I was close to reaching level 100 after harvesting the new herbs. Herbs didn’t get the bonuses from my farming skill, but they did give me plenty of experience in the farming class and profession, which was the entire reason I grew the first three herbs in the first place. These dandelion herbs(Dandedan is the name we decided) gave more than a magified crop of the same rank, but far less than the other herbs.

It was still one of the best things to grow to level because it was made from a weed that wanted to grow, and since I had a large greenhouse and started growing them inside, I had an almost infinite amount of them. They could grow almost on top of one another, and each gave the same full yield as the others, compared to needing to space out the plants like on the field, I was getting far more yield from it than most of my other plants.

Cherry and Olivia both gave birth, and we had our first close call with Olivia. She ended up giving birth to triplets, and if we hadn’t had both Roka and Berry watching over the birth, there would have been complications. Cherry was fine, only giving birth to a single child, but she had the worst postpartum depression out of all my wives so far. It wasn’t until almost a month after she gave birth that she started to act like her old self again.

It was far more common than I thought it was; about one out of every seven new mothers got it. She only got mild symptoms. It could last anywhere from a few days to months. All I knew was that it was scary to see her change like that, and if I didn’t have the help of all my other wives, I’d have been in serious trouble.

It was a clear sign that having children wasn’t as easy as the first few made it out to be. Not all of them would be as easy as Tems, Silk, and Sarah. I could… I could lose one of my wives to childbirth if things went poorly, as they did for Olivia, while something like what happened with Tems was also going on. It was terrifying to think about, and while I doubted something like that would happen, it was always in the back of my mind since I thought about it.

Millicent had made plenty of the salve and potion to sell; we were building up a stock before we’d sell them all at once across the entire country, and even possibly into the north as well. Once we sold the salve and potions, I also planned to sell the individual herbs as I did with the magified strawberries. For some reason, I had the feeling that trying to hold onto my monopoly would backfire tremendously on me.

It was a gut feeling, but I learned to trust my gut. With that, the end of spring quickly approached, and partly into summer after Delilah, Sophia, and Leaf gave birth, I hit level 100 for the first time.

I bypassed the option to upgrade my class; there was no chance I wasn’t purchasing the level hundred skill before upgrading to the next rarity. The level hundred skill was the linchpin for most classes. It would heavily help with your class or fundamentally change how your class worked. I could only choose a single skill out of the five; these special skills would also determine the optional class changes I could pick after.

If I picked warrior in a garden, I’d no doubt get access to a class modifier like uncommon battle farmer, or access to combat subclasses like fighter, warrior, or spearman. The modifier could change my farming skills so they would be more battle-oriented. Choosing a subclass would give me four more skills when I upgraded, which were based on the subclass.

I doubted it would change my class completely, which could happen. That was possible, I could go from a common farmer to an uncommon herbalist if I picked herb master, most likely. That was most likely the best option to choose if I were solely focused on making more money. Gardener in a war was the other money-making option, but it was far too random for me to ever choose.

Harvest Moon and Full Bloom were both interesting options. I wonder if full bloom would immediately grow trees to their full height, or only apply a year's worth of growth at once. I was leaning more toward Harvest Moon out of the two because I was more focused on quality over quantity already. The problem with it was that I would need to more heavily micro-manage my crops if I chose either of these skills.

I would be too worried about getting the most out of the skills. I might wait to harvest plants for a few days, waiting for the full moon, which might actually drop the quality because I didn’t pick the crops at the right time. I would also burn myself out trying to pick the best crops to plant for them to instantly bloom, and then spend the rest of the year second-guessing myself on what I picked. If it also instantly grew herbs, it would definitely be my go-to, but it was only crops.

I thought about it for days, discussed it with my wives, and finally decided on the warrior in a garden skill. Now, why did I choose possibly the most boring skill out of all of them? It was the only skill that didn’t involve farming, and only had the niche stat boost if I was actively fighting on my farm…

It was a safety net, I would never actively want the skill to activate… But, if it did… It would not only double my stats but also the stat bonus all my wives and children would get from me. Doubling my stats would put me at the same level of power as the sheriff. He would still beat me if we were to fight, but only because of his combat-focused skills and experience actively fighting at that level.

I picked it, and breathed a sigh of relief as I felt my stats drop, which was only possible when you suddenly lost a bunch all at once from my level dropping, then got back to work.
