Chapter 1764: Chapter 854: Two Birds with One Stone 2
“In other words, Dushan has no way to launch a nightmare assault from the Shadow Plane on the Material Plane with the Nightmare Tree, because this involves crossing three planes. She must send the Nightmare Tree into the Material Plane before she can cast the Nightmare Dream Realm, thus greatly diminishing the Nightmare Tree’s power.”
“This is our chance. As long as we find a way to lock the Nightmare Tree in the Material Plane, we have the opportunity to reclaim it or even destroy it.”
Gaven’s words awakened the group of Laiserman Witches, triggering more thoughts.
What he mentioned are actually basic magic knowledge, something many magic apprentices learn when they begin exploring magic.
The reason these Laiserman Witches didn’t think of it wasn’t due to their abilities, but because ever since Dushan Witch took the Nightmare Tree, the situation has been rapidly declining, leaving them too busy to study the Nightmare Tree.
On the contrary, Gaven had more time for in-depth analysis.
After all, the relationship between the Nightmare Tree and the Natural Balancer is special, and who knows if that terrorist might suddenly target the divine position of the Natural Balancer, becoming a powerful competitor, eventually even coming directly to them through their relations.
His desire to reclaim or destroy the Nightmare Tree is undoubtedly stronger than these Laiserman Witches.
“Actually, our thinking has another blind spot,” Gaven said shockingly, “Due to the large use of Shadow Power and even reasons related to the Shadow Dragon, we subconsciously assumed that the other party had initially entered the Shadow Plane. However, when I was transmitting order to the Light Spirit Lord, the situation didn’t seem like it was in the Shadow Plane; instead, it appeared more like a plane composed purely of shadows. Therefore, I have reason to suspect that it may be a Shadow Demi-Plane.”
The Shadow Plane and the Shadow Demi-Plane bear significant similarities, not just for ordinary people but even for many less proficient magic apprentices, who might easily confuse them.
In essence, the two are distinct.
The Shadow Plane doesn’t require much elaboration: it’s the dark mirrored version of the Material Plane, mutually dependent yet independent as a separate world.
On the other hand, the Shadow Demi-Plane is, strictly speaking, equivalent relative to the Material Plane, also an independent plane, but the various laws of physics within it are incomplete, hence the name ‘Demi-Plane.’
Imagine the entire Multiverse as a cluster of bubbles; each plane is a bubble, varying in size, possessing its own unique laws, and the foam enveloping these bubbles is Ether.
The distances between these bubbles can be indefinite yet, under the compression of certain forces, they draw closer until only a layer of foam separates them. Passing through here (Ether) allows entry into other bubbles (planes).
This is a simplified explanation of Ether cross-planar travel.
Theoretically, dreams could also be considered a demi-plane because they exist independently of the Material Plane and establish their own world and laws within the Ether Plane.
In fact, demi-planes are far more common than imagined.
Not just all gods, even powerful spellcasters might create their own demi-planes, many deity’s god kingdoms are actually demi-planes they established with their divine power.
The Shadow Demi-Plane is an ancient, self-formed demi-plane, known as the end of all shadows, unlike the Elemental Plane which is the origin (of life, of material), it’s the end of all shadows, where shadows conclude.
It’s easy to imagine what this world is like, shadows constantly changing within never-ending darkness, holding mysterious connections and roles between light and dark. Some even believe the essence of this demi-plane is shadow substance—a half-element composed of equal parts positive and negative energy.
Many creatures of the Shadow Plane view this as paradise, such as shadows, ghosts, Nightshadows, etc.
The Shadow Walk Spell doesn’t necessarily enter the Shadow Plane; it could also lead to the Shadow Demi-Plane, which is the main reason these two planes are easily confused.
“The Shadow Plane and the Shadow Demi-Plane are entirely different concepts. If Dushan extends her reach into the latter, she could recklessly use nightmare power directly in the Ether Plane! Implementing our previously discussed tactics would be difficult.”
“Light Spirit Sisters, you’ve been there yourself. Do you share the same feeling as the Commander?”
“With the Commander’s reminder, indeed, the place felt different from the Shadow Plane. I thought it was due to entering the dark realm deep within the Shadow Plane. Now it seems we might have mistaken it for the Shadow Demi-Plane, but there’s not enough evidence to be completely sure. It requires further verification.”
The Light Spirit Witch was extremely cautious, aware of the interconnected issues and the series of strategic miscalculations that could follow from one faulty judgment.
“There is a lot of conjecture in my thoughts as well,” Gaven did not force all Laiserman Witches to accept his viewpoint. “Regardless of whether she initially entered the Shadow Demi-Plane or Shadow Plane, as long as she’s in the Material Plane, I have a way to trap her in a trick, even if I can’t completely rid us of her, it will greatly restrict her abilities, limiting her unbridled atrocities.”
