Chapter 202: Last Man Standing [3]

The enemy’s first division’s remaining members had erected powerful shields in front of them in time, knowing the perfect timing of the explosion. The enemy leader spoke with a trace of respect apparent in his voice, “Heinz Gil, despite coming from a commoner’s background, your strength and capabilities are truly worthy of respect. The very fact that you are still standing despite taking the brunt of the explosion itself is the proof of it.”

He stepped forward and so did his division members, and said to Heinz with a tone of finality, “But it’s our win in the end.”

The enemy warlord held his sword upward ready to deliver the final strike, as he swung the sword downwards with full power, but Heinz simply grabbed it with his bare hand, blood dripped from it, but his grip did not loosen, his countenance turned chillingly serious, his bloodlust spread around them, even thicker than before.

Heinz said to the enemy division leader, looking at him right in the eye as his gray eyes shimmered with overflowing power, “That’s what I should be saying. Cause it’s my win.”

The cryptic texts of Prime Nexus showed as the mechanical voice delivered in his mind, but it almost seemed like a slightly excited whisper,

[Conditions for a hidden effect of your title ‘Calamity Warlord’ have been met.]

[The hidden effect ‘Last Man Standing’ has been activated.]

[All your stats have been boosted by 300%.]

[This effect will remain active until all of your opposition has been eliminated.]

[Seeker will suffer from a backlash according to the amount of time this effect is active.]

A boundless power surged within Heinz out of nowhere, his battle aura surged and like a violent wave of uncontrollable power, his presence became thicker and heavier, he could feel his body being forcefully changed, but it felt utterly unpleasant, as if some foreign existence was messing with him, not that it mattered much.

He only needed the power of it, no matter how unpleasant it may be, it wasn’t more unpleasant than suffering a crushing defeat when they had almost won. All his stats shot up in power to three times. His battle aura took a gray and ashen color with his increase in strength. His figure became darker, and all the enemy first division members, who were all but assured of their victory just a moment ago, felt a sense of dread at the overwhelming increase of strength from their enemy division leader, who had pretty much been finished just a few moments prior.

They couldn’t believe it, just what sort of monstrosity was this? There was no single skill in existence that they knew of that could boost one’s power to such a disgustingly high degree. Heinz’s power at this moment was so great that he could now contend against a 2nd phase Seeker alone. The enemy warlord tried to pull his sword back, sensing the dreadful power emanating from his enemy, yet he couldn’t.

Despite putting in all of his strength, Heinz’s grip on the sword did not budge even a centimeter. And the very next instant, he put strength into his grip; his hand, which was already bleeding from beforehand because of grabbing the sword barehanded like that, did not get cut, and his fingers did not fall off, which should have happened.

But to the absolute horror of his enemies, the sword itself broke and shattered from the clenching of Heinz’s fist. The enemy division leader stepped back, terror apparent in his eyes. It was one thing to have the power of a genuine 2nd phase Seeker emanating from him, which could have simply been an intimidation tactic, yet… yet, this power had unmistakably crossed the threshold of the 1st phase and entered the 2nd.

Then Heinz took one step forward, and all 50 of them stepped back in fear. This time, he pushed his one foot onto the bridge with slightly more strength, and his body was pushed forward at an insane speed. The bridge rippled violently, while Heinz attacked his enemies without holding back.

Back when Axel was standing in between the gaps of the fortress walls, waiting for the right moment, when he could sneak under the bridge. The three groups of audience high in the sky had noticed that Axel was hiding himself all of a sudden.

Axel’s artifact could only obscure his presence from those in a certain vicinity of his, so it could not obscure his existence and keep him hidden from the 2 other sections watching from high in the sky, standing on the platforms. As for the professors, his artifact wouldn’t work on them due to the power difference.

Everyone was confused as to what exactly he was up to or what the gold section was up to; they initially thought that he was perhaps planning on launching a sneak attack on the enemy third division. But the professors and evaluators knew that it wouldn’t work. So, it must be something else. As such, they waited, and when everyone saw how Axel came out from the gap in the walls wearing a pair of red boots and gloves.

And using a perfect opportunity when the enemy’s first division was pushed back onto the bridge and their third division had barely any mana left, then at that very moment, Axel ducked under the bridge and started crawling from under it, heading towards the other side.

Everyone was utterly shocked seeing that, the perfect coordination of every division from the defending side, which created that perfect opportunity for him, only suggested this was something they had planned all along. Even with the general pace of things, the gold section would have likely won, yet they weren’t satisfied with it.

All the professors praised such out-of-the-box, ingenious thinking with great praise. But there was still another question in everyone’s mind, what would he even do upon reaching the other side? What could he even do alone?

But that question was also shortly answered, as the rune arrows rained down from the sharpshooters standing on top of the fortress, the attacker’s third division started running, while Axel also reached that side and set up another artifact. Both of the audience sections looked at Axel with wariness; this guy truly was a monstrous genius when it came to runic artifact-making. The types of utility of type artifacts he could make, almost seem endless to an extent.

But their shocks would only continue to increase with each passing event afterward. Axel, without too much effort, took out all the third division members of Section-C, even though they were almost out of mana. The ease with which Axel took them all out with that sword artifact was simply unnerving, to say the least. How the electricity from that sword could bypass the defenses of the Seekers and force them into unconsciousness from electric shock was also concerning for the 2 remaining section of students.

But the professors, while surprised, appreciated his genius even more because they could see the mechanics of how that sword worked, and they could understand it with more clarity. It only worked that well because the mana reserves of his opponents were very low.

If they had more mana reserves left, the energy pathways in their bodies would easily stop the foreign mana from invading their system. As for those using warrior branch aspects, they were much less affected by that electrical shock, Axel had to take out those few with brute force.
