Fierce Daddy: His Million-Dollar Sweetheart
Chapter 44: Unable to Be Lenient Toward Murderers
CHAPTER 44: CHAPTER 44: UNABLE TO BE LENIENT TOWARD MURDERERS
Jean Shaw forcefully tore the IV needle from the infusion tube, and crazily stabbed it towards Ivana Monroe.
Ivana Monroe’s pupils shrank sharply, instinctively putting Timmy Monroe down and pulling him behind to protect him.
The onlookers screamed, but no one dared to step forward to stop Jean Shaw.
Michelle Monroe saw this, and her expression suddenly turned as vicious as her mother’s, shouting in her heart: Stab that bitch Ivana Monroe in the eyes, Mom, stab her blind.
The uniformed officers were shocked and quickly rushed in to intervene.
Caleb Monroe suddenly took two big steps, blocking Ivana and her son, grabbing Jean Shaw’s arm, raising his hand, and slapped her hard twice across the face.
Jean Shaw was hit so hard stars danced in her eyes. She fell to the ground, scraping her forehead and drawing blood.
Jean Shaw’s recently bandaged arm began to bleed again. After being hit, she quieted down a lot, curled up on the ground, sobbing woefully.
Caleb Monroe cried too, tears streaming down his aging face, eyes full of disappointment towards Jean Shaw. His fingers trembled as he pointed at her, wanting to scold her, but something seemed to choke his throat; this malicious woman was beyond rebuke.
Ivana Monroe stared at Caleb Monroe standing in front of her, startled as if she couldn’t believe he would ever help her.
Too many disappointments leave no room for hope.
This unexpected "hope" left Ivana Monroe caught off guard, her nose tingling and eyes filled with heated liquid that turned into tears flowing down her cheeks.
Ivana Monroe cried silently.
Michelle Monroe was shocked by the scene, turning pale, trembling all over, unable to speak.
Jean Shaw and her daughter were taken into the police car.
Ivana Monroe also had to go to the police station to give a statement. As Caleb Monroe turned away, she subtly wiped away her tears, her eyes red.
"Ivana, it’s my fault. I misunderstood you," Caleb Monroe looked at Ivana’s swollen cheek, his heart aching as he said, "Does the injury on your face...hurt?"
This was Caleb Monroe’s first time apologizing to Ivana, as he finally saw the true nature of Jean Shaw and her daughter, those two vile women.
A warm current flowed through Ivana Monroe’s heart. The past grievances between father and daughter seemed to be blown away, as the blood bond made it hard for her to truly hate him, just a little warmth was enough.
Ivana Monroe shook her head, "It doesn’t hurt; it’s all in the past."
Caleb Monroe continued to utter a few more caring words for Ivana, and she managed a slight smile on her swollen face.
"Dad, I need to go to the station to give my statement,"
The uniformed officers urged, as Ivana spoke to Caleb Monroe.
"Ivana, I’m begging you for one thing," Caleb Monroe urgently called out to Ivana, afraid to meet her eyes directly, his gaze flickered, "Don’t send your mom and sister to jail. Your mother has followed me for so many years, she’s never suffered, how can she live in the harsh environment of a prison?"
"And your sister, she’s only in her twenties, truly in the prime of her youth. If she has a criminal record, this will affect her future, and subject her to ridicule."
"Ivana, she is your only sister, can you bear to let her live the rest of her life in pain and ridicule?"
"Ivana, when you get to the station, tell the police officers it’s all a misunderstanding, their words were just spoken in anger, these are our family matters, we’ll resolve them behind closed doors..."
"Enough, my mom has been dead for years." Ivana interrupted Caleb Monroe’s endless talking, almost shouting in despair. She thought her dad, having seen the true nature of Jean Shaw and her daughter, would genuinely regret it and care for her.
It turns out he wasn’t; he was merely paving the way to plead for Jean Shaw and her daughter.
"Mommy, don’t be angry, Timmy supports your decision." The little boy’s childish voice was filled with strength.
Ivana Monroe lowered her gaze to see Timmy Monroe raising his handsome little face, determined and earnest, his soft hand warming hers, as if transmitting power to her.
Ivana Monroe’s cold heart began to warm again.
She smiled gently at him, for she wasn’t alone. With Timmy, no matter what happened, he’d always stand by her unconditionally.
Having Timmy in her life was enough.
Ivana Monroe adjusted her bad mood and coldly said to Caleb Monroe, "I’m sorry, I can’t be magnanimous with two murderers."
Caleb Monroe’s face seemed struck by lightning, standing there watching Ivana walk away. His legs felt as if filled with lead, unable to move.
Ivana Monroe finished recording her statement and submitted the evidence left by the driver. By the time she returned home, it was late.
She heard Timmy’s stomach grumbling.
Ivana cooked a bowl of egg noodles for Timmy, and after accompanying him to wash up, waiting for him to fall asleep, she sat on her bed with her laptop, dazing off.
The person who recorded her statement at the station said the voice record couldn’t constitute attempted murder, as Ivana hadn’t truly been harmed.
Her grandfather fainting from anger wasn’t enough to constitute criminal facts; to accuse Jean Shaw and her daughter, and have them sentenced, they must find concrete evidence of Michelle’s attempt to murder her.
For instance...the driver who dumped her body back then, if he was willing to step up as a witness.
If the driver testified, then he’d be part of the crime and also sentenced; convincing him to testify would be difficult.
Ivana Monroe acquired this recording with great difficulty, as the driver had already expressed it was impossible for him to testify. He now had a family to feed, and firmly avoided jail.
He wouldn’t go to prison for money, either.
Ivana Monroe felt vexed, having just managed to send Jean Shaw and her daughter in, she’d have to wait for them to be released? Free to harm her again, or her grandfather lying in the emergency room?
Ivana unknowingly opened her computer, finding her Weibo account logged in, and surprisingly saw the voices criticizing her had vanished as if they disappeared into thin air, leaving behind irrelevant topics.
Ivana scrolled lower with her mouse, quickly spotting comments from six years ago, and white moonlight had vanished too.
Who was white moonlight?
Ivana realized it was Leon Keane, though he vehemently denied it at Michelle’s wedding, this sudden disappearance action was identical to his denial at the wedding? The harder some things are to cover, the clearer they become.
Ivana shut her laptop, unwilling to think of Leon Keane, for he was too dangerous, especially since today he took Timmy back to the Kane family estate unannounced. She feared Leon might take Timmy away.
Timmy was her sole mental pillar now.
Leon Keane?
Ivana’s eyes brightened, recalling the 3P video played at Michelle’s wedding feast, since Leon could hack into Michelle’s computer and retrieve items from her high school years, could it be that Michelle’s computer holds evidence of when she tried to kill her?
