CHAPTER 251: HOW IT CAME TO BE [2]

Then he saw something else appear in his vision, a small ball of various colors of light, floating right near the headless body of the very seeker he killed just a few seconds ago. He examined it with a curious expression, but it didn’t feel like a soul. It appears mostly grey in color, with some other colors mixed in, albeit in a barely noticeable manner.

He instinctively reached out to it, and the flickering orb seemed to have turned into smoke and rushed into his own body, the moment his hand touched it. Again, an imperceptible change occurred in him, but there was no message from the prime nexus. However, he could instinctively feel it, a subtle hint that his demon blood had been strengthened or perhaps purified. He wasn’t entirely sure about it.

But he understood what happened; the knowledge of it, somehow, magically appeared in his mind. It was emotion; he had absorbed the lingering remains of the feelings of the one he killed. His smile widened to unnatural proportions, just like the very demon he was in truth. However, he calmed himself down forcefully. Thinking about the situation logically. He muttered to himself,

"I need to make sure that there’s no remnant of demonic energy left. Also, it needs to be ensured that it doesn’t look like the work of a demon or any other race. While the creatures in the forest would leave nothing of the bodies, that’s not enough to avoid suspicion. The best I can do is to make it look like the work of ’them’, that should do the trick."

Axel brought out an artefact from his space ring, then threw it on top of the headless body, and started to head out in another direction. The artefact, after a few seconds, produced a toxic gas with powerful acidic properties that melted the dead body, decomposed the blood, and burned the ground even.

Soon, nothing remained, no trace of demonic energy, blood, or flesh; a 5-meter radius around the entire area seemed to have been burned, as the ground was charred black. The artefact itself also melted down, leaving nothing behind for inspection, something that would trace back to him.

Axel did not wait to see if the artefact did its job or not; instead, he went after another one. This time, the seeker was hiding behind the bush of a tree, trembling like a scared kitty. This one seems to have already lost his mind to a certain extent. Axel could not help but feel disgusted. He stood right in front of the seeker, like a ghost from a nightmare, and flicked his finger on the forehead of the seeker, which smashed his head and turned it into a fleshy paste that stuck to the tree’s body, which was right behind him.

Similarly, he left that same-looking artefact just as before, and this process continued as he hunted down every single seeker of the 20. All eliminated, leaving no trace behind. This only took him 5-7 minutes in total. As he returned to the scene of the machinations, he found Ken Dusker still lying on the dirty ground, his face and hair covered in mud.

Axel bent down slightly and grabbed his hair, dragging him to a less muddy area. Ken still remained unconscious, lost in his dreams. Then Axel started to slap him, making sure not to use too much strength to blow his head into a thousand pieces just like he did to the others. After beating the guy 10 times in a row, in the process, his cheeks puffed up, and he was wounded. Probably some bones in his jaws also broke, and after that, the sleeping beauty finally decided to wake up.

The moment Ken opened his eyes, the first thing he saw was the eyes of the sinister demon gazing deep into his soul, as if ready to drag him into the lowest realm of hell. He crawled backwards in fear, making whimpering noises, and only then did he remember where he was, what he had done, and what had happened. Everything felt like a distant dream. At first, he reached the peak of pleasure mixed with relief, as he killed that damn wretch named Axel.

Until his body healed completely and he came back to life, or did a demon come back in his body instead of him? he didn’t know, but he did know one thing: a demon wouldn’t lower itself to pretend that it was Axel Nomrad. But wouldn’t that mean that Axel was along a demon bloodline holder? But that thought put him in an even greater pit of despair.

For a moment, he wanted to threaten him that if others found out that he was a demon blood holder, he wouldn’t be left alive, but his mind quickly disregarded that thought; the worst thing you can do against a demon is to threaten it, which would only make things worse than they already were. But before he could continue his internal deliberation on how to survive in this situation, he was interrupted.

Axel spoke, his monstrous voice overflowing with contempt, "Tsk, tsk. How pathetic, even now, you don’t even realise how this situation even came to be, do you?"

For a fraction of a moment, the overwhelming fear within Ken Dusker was replaced by a sense of confusion. As he asked, his voice still shaky in lingering dread,

"What?"

Axel grinned, making the very soul of Ken shudder. The demon spoke as if revelling in that feeling of negativity, "What do you think forced you to take action here against me?"

Ken’s brain froze as he thought back to the utterly revolting messages that were sent to him through the communication bands when their section was fighting the very first round against Section C. Then, the absolute display of power was shown by Axel Nomrad. The fear he felt at that moment was palpable. Then Axel would venture into the forest alone, at the same time of the day, a few days in a row?

Revealing the fact that he was actually severely weakened and could be killed. Which ultimately led Ken to believe that he actually had a shot at killing Axel. Then, as a byproduct of that very thought, Ken took action and killed him, but here he was, groveling and scared in front of the very being he killed with his own two hands.

He uttered in an existential terror, as the brutal realization finally dawned on him, "No, it couldn’t be.e....???"
