Chapter 203: A Bad Premonition
CHAPTER 203: CHAPTER 203: A BAD PREMONITION
"It’s impossible in this lifetime. Let’s just be enemies. Only this way, I won’t hate you so much." Banxia stared at the face she had loved for three years in her past life and wished she could slash it with a knife.
Huo Qinglin always thought he was ruthless and emotionless enough, but he never expected Banxia to shatter his worldview once again.
Turns out, when women become cold and heartless, they are scarier than men.
Banxia flung her head and walked away, leaving Huo Qinglin with an unattainable silhouette.
Huo Qinglin clenched his teeth viciously. If, during this period, he thought sincerity could win Banxia back, now he’s realized he’s been using the wrong methods. This woman, at her core, is nothing but greedy and materialistic.
After climbing up to someone with a status more prominent and promising than his—Huo Yanting—she dared to treat him with such cold disdain.
Hmph, he refused to believe this woman could remain smug for the rest of her life.
When the day comes that her arrogance crumbles, Huo Qinglin vowed to make her taste what it means to suffer a fate where living feels unbearable and death seems impossible.
Banxia spat a few times with a gloomy expression. At the moment, she truly loathed Huo Qinglin, to the extent that even seeing him made her feel repulsed.
While turning a corner intending to return to her office, she suddenly encountered a group near an elevator.
Leading them was Old Sir Huo, flanked by his assistant and several high-ranking personnel.
Banxia inwardly cried out, "What bad luck!" Just as she was about to escape, Old Sir Huo’s assistant hurried over and called out to her, "Miss Lin, please wait. The Chairman wants to speak with you."
Banxia felt her back stiffen, a chill rushing from her feet to her head.
The Chairman invited her for tea. Could she possibly decline?
With clenched nerves, Banxia turned around and walked confidently to Old Sir Huo, respectfully and politely greeting him, "Chairman, hello. Is there something you need from me?"
"Follow me to the office to discuss," Old Sir Huo commanded with an authoritative tone.
"Alright!" Banxia could only follow him respectfully into the elevator.
She already had a solid guess about what the Chairman intended to discuss.
The Chairman’s office was meticulously decorated, carrying a heavy yet refined classical air.
Banxia stood beside a chair, not daring to sit without Old Sir Huo’s permission.
The last time she proactively tried to curry favor with Mrs. Huo, she ended up beaten, gaining nothing from it.
This time, she trusted Old Sir Huo’s cultured demeanor to be better than his wife’s; surely he wouldn’t arrange for someone to beat her again.
Old Sir Huo settled into his office chair, raising his head to scrutinize her, his gaze imposing and sharp.
"Miss Lin, I’ve heard that you’re with my eldest grandson not for his money..."
Banxia stiffened at the underlying implication of his words. Grasping at straws, she braced herself and replied, "I like him!"
Love can’t be measured by money. Was there any flaw in her response?
"Women who like him are as numerous as fish in the river. Why is it that he chose you alone? Have you ever considered why?" Old Sir Huo sneered, evidently finding her response foolish.
Banxia’s heart sank, her eyes widening slightly as she stared at him. "Does the Chairman know why?"
"To put it bluntly, my wife was deeply angered by you not long ago. Following that, my granddaughter was taken in for police questioning because of you, not to mention my youngest grandson was involved in a failed romantic relationship with you. And now, you shamelessly claim to love my eldest grandson. Miss Lin, your presence has stirred the Huo Family into chaos," Old Sir Huo declared slowly but strictly, his words so grave that Banxia felt her heart pounding with agitation.
She couldn’t help but feel... something bad was bound to happen.
