CHAPTER 338: CHAPTER 338: TROUBLE AT KANE GROUP

Julia grabbed the water and felt something was off, a sudden wave of anxiety surged within her. She should be dizzy, with her vision fading, not this alert.

Even with her head bowed, Julia could feel Leon Keane’s gaze growing colder.

Her eyes were filled with panic, and her fingers tightened, unable to even look up at Leon’s current expression.

"Is this fun for you?"

Leon Keane said coldly.

"I... I..."

Julia stammered, trying to figure out how to explain to Leon Keane.

Leon Keane had lost all patience with Julia, feeling indifferent towards her and not wanting to hear her explanations. He turned to leave.

Julia panicked, hurriedly threw back the covers: "Leon, don’t leave. I’m not lying to you. I really have been feeling dizzy; it just got a little better. I just wanted you to stay here a little longer..."

Leon frowned. Just because she wanted to? She wasted so much of his time?

Leon walked out of the ward indifferently.

Julia got out of bed, and in her haste, the water cup wobbled, spilling hot water, scalding her fingers and the back of her hand: "Ah~ it hurts."

Unable to hold it steadily due to the burn, the cup dropped to the floor, startling her.

Julia thought Leon would hear her and turn back, but to her surprise, he really left.

Julia cried... How could Leon do this to her?

Kyle checked the time, felt it was about right, and found a doctor. He leisurely walked over to the ward, pushed open the door, and found the bed empty and messy, without a trace of Julia, but her sobbing was clearly audible.

Kyle was startled, rushed over ahead of the doctor, and saw Julia crouched on the floor, sobbing in agony.

"Sis~"

Kyle felt extremely heartbroken.

Julia cried uncontrollably, not lifting her head.

Kyle reached out to pull her, stepped on the shards of the water cup, and suddenly felt a bad premonition. The air was filled with a faint smell of blood. Julia refused to get up, so Kyle forcefully carried her. It took all his strength to get her to bed, leaving him pale from exhaustion.

Suddenly.

Kyle saw Julia’s fair feet, the soles stained red with blood, shards of glass ruthlessly embedded in her flesh, causing Kyle to be unable to breathe from the pain.

The doctor came over, looked at Julia’s foot injury, and exclaimed, "How did it get so severe? Dr. Sinclair, how did you step on broken glass?"

How old is he? Still stepping on broken glass?

"Shut up." Kyle harshly shouted at the doctor, "Hurry up and treat my sister’s wounds!"

The doctor, bewildered by Kyle’s shout and bossy orders, felt annoyed.

But he held back, knowing Jack Quinn cared excessively for these siblings. When Kyle first stayed at Mount Cygnus Hospital, Jack had instructed all doctors and nurses to take utmost care of Kyle.

The doctor wasn’t afraid of offending Kyle but of offending Jack Quinn.

"I’ll go prepare disinfectant."

The doctor said coldly, then left the siblings’ ward.

Leon Keane rushed to the hospital, seeing Ivana Monroe in the hospital bed. The cold lines of his handsome face now softened as he bounded over to the bed.

"Shh." Aunt Golding gestured for Leon to be quiet, whispering, "President Keane, she just fell asleep."

Leon said nothing, nodding slightly, focusing on his wife who was asleep, before looking for his son.

Leon Keane’s gaze moved to Timmy Monroe, noticing him sitting on a chair, drawing with a pen and paper.

Out of curiosity,

Leon walked over quietly. Suddenly, the little guy covered his paper, pursing his lips, his cute face extraordinarily cold, as if Leon had offended this little guy.

"Timmy."

Leon wasn’t sure how he had upset this little guy. Could it be because he arrived late?

Probably not, right?

He knew a bit about the little guy’s personality and thought he wouldn’t get angry over such a small thing.

Timmy turned his head, the back of it facing Leon, clearly showing he didn’t want to entertain him.

Leon met a chilly reception.

If it were anyone else, Leon would’ve been angry long ago, but this little guy was his son, his own flesh and blood. So, Leon couldn’t muster even a hint of frustration with Timmy. He wondered exactly how he had offended him.

If the little guy was unhappy with him, couldn’t he just say it? Leon could change.

Leon sat beside the little guy for a moment, but he maintained a single position, a single expression, covering the paper, neither acknowledging Leon nor giving him a glance.

Aunt Golding shook her head helplessly at the sight.

She looked at Leon again, thinking how President Keane seemed like a husband and father who cared for his wife and son, how could he be involved with another woman? Only a man who didn’t care about his wife would betray so recklessly.

President Keane clearly cared a lot.

Could it be that Ivana misunderstood President Keane?

Leon was patient, intending to wait in the ward for Ivana to wake up, to appease his wife first, and then go to the company.

But then...

Derrick Stern called.

The ringtone woke Ivana.

Leon felt a bit annoyed, he should have set his phone to silent mode.

Walking out of the ward, he answered the phone.

"Derrick, you better have an urgent matter, otherwise..." Leon’s voice was icy.

Derrick was startled.

"President Keane, there’s trouble. The project manager of the MicroSilver project has jumped from a building and committed suicide, leaving behind a note that’s very unfavorable to Kane Group."

He knew today was Ivana’s transfer day, President Keane had even told him not to call unless necessary.

Derrick didn’t want to call but had no choice.

No one expected Lucas Pierce would commit suicide.

MicroSilver is an electronic industry under Ravenswood’s branch, considered a medium-to-large company. Before Lucas Pierce took over, its annual output was about a billion, with very considerable net profits.

But after Lucas took over, the output dropped to a few million in the first year, and later turned into debts.

Lucas Pierce had poor management skills and business capability. Since he was put there by Leon’s mother, President Keane couldn’t fire him. President Keane had abandoned all hope for MicroSilver, planning to let Lucas mess with it and abandon it, but unexpectedly, this happened.

Leon’s face turned ice cold, he instructed, "Immediately send people to stop reporters from entering the site. I’m heading there now."

Derrick replied, "Yes, I’ve already sent people ahead. But I’m afraid... before Lucas committed suicide, he already contacted reporters."

Lucas Pierce, known for mismanaging MicroSilver, had come to Leon to cry, hoping Leon would continue to invest funds to revive MicroSilver. Leon had refused.

Lucas had once threatened Leon with his life, saying if Leon didn’t invest, forcing him to die, he would go ahead and die, but before that, he wouldn’t let Leon off easily and would deliver a blow to Kane Group which Leon cared about.
