CHAPTER 326: CHAPTER 318 GUOGUO WANTS TO BEAT THE BAD GUYS (2)
"Let’s do it this way," Chai Eying said with a smile, "When my sister-in-law earns money, I’ll come back to thank you all."
Uncle Tian had no choice but to accept the money.
Feeling uneasy, he said, "Miss Li, I’ll help you move the things onto the mule cart."
Uncle Tian went to the backyard, glared at his daughter-in-law, and shouted to his son, "Miss Li is leaving, hurry up and move the things." He thought for a moment and added, "You should go with her and teach Miss Li how to use it."
He handed over the money given by Chai Eying to his son.
The son was surprised, "Dad?"
Uncle Tian sighed, "Take it, it’s Miss Li’s good gesture."
Tian Dawang nodded, stuffed the money into his chest.
Lady Tian’s eyes lit up when she saw the few pieces of silver.
Tian Dawang patted his sleeves, not even looking at Lady Tian, and went to move the printing machine.
Being disliked by both her father-in-law and husband, Lady Tian had no solution but to cry.
The printing machine has several parts, making it difficult for one person to move. Tian Dawang moved a few pieces, Uncle Tian a few more, and Chai Eying went to call Uncle Gui for help.
Uncle Tian noticed that Uncle Gui was continuously holding his back, as if he had a problem with it. He waved his hand saying, "No need to help, Miss Li. These things look big and numerous, but they are all very light, made entirely of wood."
He and his son, Tian Wang, finished moving everything after two rounds.
Uncle Gui, holding his back, wanted to help but couldn’t, so he just smiled wryly while watching everyone busy.
Chai Eying was puzzled and asked Uncle Gui, "Uncle Gui, your back..."
Could it be Luo Zikun who hit him earlier?
Her face darkened.
Uncle Gui waved his hand, "I’m old, can’t do much anymore."
Li Xingmao said, "Uncle Gui, I’ll have Yu Zhu take a look at it when we get back."
Uncle Gui laughed, "That would waste Miss Li’s herbs again."
Li Xingmao smiled slightly, "We’re family, no talk of wasting."
After everything was moved, Tian Dawang and Uncle Gui sat at the driver’s seat, and Li Xingmao first carried Guoguo into the cart, then went to assist Chai Eying.
The horse he rode was tied to the back of the mule cart to run along.
Uncle Gui raised the whip, driving the mule cart onto the main road, heading towards the village.
Lady Tian cried and cried, realizing everyone had left, she stopped crying.
She wiped the tears from her face, tidied her hair, and went inside to rummage through the cupboards.
But this household was poor before, what could she possibly find now?
Lady Tian slapped her thighs with both hands, crying and lamenting, "What should I do? Where can I find two hundred pieces of silver?"
Crying made her more anxious, she sat back on the ground.
Her three children returned after cutting pig grass.
Entering the house and seeing Lady Tian crying again, the three of them looked at each other, unsure of what to do.
The older daughter carried the three baskets of pig grass to the backyard, found a chopping tool, and started cutting the pig grass.
The two younger sons didn’t know what to do, sat on the doorstep of the back door, looking at each other.
The younger one whispered to the older one, "Brother, I’m hungry."
"I’m hungry too," the older one said.
"Where’s the food?" the younger one rubbed his belly.
The older one said, "Want to check the kitchen?"
"Okay, let’s look,"
The two kids held hands and went into the kitchen.
But they were disappointed; there was nothing in the kitchen.
After sending Chai Eying and the others off, Uncle Tian returned home, saw his daughter-in-law crying, and the two younger sons whimpering.
His temper flared, "Still crying? You used to be quite reasonable, why are you acting crazily today? Only knowing how to cry, not even caring if the children are hungry?"
Scolded again by her father-in-law, Lady Tian didn’t dare cry anymore.
She submissively got up from the ground and wiped her tears as she went to the backyard kitchen to cook.
Her daughter glanced at her, quickly lowered her head, and focused even more on cutting the pig grass.
.
Chai Eying and Li Xingmao, along with Tian Dawang and the printing machine, returned to the Li Family’s house.
The government official Qin Hu, residing in the house near the courtyard gates, heard the sound of the wheels outside and immediately came to open the gate.
Li Xingmao called out to him, "Brother Qin, go call my third sister, the things she wanted have arrived."
Tian Dawang got off the mule cart first and immediately went to move things.
Qin Hu saw it was the printing machine and replied, "Got it, young master." He had now become the Li Family’s messenger, and Qin Hu quickly ran to the rear yard to inform Li Yuzhu.
When Li Yuzhu arrived, Li Xing’an and Li Lixing also came to join the fun.
Nanny Jiang heard the noise by the courtyard gate and came over too.
She was concerned about Guoguo, who was taken by Li Xingmao, and walked over to hold Guoguo.
Guoguo still held that wooden hammer in her hand.
"Hit hit hit," Guoguo swung the hammer, shouting clearly.
Nanny Jiang laughed as she held her, "Who are you hitting? Hit hit hit."
"Bad person." Guoguo furrowed her brow and said seriously.
Li Yuzhu tugged at her little hand, smiling, "Where’s the bad person?"
"Bad person," Guoguo repeated, her expression earnest.
Nanny Jiang laughed, "Alright, alright, hit the bad person."
Li Xingmao frowned and looked at his daughter, "Hmm? Guoguo?" Luckily the child was young; if Jingjing had gone along, wouldn’t she parrot back and spread rumors?
Guoguo caught her father’s gaze and immediately changed the topic, "Eat, eat."
She patted Nanny Jiang’s face, pointing towards the kitchen.
Li Yuzhu laughed, "Your dad is the bad person for taking you out and delaying your lunch, look, you’re hungry now."
Li Xing’an admired Guoguo’s hammer, "Isn’t this Jingjing’s? How did she manage to hold it? Guoguo is really impressive, she took it outside and didn’t even lose it."
Chai Eying sighed inwardly, not just holding it, but also hitting people with it.
Nanny Jiang laughed, "Son-in-law, you took the child out and only just came back, she must be starving. I’ll take her to eat first. Oh, by the way, all of you come eat too. We’ve all had lunch, only you haven’t, and I’ve saved some food for you."
It was already past noon and the rest of the Li Family had already eaten lunch.
Li Yuzhu laughed, "Brother, sister-in-law, Uncle Gui, you all go eat, leave other matters to me and my third brother." She nodded at Tian Dawang, "This guest should also go eat."
Tian Dawang had received several taels of silver from Chai Eying and her husband, how could he still have the nerve to eat?
He quickly waved his hand and said, "Miss Li, no need, no need, I’m not hungry."
Chai Eying said, "Sister, he’s called Tian Dawang, Uncle Tian’s son. Uncle Tian was worried you wouldn’t know how to use the printing mold and asked him to come teach you."
Li Yuzhu laughed, "That’s great." She then called to Tian Dawang, "Brother Tian, come eat with us, you won’t be able to go back for a while, how can you teach on an empty stomach?"
Li Xingmao also advised Tian Dawang.
Tian Dawang felt embarrassed and had to say, "Then thank you very much."
Chai Eying called Uncle Gui, "Uncle Gui, take Brother Tian to eat."
"Got it, coming." Uncle Gui took Tian Dawang to the kitchen first.
Chai Eying didn’t go immediately, but returned to change clothes, with Li Xingmao accompanying her back to the South Courtyard.
The sleeve of her clothing had a torn spot, which was ripped during a fight with Luo Zikun earlier.
If seen by the rest of the family, it would surely lead to questions.
She didn’t want to cause a fuss, so she hurried to change while her in-laws weren’t around.
However, this didn’t escape Li Yuzhu’s notice.
She noticed Chai Eying’s clothes were especially wrinkled, with several stains on the skirt, which was unlike Chai Eying’s usual style.
Chai Eying’s clothes were always neatly pressed, never crumpled like this.
Additionally, there was a tear at the seam of her sleeve and shoulder.
It seemed like she had gotten it caught on something during a scuffle.
Even her hair bun was different from when she left home.
The morning bun was quite exquisite, while the current one looked much more casual.
But her eldest brother didn’t seem surprised; could it be a spat between the couple?
Li Yuzhu shrugged, well, the newlyweds had some affectionate tussle outside, and ending up like this wasn’t surprising.
She quickly dismissed the thought, not dwelling on it further.
Li Xing’an and Li Lixing moved the printing items into the storeroom beside the backwards-facing house.
The backwards-facing house had two rooms, one occupied by Uncle Gui, the other by the government official Qin Hu. Next to these was a slightly larger storeroom.
Normally, it was for storage of farm tools, spare wooden planks, sticks, and bamboo poles.
Li Lixing and Li Xing’an brought an old table over and placed the printing tools on it.
He found everything interesting, studying how to operate the printing machine.
But as to how to operate it, even after a long look, they couldn’t understand it, and stood there discussing it.
Li Yuzhu brought them two cloths, "Clean it up first, we’ll ask Brother Tian in a while."
