CHAPTER 531: CHAPTER 531: THE TRUTH

Ivana Monroe looked at her without any fear of Mrs. Kane, her eyes flashed with an obscure light. Bringing both children here was not only for the matriarch to see but for a more important matter.

"Ian, come and show grandma your leg."

Mrs. Kane’s heart ached the most for Ian Keane. She didn’t have much concern for the injury on Timmy Monroe’s hand.

You could say, even if Timmy Monroe lost a piece of flesh, it wouldn’t make Mrs. Kane feel as much pain as Ian falling would.

"Grandma, I’m fine."

Ian Keane pulled down his pant leg, completely different from when he showed the matriarch earlier.

"It’s swollen so big, how could you be fine? Come here, Ian."

Tears welled up in Mrs. Kane’s eyes, her heart filled with resentment. Ian was pretending to be fine just to cover up for Ivana. Her poor Ian would never know how vicious Ivana’s intentions were.

Ian considered Ivana his mom, but unfortunately, Ivana didn’t treat Ian as her son. She hadn’t taken care of Ian for a single day. These six years, she only cared for Timmy Monroe. In that woman’s heart, Timmy was undoubtedly the most important. Everything she did was paving the way for Timmy. Who knows, she might be plotting how to ruin Ian and set Timmy up as the future heir of the Kane Group!

Mrs. Kane gritted her teeth silently; she wouldn’t let such things happen.

"Grandma, I’m really fine; you don’t need to see."

Ian was pulled over by Mrs. Kane, furrowing his little brows as he spoke.

"Nonsense."

Mrs. Kane pulled Ian into her arms and began to roll up his trousers.

"Cough, cough."

The matriarch furrowed her brows, coughing to remind Mrs. Kane. She wasn’t pleased with her behavior. Ian is your precious grandson, but what about Little Timmy? Seeing how much you care for Ian, can’t you spare a bit of that concern for Little Timmy?

Little Timmy is also part of the Kane family.

At such an age, how can you not understand this simple truth?

Mrs. Kane’s heart was with Ian, ignoring the matriarch’s cough. Even if she heard it, she didn’t want to care about Timmy. That child was nothing but an ungrateful little brat, always siding with his mother and opposing her.

What use is such a grandson?

"Oh my! My darling grandson, your leg is hurt so badly. Grandma’s heart is breaking."

Tears fell from Mrs. Kane’s eyes as she tightly hugged Ian in her arms.

The matriarch observed Timmy Monroe beside her, seeing no jealousy or disappointment on the little boy’s face, only calmness, as if Mrs. Kane wasn’t his grandmother but a stranger.

The matriarch’s heart ached. What had Mrs. Kane done in the past to make Little Timmy so indifferent to her?

Little Timmy wasn’t inherently a cold person, quite different from Ian. When he first saw her, he cheerfully called her "Ma’am." She believed Ian would also be enthusiastic and excited to call Mrs. Kane "Grandma" when he first met her.

"Little Timmy, come here... let Ma’am hold you. If others don’t love you, Ma’am will give you twice the love."

The matriarch disapproved of Mrs. Kane’s biased attitude, pulling Timmy Monroe into her embrace, patting his little head with affection.

"Ma’am, Little Timmy is loved! Loved by you, loved by Mommy, loved by Daddy, and loved by Brother. So many people love Little Timmy, making him very happy!"

Timmy Monroe grinned, showing his white teeth. The smile on the little boy’s face was full of sunshine. The matriarch saw it and was infected by it, starting to smile as well. What a sensible child.

"Little Timmy is right, you’re a happy little darling."

The matriarch praised.

Mrs. Kane saw how well the matriarch treated Timmy Monroe and deliberately said such things to provoke her. Mrs. Kane’s chest heaved; she believed Timmy was merely taught by Ivana to vie for the inheritance. If the matriarch couldn’t see it, fine, but did she have to be so fooled as to genuinely sympathize with Timmy?

Mrs. Kane’s eyes flashed darkly. She released Ian and turned to Ivana with anger: "Ivana, do you realize your mistake?"

The matriarch frowned; wouldn’t this Mrs. Kane ever stop?

"I don’t know what I did wrong?" Ivana remained calm.

The matriarch couldn’t help but look at Ivana. On the phone, she didn’t speak this way. Why the change in front of Mrs. Kane?

"Alright! I see you won’t cry until you see the coffin," Mrs. Kane said. "Initially, I didn’t want to worry my aged mother, but I can’t hold it in anymore because my forbearance only makes you more unscrupulous in harming my grandson."

Mrs. Kane spoke of her grandson, referring to only one, which carried a significant implication.

"Ha... Timmy and Ian are also my sons, my own. I honestly don’t know how I could harm my own sons?" Ivana said lightly, with a gleam in her eyes.

The point she was waiting for was close.

She suspected Mrs. Kane was Harrison Horn’s backer.

"Your own? You have the nerve to call them your own sons?" Mrs. Kane anxiously wanted to expose Ivana in front of the matriarch: "You injured Timmy to flaunt your authority at the company and accidentally hurt Ian too; do you want to deny it?"

"How do you know? Did Harrison Horn call you?"

"Yes, that’s right, Ivana. What more do you have to say?"

Ivana’s heart sank; Harrison Horn’s backer was indeed Mrs. Kane.

She hadn’t expected Mrs. Kane to do such a thing.

Ivana looked at the matriarch, seeing the shock in the old woman’s eyes. She didn’t explain nor mention the matter of Mrs. Kane and Harrison Horn embezzling eight hundred million, fearing the old woman couldn’t withstand such news.

She needed to discuss it with Leon Keane and see what he had to say.

"Haha..." Ivana chuckled coldly, but before she could speak.

The two little boys spoke first.

"Mommy didn’t hurt me—it was Harrison Horn who pushed me."

"Mommy didn’t hit me—it was Harrison Horn who punched my leg."

The matriarch heard this and was furious: "It’s outrageous, daring to lay hands on my Little Timmy and Ian! Fire him at once, deduct all remaining salary and bonuses, and let him be gone from the Kane Group."

"Mom, don’t just listen to Ivana’s side of the story..." Mrs. Kane naturally didn’t believe Ivana.

"Shut up! This is from the mouths of the two children, not Ivana. Don’t throw all filth on your daughter-in-law," the matriarch said angrily. "Don’t forget, Ivana is the birth mother of the two kids; you’d rather believe others than their mother? What kind of mother-in-law are you?"

Ivana paused, looking at the matriarch, feeling a warmth in her heart as the elderly lady stood up for her.

Agitated, the elder’s breathing grew unsteady, beginning to wheeze.

Ivana hurried over to help the elder calm down: "Ma’am, the Madame didn’t mean it that way, don’t get upset. I think there’s just a misunderstanding."
