Fierce Daddy: His Million-Dollar Sweetheart
Chapter 515: Unable to Find Peace
CHAPTER 515: CHAPTER 515: UNABLE TO FIND PEACE
"Mrs. Kane, the young mistress didn’t give me any benefits. If you don’t believe what I say, I can swear to the heavens."
Derrick Stern was very afraid Mrs. Kane would misunderstand Ivana Monroe, so he raised his hand to the sky.
Unfortunately, Mrs. Kane was determined to drive Ivana away, and whether Derrick was telling the truth no longer mattered.
"Shut up. I’m talking to Leon, and it’s none of your business as an employee to speak!"
Truly, he had no sense of his own position.
Mrs. Kane was furious. Had she known Derrick was so supportive of Ivana, she would have fired him long ago, saving herself the trouble now.
Mrs. Kane vowed that once she left the hospital room, she would call the company and have finance settle Derrick’s salary and send him packing.
The Dowager Kane said nothing, her gaze turned to Ivana, noticing her calm expression, her eyes flashed with surprise.
The Kane family’s wealth was astonishing, and every socialite in Ravenswood wanted to marry into them. This woman was likely no different.
But... with such an incident, Mrs. Kane pinned all the blame on Ivana. If it were any other woman, she certainly wouldn’t be so composed, they’d be racking their brains trying to explain.
Why isn’t Ivana explaining? She doesn’t even look like she wants to explain?
She realized there were only two possibilities for Ivana’s expression. One was that Ivana was sure Mrs. Kane couldn’t do anything to her. The other was that she simply didn’t care about being the Kane family’s young mistress.
If it were the second, the Dowager Kane would have a higher regard for Ivana.
If it were the first.
The Dowager Kane frowned, for her grandson’s sake, a granddaughter-in-law who’d sow discord between mother and son couldn’t be kept around.
"Ivana is the woman I’ve chosen. In this life, I want no one but her."
Leon Keane’s attitude was firm.
He looked at Ivana, his eyes full of tenderness.
"No one but her? Leon, are you saying you’d abandon both your mom and grandma for this woman?"
"Mom, that’s not what I mean. You and grandma are my family, my elders. Ivana is my wife, the woman I want to grow old with hand in hand. No matter what happens, we will face it together. I hope you can bless us."
"I think you’re bewitched and insist on letting her ruin you."
"Ivana will never harm me."
"Leon, you..."
Mrs. Kane was so angry her eyes turned red, intending to say more?
The Dowager Kane cut her off, "Stop arguing."
Mrs. Kane said wretchedly, "Mom..."
The Dowager Kane spoke angrily, "Your precious grandson is lying sick in bed, as his mother, shouldn’t his health be your priority?"
Mrs. Kane retorted, "Mom, of course, I care about Leon’s health, but this Ivana is a troublemaker. As long as she’s by Leon’s side, I can’t be at ease."
"If you can’t be at ease, then worry less about this."
Mrs. Kane was shocked, looking at the Dowager Kane in disbelief. She was brought back from abroad to stand on the same line as her, to drive Ivana out together.
Because Mrs. Kane knew how much the Dowager Kane adored Leon Keane, her grandson.
Mrs. Kane was confused, why hadn’t things gone as she expected?
Instead, why was she siding with Ivana?
Both Mrs. Kane and Ivana were surprised, they both glanced at the Dowager Kane.
The Dowager Kane gave Ivana a cold look, turning away indifferently. She wasn’t helping Ivana; she was doing it for her precious grandson.
The Dowager Kane sighed inwardly that Mrs. Kane, from a humble family, if it hadn’t been for a marriage contract back then, the Kane family wouldn’t have taken in someone from an impoverished family. Just look at today’s events. Mrs. Kane couldn’t keep her cool and indiscriminately wanted to drive Ivana out in haste.
Had Mrs. Kane considered Leon, who was seriously injured?
No.
At the time, she also looked down on Mrs. Kane, wanting to drive her away too, but the family’s rules made her remain composed, and after Leon was born, she changed her attitude towards Mrs. Kane.
Even though back then, Mrs. Kane still did things she couldn’t stand, because of her precious son who ran off because of Mrs. Kane, she tolerated Mrs. Kane all these years for her precious grandson’s sake.
Now, Leon’s heart was full of Ivana, only with Ivana by his side, could he quickly recover.
Why didn’t Mrs. Kane understand this rationale?
Mrs. Kane still unwilling, still tried to say more, "Mom..."
The Dowager Kane’s eyes flashed with impatience, "You’re getting old, go home and rest!"
The Dowager Kane gave the nod to the driver who had followed them.
The driver nodded and approached Mrs. Kane, "Madam, shall I take you home?"
Mrs. Kane felt reluctant, why should she be sent back?
"Mom, I don’t..."
"Driver."
The Dowager Kane barked out.
The driver felt nervous and said to Mrs. Kane, "The old lady doesn’t come back often, ma’am, you’d better not upset her."
Mrs. Kane paused, no matter how reluctant she was, she dared not defy the Dowager Kane.
As Mrs. Kane left, she glared at Ivana as if she wanted to skin her alive.
Ivana pretended not to see it.
Mrs. Kane walked out of the hospital room with the driver.
The Dowager Kane addressed Ivana.
"Ivana, I have a few words to say to you."
"Please say it, Dowager."
Not calling her grandma, addressing her as Dowager?
The Dowager Kane felt somewhat pleased. If Ivana had affectionately called her "grandma" now, she would have thought Ivana was merely an opportunistic woman because she herself had not yet accepted this "granddaughter-in-law."
"Grandma, don’t scare my wife away."
Leon said with a smile.
"Precious grandson, focus on recovering, don’t overthink, grandma won’t say anything rash."
Ivana raised an eyebrow at the silver-haired, gracefully magnetic elderly lady, realizing she was a doting grandmother.
The Dowager Kane didn’t call Ivana out alone but, in front of Leon, she said a few words instructing Ivana to take good care of Leon and then said nothing more.
The Dowager Kane finished speaking and prepared to leave.
The two children and Aunt Golding returned, carrying food in their hands.
"Madam, why are you here?"
Ian Keane was obviously surprised.
The Dowager Kane heard the familiar voice and turned, stunned — why were there two "Ian Keanes"?
"Ian, the Dowager seems to be seeing things, seeing two of you."
The Dowager Kane rubbed her eyes, overjoyed, and looked at Ian once more, seeing two of them again.
"Dowager, you’re not seeing things." Ian Keane pulled Timmy Monroe over, "He’s my brother, Timmy Monroe."
The Dowager Kane was utterly shocked, "Brother? Timmy... Monroe?"
This child looked exactly like her little Ian, they were identical.
The Dowager Kane crouched down, her well-maintained old hands trembling as she reached out, gently holding Timmy’s face, "Let the Dowager take a good look. Timmy, you and Ian look so much alike, I can’t even tell who’s who, are you twins?"
Before Timmy could speak.
Leon Keane said, "Yes, they are twins."
The Dowager Kane was bewildered, "If they were twins, why weren’t they both brought back earlier?"
