CHAPTER 576: CHAPTER 576: TRUTH OR LIES?

The driver arrived at the Kane family’s old residence but couldn’t pick up Ian Keane, not even catching a glimpse of the mother.

He asked the maid, who said she didn’t know anything, and no matter how he inquired, the maid wouldn’t give him any information.

This made the driver anxious and he promptly called Leon Keane, informing him about the situation at the old Kane residence.

"Didn’t you pick up your brother?"

Timmy Monroe was astute. Observing Leon Keane’s expression while he took the call, he could guess something was amiss.

Leon Keane raised his hand, gently ruffling Timmy’s hair, and said warmly, "It’s okay. Grandma usually dotes on Ian the most; she wouldn’t ignore Ian’s injury."

Timmy Monroe said, "I don’t have a grandma."

Leon Keane gazed deeply at the stubborn little face of the boy, saying nothing. His mother had done hurtful things to Ivana Monroe, and Timmy disliked her, refusing to acknowledge her as his grandma. Leon had nothing more to add.

Settling Timmy safely.

Leon Keane dialed his mother’s phone.

Surprisingly, she answered quickly.

"Sob sob... Leon, your grandma has been in an accident..."

"Where are you?"

"I... I took Ian outside... Leon, listen to Mom. Today, your grandma kindly invited Ivana Monroe over, intending to distribute the remaining assets fairly between Ian and Timmy. Who knew Ivana would make unreasonable demands, asking your grandma to give all her assets to Timmy, saying Ian has always lived with the Kane family, enjoying a privileged life, and shouldn’t compete with Timmy for grandma’s assets..."

Leon Keane frowned. His mother probably didn’t know he was already at the hospital and had seen his grandma.

"But Ian is also a child that the elderly watched grow! How could your grandma possibly listen to Ivana? Yet Ivana turned vicious as if possessed, aggressively pushing your grandma down and even told her to die, sob sob sob...."

The mother said "sadly": "Following that, your grandma took a serious fall, with the back of her head bleeding. She was so furious that she almost passed out, demanding Ivana to leave the Kane family, but who knew..."

"Who knew Ivana arrogantly said... you were already in her grasp, and even if she left the Kane family today, you would beg her to come back. To prove her importance to you, she even signed a divorce agreement, saying if you come looking for her, she’ll accuse me of forcing her to sign it, and surely you would disown me as your mother for her."

"Sob sob sob... Leon, would you really do as she says?"

His mother cried intensely over the phone, feeling a bit anxious. Leon cared most about the old woman, and now Ivana had "pushed" the old woman, causing the back of her head to bleed. Leon should have no reason to like Ivana anymore.

Leon Keane’s heart wrenched sharply, filled with disappointment. Is this his mother? Is she the woman he knows? It seemed not. His mother should’ve been kind, respectful to the elderly, not so insidiously changed, even resorting to lies to frame Ivana.

"Tell me, where are you? I want to see you now."

Leon Keane took a deep breath, clenching his fingers tightly, trying to speak calmly to his mother.

His mother’s heart skipped a beat; why wasn’t Leon angry? Shouldn’t he be furious, swearing never to let Ivana step into the Kane family’s threshold again? Why did he calmly say he wanted to meet her?

An ominous feeling grew within her.

"I... I am outside with Ian, Ivana injured Ian’s hand, so I took him to the hospital."

"Come to XX Hospital! Grandma is here too."

"What? You saw your grandma? Did she say anything to you?"

His mother’s heart tightened with fear.

The old woman should’ve fallen to death; if she had died then, she could more effectively pin the blame on Ivana.

"What do you hope grandma said to me?"

Leon Keane asked lightly.

"No... nothing..." His mother continued, "Ian’s hand is severely injured. Grandma’s hospital is a bit far; I’ll find a nearby hospital to treat Ian."

"Alright."

Leon Keane agreed readily, which relieved his mother, allowing her to hang up the phone.

His mother looked at Ian Keane, whose mouth was sealed with transparent tape, and said with a little pain, "Ian, Grandma doesn’t want to treat you this way, but Ivana is too wicked. You still want to acknowledge such a terrible woman as your mommy and even oppose grandma for her."

Ian Keane coldly stared at his mother, his icy gaze piercing her heart like an arrow.

"Ian, don’t look at Grandma like that." His mother couldn’t handle it, yelling at Ian Keane, "How am I not better than Ivana? For six years, I’ve held you dear, afraid to drop you, cherished you so you wouldn’t fade away. Ivana has only taken care of you for a few days, yet you’re so close to her?"

The sharpness in Ian Keane’s eyes gradually disappeared. Grandma has treated him well, he remembers that, and wanted to repay her when he grows up.

However, Ivana is his mommy, unique, having carried him for nine months and birthed him. The blood flowing through his veins is his mommy’s blood; without mommy, there wouldn’t be Ian.

Therefore, it’s incomparable; grandma shouldn’t have gone against his mommy.

His mother noticed Ian Keane was no longer looking at her like an enemy, so she reached out and hugged him, crying, "Ian, Grandma was wrong, Grandma shouldn’t have yelled at you. Listen to Grandma, if you meet Daddy, tell him it was Ivana who pushed your grandma, everything Grandma says is true, okay?"

His mother strongly wanted to bring Ian to her side.

With Ian’s help, Leon would believe her because he knows Ian has never lied.

Ian Keane was silent for a moment.

His mother was quite anxious, would this child agree or not? Ian, don’t let Grandma down!

Ian Keane nodded.

His mother was ecstatic, hugging Ian and kissing his forehead twice, "Ian, you’re truly Grandma’s good grandson, Grandma does everything for you, to eliminate Ivana and Timmy. In the future, all of the Kane family’s assets will be yours alone."

His mother didn’t notice the disdain and disappointment in Ian’s lowered gaze.

Nearing dusk, his mother took Ian to have stitches and get anti-inflammatory fluids. Returning to the Kane family’s old residence, she called Leon Keane, inviting him over.

After about half an hour.

Leon Keane drove to the Kane family’s old residence.

Upon seeing Leon Keane, his mother cried miserably, opening Ian’s stitched palm for Leon to see.

"Leon, look, how cruel Ivana is? She harmed the elderly and didn’t hesitate to hurt Ian either. The doctor said if the wound were a little deeper, Ian’s hands would be crippled."

Leon Keane looked at Ian’s injured palms, more severely than Timmy’s, with stitches on both palms.

"Ian, is what Grandma said true or false?"
