Facing the Apocalypse with My Other Selves
Chapter 39: Unveiling the Association’s Mysterious Side
CHAPTER 39: CHAPTER 39: UNVEILING THE ASSOCIATION’S MYSTERIOUS SIDE
After learning the intel, they set off immediately—their main goal, in fact, was precisely the "ally" mentioned by the Eastern Country!
Now, not only have they gotten a chance to meet, but there’s yet another ally who can bring massive benefits—how could they not be excited?
Not to mention, they had to deal with the monsters in their region now!
These were beings that posed a real threat to their own safety.
To obtain the relevant intelligence and support from the Eastern Country in such a short time, they had paid all kinds of costs—even conceding some initiative.
The fear of death—always enough to threaten anyone who doesn’t wish to die, no matter their identity or status.
But Shen Yu understood all this very clearly.
This meeting today was mainly to confirm his existence, and establish a channel for communication.
His ability to hold a position like this rested, at the root, in the Association behind him and the interests represented by its existence.
Even if he wanted to seize a greater voice in the future, it would also require strengthening the "tiger skin" of the Association.
So, Shen Yu made some preparations.
"There’s one more thing," Shen Yu changed the topic. "The Association won’t directly provide free aid to any particular Doomsday Civilization, but internally it does have an incentive system for member civilizations."
"Incentive system?" Qi Shichang instinctively straightened his back and widened his eyes at Shen Yu.
This was a term none of them had heard before.
The others, seeing Qi Shichang’s response, grew even more excited.
For them, today’s gains were already huge.
But if they could get some brand-new intel related to the Association, they could use it as capital for their own advancement when they returned!
"I only found out about this recently." Shen Yu nodded, then frowned slightly as he explained, "The Multi-Dimensional Apocalypse Civilization Mutual Aid Association is very different from the structure we’re used to. There aren’t that many people there. After all, most Gray Mist Walkers remain in their own worlds; only things like automated Puppets and Elemental Servants keep the Association headquarters running, so much of the information is something I’m still exploring."
This was a line of reasoning Shen Yu and the other two had come up with.
The interstellar world Shen Yu, when "talking up" the Goddess of Hope before, even visualized the Association in his mind.
Magnificent in scale, full of mystery—and once Gray Mist was consumed, every detail was enhanced.
After gaining a fair amount of Gray Mist yesterday, he even added plenty of Extraordinary effects.
Thinking about it now, Shen Yu simply raised his new personal terminal and projected an image.
"I recorded a video at the Association. See for yourselves."
In an instant, an image appeared above the small reception room.
The others probably hadn’t expected that the mysterious Association would suddenly be revealed before their eyes—could the veil really be pulled back just like that?
All of them, at that moment, unconsciously held their breath.
Including Ji Mingshu, eyes wide, staring at the projection.
It was a space filled with Gray Mist; the sky and earth were invisible—only the vague shapes of massive structures loomed through the fog. Most contours were only roughly visible, yet the sense of vastness and mystery was palpable.
The camera shifted—to a building, clear and direct.
"Multi-Dimensional Apocalypse Civilization Mutual Aid Association Level One New Member Hall."
This information appeared in their minds as soon as they saw the building.
The sensation was uncanny—so much so that the blonde beauty brought by the West Country was left with her mouth agape, utterly shocked, losing all her poise in a flash.
Inside the hall, quite a few obviously non-human beings were standing.
Not even clear if they were "beings" at all.
But on seeing them, it was immediately clear what all these things were for.
For example, one creature made entirely of glowing light—looked like some special energy lifeform. The moment you saw it, "Divine Elemental Servant" popped into your mind, along with its function.
Healing psychic trauma, dispelling curses and other negative effects.
The rest were similar.
Healing disease, extending lifespan, assisting with cultivation, repairing gear...
All told, there were more than a dozen types.
All existing to serve individual Gray Mist Walkers.
The most striking was the central object—it looked just like an altar, and the first glance told them, with perfect clarity, what it was.
——Resurrection Altar!
"Oh God." Olinard was already so stunned he couldn’t hide his burning envy. "Are all Association members immortal?"
"Theoretically, yes. But..." Shen Yu shook his head. "The moment I joined the Association, one of the principles that appeared in my mind was that you must maintain absolute awe toward the infinite All Heavens World. I think resurrection, in the end, is just some application of Extraordinary Power. If there’s resurrection, there must also be power to stop resurrection. Personally, I’m not eager to experience it for myself."
Adding things like this—beyond increasing the Association’s mystique—was also meant to eliminate dangerous ideas that some people might have.
With enough individuals, any sort of existence can crop up.
Who knows, some high-ranking figure might be tempted by thoughts of world destruction.
Spread a message like this, and it’ll make them think twice.
But when there’s enough Gray Mist, Shen Yu really did want to realize these features one by one.
If Gray Mist is truly omnipotent, why not cover all the bases?
Besides offering a platform for mutual aid, the Association should also help every Shen Yu across the worlds!
Only by doing so can everyone grow stronger together.
To the people present, all this was utterly shocking!
The two representatives from the Northern Alliance were left repeating a single phrase.
"Unbelievable, incredible, unbelievable..."
"Advisor Shen." Qi Shichang finally swallowed. "About that video..."
"I can copy a version for you." Shen Yu said. "Many things inside the Association are imbued with unique Extraordinary Power—for instance, information transfer is just the baseline. Some things that need to be kept secret won’t appear, even if recorded. Like some parts you see that look kind of like pixelation—that’s actually the glorious exploits of former Association seniors; they’re for us only, and can’t be shared without permission. So what I can show you are just the scenes suitable for each civilization to see."
After all, all the details were polished and completed using Gray Mist.
If even the Goddess of Hope could be convinced by this, there’s no way people of this world could pick up on anything wrong.
