banxia said, perplexed.
