Fierce Daddy: His Million-Dollar Sweetheart
Chapter 516: Time to Play Hardball
CHAPTER 516: CHAPTER 516: TIME TO PLAY HARDBALL
"This... I’m not quite sure."
Leon Keane didn’t tell the truth, and this truth couldn’t be told to The Dowager Kane. His mother’s actions towards Ivana Monroe weren’t honorable. Later, when Ivana became pregnant with two children, his mother definitely knew. As for why she kept Ian Keane and abandoned Timmy Monroe, only his mother knew best.
"Hmph, truly unsure or pretending not to know?"
The Dowager Kane wasn’t so easy to fool.
Look at this little cute boy, pure and innocent in front of her; he was a Kane’s bloodline. He should have been showered with love just like Ian from the moment he was born, yet because his mother didn’t bring him back, he suffered for the first six years outside.
The Dowager Kane couldn’t bear the thought of her descendants suffering in the slightest, and thinking about it, her eyes turned misty.
Leon Keane remained silent. Of course, he was pretending, but he couldn’t speak the truth! Continuing to deceive his grandma was something he couldn’t bring himself to do.
"Can I call you ’Grandma’ like my brother Ian does?"
Timmy Monroe’s clear and lively eyes looked at The Dowager Kane. He thought that besides his daddy and brother, no one in the Kane family would like him. He didn’t expect that this suddenly appearing ’Grandma’ seemed to like him a little.
However, would this ’Grandma’ also dislike his mommy like his mother does, or even want to chase his mommy away?
Timmy Monroe suddenly regretted calling The Dowager Kane ’Grandma’ so soon. If she didn’t accept his mommy, he wouldn’t accept her either.
"Of course you can. I am your Grandma! Grandma’s Little Timmy, Little Timmy, you’ve suffered outside for six years. Let Grandma hug you well."
The Dowager Kane hugged Timmy Monroe into her arms, wanting the little boy to sit on her lap.
Little Timmy, he made her heart ache so much.
"Grandma, Grandma, I can stand. I can’t sit on your lap, I’m heavy. I don’t want to tire you out."
"My Little Timmy, so well-behaved."
The Dowager Kane was deeply moved in her heart. This child was so considerate, so polite.
Timmy Monroe blushed shyly. Being called ’Little Timmy’ by The Dowager Kane gave him a sweet feeling in his heart, most of all, a sense of being cherished, something his mother never gave him.
The Dowager Kane held Timmy Monroe for a while before reluctantly letting him go. Seeing Ian Keane standing by, she felt a bit guilty and beckoned Ian to come over for a hug.
"No more hugs, Grandma. Your legs can barely stand. Sit down and rest for a while!"
Ian Keane spoke like a little adult.
The Dowager Kane had just straightened her legs and then bent them again, feeling awkward. Ivana Monroe supported her from behind, helping her to sit on the seat in front of Leon Keane’s hospital bed.
The Dowager Kane sat down, and Ivana Monroe poured a glass of water over.
Ivana Monroe didn’t say anything, simply handing the glass of water to The Dowager Kane. Her expression remained indifferent, neither ingratiating nor fawning, as if she would do the same for anyone else.
The Dowager Kane saw all this and felt differently towards Ivana Monroe than when she had just arrived; instead of dislike, Ivana Monroe’s attitude, along with Little Timmy’s appearance, changed her perspective a bit.
A woman who could independently raise her son to be so polite and considerate couldn’t be that bad.
The attitude she had with Ivana Monroe when she came in with his mother was heavily influenced by his mother’s gossip and the fact that Leon was badly burned. It was only in her lost state of mind that she lashed out at Ivana Monroe.
On the other side.
Leaving the hospital, Leon’s mother sat in the car and dialed a call.
"I want you to fire Derrick Stern right now."
The person on the other end was taken aback.
"Madam Kane, Derrick Stern is someone close to President Kane. It’s not possible for anyone but President Kane to fire him, and I don’t have that authority!"
"You’re the HR manager, and you tell me you don’t have the authority?"
"Yes...yes, Madam Kane, I also work for President Kane!"
"I don’t care, you must fire Derrick Stern immediately. If your President Kane questions it, just tell him to come find me."
Leon’s mother said and hung up without giving the HR manager a chance to speak.
Her chest heaved heavily, full of anger.
A moment later, her breathing became smoother. Having dealt with Derrick Stern, Ivana Monroe was next.
Her father was right: Ivana Monroe was a scourge in the Kane family. She would not only take the Kane family’s money for the Monroe family but also bring disaster to Leon.
Ivana Monroe was nothing but a malicious star of misfortune.
Leon’s mother’s phone rang again. She picked it up, seeing it was a call from Mr. Price.
"Dad, do you need something?"
"Would I call you if I didn’t need something? Did you sort out that money issue?"
Hearing Mr. Price asking for money made her uncomfortable. When would he stop asking her for money?
"Dad, last time we agreed it was the last time. You can’t keep asking me for money endlessly, can you? Besides, the sum is so huge, I really can’t handle it."
"Nanny, speak with your conscience. Have I been constantly asking you for money? I just asked a few times, and you’re already complaining about your own father? Don’t forget who raised you with so much care growing up. You need to be grateful and support your family."
"Look at Ivana Monroe. She just married into the Kane family and knows to channel money back to her family. What about you? You’ve been married into the Kane family for thirty years, and only in recent years did you start sending money home. You’re worlds apart from Ivana."
Hearing about Ivana Monroe angered her.
"Dad, can you stop mentioning Ivana Monroe?"
"I wouldn’t mention her if I didn’t have to, but the fact is clear. Nanny, if you can’t keep up with Ivana Monroe, you’ll deeply disappoint your father."
"Who says I can’t compare to Ivana Monroe? The Kane family assets will never fall into her hands."
"Right, you must hold onto the Kane family assets tightly; don’t let Ivana take charge of the finances. The Kane family has so many assets. Transfer ten billion to Jackie’s account tomorrow."
"Jackie is the foundation of the Price family. You should help him more. When he becomes successful, he will surely honor you, the relative who helped him the most. Nanny, don’t get confused and fail to recognize who’s truly helpful to you. Look at Ivana Monroe, she’s as sly as a fox, knowing how to siphon the Kane family’s money back to her own family."
"Why are you bringing up Ivana Monroe again?" Leon’s mother was so angry she wanted to slam the phone: "Ten billion is too much. Later, I’ll find a way to get Jackie ten million. That’s the most I can do."
Mr. Price had the speaker on, and Lucas Pierce was listening nearby.
Hearing Leon’s mother’s words, both showed expressions of finding her stingy.
Lucas Pierce leaned in close to Mr. Price’s ear and whispered: "Grandpa, hit hard. Just say what I told you earlier."
