CHAPTER 108: LIKE HELL I GIVE A FUCK ABOUT YOUR GAS.

"What’s next from here?" Troy asked after a while.

"How do you mean?" Theo asked, looking up at him, Tristan looked at them as he listened in as well.

"I mean, I know they’d be tortured, interrogated and killed, but there are so many questions to be asked, not just ’who sent you?’. We haven’t handled a case this deep before, so I feel we would need to plan extensively before going in. I think it will make the job easier for us." Troy explained.

"By plan extensively, you mean plan out our questions?" Theo asked for clarification.

"Not just plan, but construct. We’d have to construct them so well that whatever we manage to get from them wouldn’t answer only one question, but many others." He clarified, letting his words simmer between them, giving them the space to make sense of the things he’d just said.

"We’d need their insignia. That’s the most important thing we need. If we have their insignia, we can ask some elders discreetly, even the ones in other packs, and maybe the ones in Eldrida. We could even check them out on the dark web. I think any other questions we should ask them would have to be related to the attack on our company, and their plans for us, ’cause I can’t help but feel this catch was equally orchestrated by them." Tristan explained, massaging his forehead with his fingers.

"You have a point. They might feel like they have some sort of control over us, given we’ve been clawing on every clue they’ve placed before us like birds following a bread crumb trail, but I can’t help but feel bad for them." Theo said, sighing.

"Why would you feel that?" Troy asked, confused this time.

"Why not?" Theo asked, feigning confusion as well, clearly enjoying the confused looks on their faces that were now morphing into one of anger.

"Cut the shit, Theodore." Tristan scolded.

"Fine." He groaned, rolling his eyes. "Can’t you guys just take a joke?"

"Your jokes are always lame, Theodore. Now, would you tell us why you are feeling bad for our enemies?" Troy said, bruising his ego hard.

"That was mean." He remarked, giving his brother a side eye. "But I’d keep that for later. Anyways, I said that because it will be their ruin." He said, breaking to let them assimilate.

"Throw more light." Tristan said, more interested.

"You know, there are different kinds of birds. There are the ones that wouldn’t fight you to give them food, neither would they go out to search for food, they’d wait and be loyal to you upon realizing that you don’t just have access to what they want, but you control it as well;-"

"-Meanwhile, the second kind will fight you for food. They would claw at you, torment you, and seek out ways to escape from whatever pen you put them in so they can get to their food. And if you decide to take away their food, they will search for other ways to feed, even undergo serious evolution if it comes to that. They are fighters, they are warriors, they are not just durable but malleable. And I said it will be their undoing because they chose the wrong kind of birds to keep, because we’d not only put them in our chessboard as pawns, but we will make sure to eat up every damn reserve they’ve got."

"That way, they’d learn that not all birds can be contained. They’d learn that just because they managed to get other companies under their influence, doesn’t mean they’d be able to get us." Troy added, a devilish smirk gracing his lips.

"Well, we just have to be grateful to them for the extra work they’re putting in, because if they weren’t, I’m not sure we’d have gotten this far. Would’ve probably taken us a year or more." Tristan responded, swimming in their positive energy.

"That’s true," Theo said, nodding. After a while of silence, he looked up at them, clearing his throat obnoxiously to get their attention.

"What is it this time, Theodore?" Tristan asked, giving him a bored look.

"Oh, please. Don’t give me that look. We’ve gotten to the bottom of what you both came here for, so chop chop." He said, clapping his hands as he got up from his seat, going to stand by the door.

"You’re kicking us out?" Troy asked with wide eyes, feigning disbelief, his palm on his chest.

"Hell, yeah! I have a few hours left to spend with her, so please leave so we can spend them in peace." He said, giving them the kindest smile he could muster, his palms pressed together.

"You know, I could sleep in the guest room, so I wouldn’t have to drive down here again in the morning, you know, to save gas," Tristan suggested, bits of hope glinting in his eyes.

"Like hell I give a fuck about your gas! You’re a multi-millionaire, Tristan Macgyver, and you’re horrible at lying. Now, will you three fuck off my property peacefully, or would I have to sedate you both? Although, I desperately hope you take the latter so I can spend more time with her tomorrow." He taunted, an evil grin resting easily on his face.

"Asshole." Tristan scoffed, bumping his shoulder roughly as he walked past him out of the office.

"Yes, Brother. You love me." Theo teased after him, his horrifying grin unmoving.

"You’re an ass," Troy said as he walked past the threshold, eyeing his brother.

"A really cute red soft one." Theo responded crudely, chuckling as he followed him out of the office, shutting the door.

"Butthole." Troy insulted again as they made their way up the metal staircase, out of the false wall and into the hallway.

Tristan leaned by the wall just outside the door, both hands stuffed in his pockets.

"What suddenly crawled up your ass?" Troy asked, walking past him.

"Your senselessness." Tristan retorted, earning a round of applause and hoots from his brothers.

"Look whose finally learning to give comebacks." Theo taunted.

"Oh, please. I’ve always known, just didn’t feel like it." He defended poorly.

"Tsk, tsk. You still have to learn how to lie, or do you know that already?"
