CHAPTER 1340: CHAPTER 713: COMPLETION OF THE CITY OF FAITH_2
The Forest Queen instantly recognized the advantages and disadvantages of the Tree Spirit People. Her words were not only meant for the Tree Spirits but also meant to awaken Gaven and the others, reminding them not to recklessly rely on the Tree Spirits’ ability to automatically revive through symbiosis with the Treants to undertake dangerous actions.
"Thank you, Your Majesty, for enlightening us. However, Your Majesty should not forget that the Tree Spirits are deeply sentimental beings. Even towards life forms they’ve briefly been in contact with, they form strong attachments. Let alone with the trees they have shared a longstanding symbiosis."
Most Tree Spirits would rather face death alongside their symbiotic trees than choose to use the Symbiotic Transfer Ritual.
To these Tree Spirits, the ’flaws’ Your Majesty spoke of are not flaws at all. If their symbiotic trees could be enlightened to become Treants, it would provide them with a new choice." Queen Radanaxi expressed her own perspective and reasoning.
In theory, Tree Spirits are immortal, but Tree Spirits with lives longer than that of a Giant Dragon are exceedingly rare.
For such emotional and intelligent beings, immortality is sometimes not a blessing but a curse. They are forced to helplessly witness the cycles of birth, aging, illness, and death around them.
When their lives surpass those of surrounding trees, boundless sorrow and grief may completely overwhelm them. When their symbiotic trees reach the end of their lifespan, many will choose to wither alongside them.
This phenomenon is common in the Tree Spirit Kingdom.
The Forest Queen added no further remarks, merely contemplating briefly before stating, "Their situation is exceptionally unique, involving the use of corrupt and decaying forces. I need to conduct focused research on this matter before providing you an answer at a later date."
Even Melikai dared not easily give definitive answers regarding the peculiar case of the Tree Spirit People. The dual-soul symbiosis, if it were easily achievable, would have already been realized long ago; it wouldn’t have been delayed until now.
"Thank you, Your Majesty."
"If there’s nothing else here, I’ll take my leave now. I look forward to seeing your accomplishments."
"Our respectful farewell to Your Majesty."
"Our respectful farewell to the Lady."
Amid the voices of farewell from the crowd, the divine nature incarnation of the Forest Queen transformed into a beam of light and vanished.
Turning to Queen Radanaxi, Gaven said, "Your Majesty, I believe we can now discuss the issue of relations between our two nations. Based on my understanding of Komeer Kingdom’s current king and heir to the throne, they are kind-hearted individuals. They treat the Kingdom’s forest resources with an attitude geared towards sustainable development."
"Especially regarding the King’s Forest, which they view as a final sanctuary. This can be seen from the protective measures they’ve implemented for the King’s Forest."
"To be frank, I came here tasked by King Yasan to do my utmost to facilitate the signing of an alliance between our nations, striving for consensus on the protection and utilization of the King’s Forest so we may coexist peacefully."
"What course of action does Mr. Gaven believe we should take next?" Queen Radanaxi asked directly.
After the Forest Queen’s intervention, while she couldn’t trust Gaven wholeheartedly, she at least confirmed that he was a natural ally, capable of providing insights from an impartial stance.
His understanding of human forces far exceeded that of her fellow members of the Fae Race.
"The simplest method would be for Your Majesty and the King of Komeer Kingdom to sit down together, reach mutual understanding on various issues, and sign an alliance to jointly develop and protect the forests. As long as Your Majesty agrees, I will do everything in my power to make this happen." Gaven didn’t make any guarantees—after all, he was merely a messenger. The final decision still lay with King Yasan.
"I am willing, as long as the other party is willing to sit down and talk." Radanaxi gave a definitive response.
"Good." Gaven let out a long sigh of relief, marking half the task as accomplished. "If Your Majesty trusts me, why not share the conditions you have in mind and let me evaluate them as a natural ally? I can advise which conditions the Komeer Kingdom may find unacceptable, which are achievable, and which can be negotiated. This will not only facilitate the negotiation process but also ensure maximum benefits."
"You are recognized as our guide and leader by the Forest Lady. Even if you didn’t suggest this, I would have done it anyway."
Queen Radanaxi stated without reservation, "Our requirements are straightforward: humans must absolutely not engage in large-scale logging or burning of forests, nor conduct large-scale hunting, and military presence in the forests must be prohibited."
"The first few points pose no issues. Komeer Kingdom has adhered to these practices for years now. After using the Berserk Beasts to eliminate the Secret Hunting Sect cult on this occasion, their policies in this regard are certain to improve further."
"However, the last requirement is unrealistic. There are numerous human settlements here, and the western side serves as a border. Occasionally, troops need to be deployed through these areas and patrol the paths within the forest for security."
"From another perspective, the King’s Forest has rarely been troubled by other Monster Forces over the years, thanks in part to the relentless efforts of Komeer Kingdom’s troops to safeguard it."
"We could revise this point to allow military activity to be restricted to the forest paths. If large-scale military actions are needed in the King’s Forest, prior consultation with the Kingdom of Arosh would be required."
"This approach ensures easier acceptance by the opposing party while maximally safeguarding Arosh’s security."
Though Gaven’s stance wasn’t entirely impartial, he endeavored to remain as neutral as possible. His suggestions aimed to ensure acceptability from both Queen Radanaxi’s perspective and King Yasan’s.
"Agreed." Radanaxi promptly nodded her approval.
