Chapter 203: Last Man Standing [4]

Then they all witnessed how Axel was discovered by the enemy commander, they came face to face, and 81 Seekers, including Jaden Redmar, had surrounded him. But the unnerving confidence in him despite that dreadful situation made the commanders of both Section A and B tense.

Especially Enrick, for someone who had somewhat mixed with Axel Nomrad, he had an idea about what kind of person he was. He definitely had a card up his sleeve. Did he have some way to reach the flag despite all of them surrounding him like that?

Conner Ravenspire also thought that perhaps he was just a distraction, arriving at the same initial conclusion as Jaden Redmar. But then the bold declaration of Axel Nomrad followed, that he alone would take out everyone on this side including the commander alone.

Unsurprisingly, his bold words brought a wave of undisguised mocking laughter towards him from his enemies; not only that, most of the A and B sections who were witnessing this also laughed aloud in the same mocking tone towards him. The only exceptions who did not laugh were the commanders, Conner and Enrick. There was an uncanny confidence in his tone, something they instinctively understood on a deeper level.

When their first clash finally occurred, 40 mage seekers fired their most powerful spells at once, and an immense amount of power radiated from the new sword which Axel brought out, but none among the audience believed that he would survive against that combined attack, and would be immediately eliminated; but they could not be more wrong.

Axel counterattacked with all of his might as the powerful blue lightning shot out from his sword, the principal who had been expressionless and did not comment on any events that transpired till now, finally showed a change of expression, he slightly leaned forward in apparent interest, this change of their principal did not escape the eyes of the other professors.

And they were also utterly shocked in their own right. A thunderous explosion followed from the point of the clash, as a white light spread around that area scorching everything. Slowly, as the light dissipated, they could finally see, and they were rattled in fear, seeing that Axel was completely uninjured. While the 40 attackers were also uninjured, but….that was an attack consisting of 40 Seekers at once. How can one mere rune caster defend against it? It didn’t even seem like he was tired or out of breath; there was nothing.

“Impossible.” uttered Conner Ravenspire. Unable to believe his own eyes. This is…not normal. Not right.

Enrick had a sour expression on his face, a part of him already thought this would be the case at the back of his mind, but…for it to turn real was, utterly unpleasant, was everyone in the gold section such monsters? Where did these bastards come from?

On the professor’s platform, the principal laughed aloud, seeing the shocking events, all the other professors looked at their principal with a silent grimace. No one seemed to understand how Axel even accomplished that, whether students or professors, the few who did understand did not share their insights. But soon Axel himself revealed to his oppositions that this thunder of his was aligned with the concept of destruction.

So, it can destroy all sorts of attacks, just at the cost of high amounts of mana. Jaden Redmar himself clashed with him once but got injured badly, then all 80 fortifiers who surrounded him began to attack relentlessly, making the encirclement space smaller and smaller.

But Axel held out, continuously dodging, blocking, and attacking at a steady but beautiful rhythm that almost seemed like dancing. It looked like an art, there was an undeniable elegance to his combat, which spoke of countless years of experience, something only the experienced eyes of the professors could tell.

But no matter what, the spectacle in front of them remained something that should simply not be possible. At this point there wasn’t any shock in the students of the 2 sections, but only fear and terror. The looks on both of the commander’s faces were incomparably serious; the worst part was that Prince Lucian Suncrest was likely just as strong, if not stronger if they were to believe the words flying around in the students’ mouths.

Only now did the students begin to understand why they didn’t let the Valkyrie participate; they couldn’t imagine what sort of monstrosity she was, and the other sections would likely have no chance if she decided to participate.

But the shocks weren’t over, in the next minute, the fired siege arrow blew up in mid-air, which destroyed the fortress gate, all the fortifiers who were on the ground and second floor of the fortress were either eliminated or rendered immobile for at least 5 minutes or more. The sharpshooters on the top floor also faced the same fate, only Lucien Suncrest remained as someone who could still fight, though heavily injured, he was also taken care of by another siege arrow, though this one did not explode.

But it was successful in making sure that Lucien would not be able to interfere anymore. Outside of the fortress, the first division of shock troops on the defenders’ side was also eliminated, and only Heinz Gil, the division leader, remained standing, but his body was in such a bloody state that even a breeze could knock him out.

This terrifying display of tactical battle planned by Jaden Redmar made the 2 sections’ students go crazy in excitement. The gold section, which seemed unbeatable in every possible way, now seemed to have been given an assurance of defeat. Just one tactic changed the entire battlefield. All students on both platforms shouted in crazy excitement. They would all rather see Section C win than the Gold Section, whose high-level combatants had already planted fear in all of them.

Conner and Enrick looked toward Jaden Redmar with visible respect. What an ingenious strategy, it outshone all the tricks that the gold section had pulled off. The professors did not look too surprised by the turn of events it seems, they knew that the siege arrows hid explosives or Jaden somehow made them like that.

Now, the 50 members of the attacker’s first division only needed to break the flag pole, which already seemed on the verge of breaking. Heinz Gil remained standing alone in their path, but how could he block them in sight? It was even a miracle that he was still standing. Yes, he was the last man standing in the path of their victory.

But it was at this moment that the students of the other sections were shown the most glorious display of true and overwhelming power that they had ever seen. Heinz with his bare hand grabbed the sword of the enemy division leader, his hand started to bleed but he did not budge in the slightest, until….

An enormous amount of power burst out from Heinz’s figure, power so dense and great that it should not even be possible, with a clench of his fist, he broke the sword gripped in his hand. A weapon like that can only be broken by a genuine 2nd phase Seeker; there were only a handful of figures throughout the history of humanity who could truly cross the threshold of power between different phases.

But now such a figure was right in front of them, in all his majestic glory, even the power displayed by Axel Nomrad did not cross that threshold. This scene in itself was so rare, that it sent chills down the spine of every single student who was watching this. Even the professors looked at this scene with wide-open eyes, struggling to believe the shocking power emanating from the boy who came from the most humble of backgrounds.

And it was at this moment that Heinz Gil showed the entire Unified Human Academy why he was the one who was ranked 2nd and not anyone else.

Sorry, guys, I know this might feel like that I am kind of repeating things, but this was a point of view that was necessary to uphold, for the character ‘Heinz Gil’, who will more important as the story progresses.
