CHAPTER 377: CHAPTER 377: FABRICATION

"That’s not true, Kyle. Don’t let your imagination run wild. Let go of me."

Julia said, wincing in pain.

"I don’t believe it. Sis, tell me, if it’s not Ivana, who else would dare come to Mount Cygnus Hospital to hurt you?"

Seeing the pain on Julia’s face, Kyle instinctively loosened his grip.

Kyle’s character is stubborn, which Julia knows very well. If she doesn’t come up with a lie to deceive him, Kyle will definitely find a way to investigate this matter.

Kyle doesn’t have much capability, but Julia is afraid Kyle will stir things up with Jack Quinn.

Jack Quinn is well-connected and wealthy in Ravenswood, and if he helps Kyle, then what she did that night is very likely to be uncovered.

A wave of fear washed over Julia. The thing she did must absolutely not let Jack Quinn find out. If he knew, her image as a goddess to him would be completely ruined.

To Julia, Jack Quinn is both a backup and a useful person to exploit.

"Here’s what happened: I woke up after eleven last night, feeling really hungry. So I went out to get something to eat. Who knew halfway there, I encountered a lunatic wielding a kitchen knife, chasing after me like a mad person, muttering that I killed her child during surgery."

"Kyle, you get it now, right? Sis just happened to run into a psychopath. It’s already a blessing to have made it back alive."

"Really?"

Kyle was hardly convinced by Julia’s words!

Realizing his sister was not in her hospital room, he went out looking for over an hour until his heart couldn’t take it anymore, and he stopped searching, slowly returning to the hospital room. If a case of psychopath causing harm had occurred outside, a security guard in the booth would surely have told him.

But there was no such thing.

Kyle asked the guard; no one saw his sister leave, nor did anyone report seeing a knife-wielding psychopath outside.

All this was just fabricated by his sister, right?

The purpose was to keep him from knowing the truth.

Kyle was increasingly certain that Ivana had hired thugs to harm Julia.

"Yes, just like that, Kyle. You’re doubting your sister too?"

"No, sis... I don’t."

"Sigh! Kyle, sis knows how much you care about her, but this was just an accident. Don’t overthink it, okay? Oh, and one more thing, don’t tell Jack Quinn about sis getting hurt, he’s done enough for us siblings. Sis doesn’t want him to worry about me anymore."

Julia refused to admit Ivana was behind it, and Kyle was already planning to tell Jack Quinn; he needed someone to help him avenge his sister.

Julia asked him not to; how could he possibly comply?

Kyle agreed verbally: "Hmm, I understand, sis."

Julia sighed in relief and said, "Sis is tired and wants to rest. Go back to your hospital room!"

Kyle loosened his grip on Julia: "Okay."

VIP ward of the first hospital.

Leon Keane was the first to wake up. He didn’t go to the company, nor did he wake Ian yet. He gently walked out and called Secretary Sullivan.

He asked Secretary Sullivan to bring his office laptop over.

He planned to work from the ward of Ivana Monroe today.

About twenty minutes later.

Secretary Sullivan arrived, accompanied by Derrick Stern.

Seeing Derrick Stern, Leon frowned slightly: "Up so early? Why not sleep a bit longer? You’re on a day off today to rest."

Derrick Stern’s eyes were filled with bloodshot lines, dark circles under his eyes, looking rather miserable, yet his spirits seemed high, as if something delightful had occurred.

Derrick Stern said, "President Kane, remember what you asked me to do last night? The DNA tests are out. He is called Luke Lowe, nicknamed Jet, was brought to Deer District Hospital by a woman last night for treatment."

Derrick Stern opened a briefcase containing Jet’s detailed profile: age, address, including the demise of his parents, leaving only a grandmother. All dug out.

Leon extended his long fingers, taking the documents, attached with Jet’s photo, wearing a skull T-shirt, ripped jeans, with a cigarette dangling from his mouth, looking like a delinquent.

Jet’s regular haunt was Hawk’s nightclub; the address on his ID was a village somewhere in Ravenswood.

After looking over the documents, Leon tossed them back to Derrick Stern and said coolly: "Take care of him."

Secretary Sullivan’s eyes widened instantly, appearing like a scared little lamb. She never witnessed this side of President Kane. She thought President Kane was upright, Derrick Stern as well.

Little did she know they... they... had a darker side.

Oh dear! She had chosen the wrong man!

Leon glanced over, seeing Secretary Sullivan’s frightened expression, and quipped: "Useless. If you’re scared, then resign!"

Secretary Sullivan was alarmed by Leon’s words, struggling internally whether to resign or not? If she resigned, her salary would drastically reduce after leaving Kane Group.

President Kane is the most generous boss in all of Ravenswood, not to mention she’s already worked her way up to become a key secretary alongside him.

Derrick Stern wrapped an arm around Secretary Sullivan’s shoulders, laughing as he said: "Ha... how can you resign? In Ravenswood, is there a better boss than President Kane? Secretary Sullivan, quickly show loyalty to the BOSS."

Secretary Sullivan, already wavering, now further influenced by Derrick Stern, blurted out: "President Kane, I don’t want to resign; I want to follow you."

Leon pursed his thin lips, ignoring Secretary Sullivan.

As he turned to enter the ward, he suddenly paused and added: "Before dealing with Jet, ascertain the identity of the woman who brought him to the hospital. If she was involved in last night’s events, handle her too."

Derrick Stern replied: "Alright."

Leon carried the laptop, lightly stepping into the ward.

Derrick Stern and Secretary Sullivan left the hospital.

On their way.

Secretary Sullivan’s expression was complicated; suddenly, she realized being with Derrick Stern made her feel unsafe.

Because in her understanding, even if someone committed wrongdoing, it should be left to the police for handling, rather than employing dreadful private justice.

Murdering is illegal, after all!

Secretary Sullivan seated herself in Derrick Stern’s car, his hand suddenly placed on her hand’s back, startling Secretary Sullivan, making her quickly withdraw her hand.

Seeing Secretary Sullivan’s unusual behavior, Derrick Stern wrinkled his brow.

Secretary Sullivan remained quiet on the trip, apparently avoiding Derrick Stern deliberately, sticking close to the window, watching the shadows of trees pass by outside.

"What’s wrong? Really scared?"

Secretary Sullivan’s heart skipped, bravely saying: "You should advise President Kane, killing is illegal."

Derrick Stern smirked coldly: "Oh? Really? Do you know what the perpetrator did to the two young masters and madam last night?"

Secretary Sullivan was stunned, horrified: "What happened?"

Derrick Stern slowly recounted: "Last night, the two young masters were suddenly kidnapped, requiring President Kane to go alone with fifteen million in cash to ransom them."
