Fierce Daddy: His Million-Dollar Sweetheart
Chapter 582: This Discovery
CHAPTER 582: CHAPTER 582: THIS DISCOVERY
"You... you bunch of useless fools, all of you come back here!"
Lucas Pierce saw that the Eight Melodies had all run away and was furious, especially Mr. Price, who was hopping mad.
"This is outrageous! You took my grandson’s money, and now you won’t work for him. Get back here and spit the money out..."
Mr. Price cursed and swore, but unfortunately, the Eight Melodies were already far gone.
They had indeed taken the money and done the job, but was it worth getting beaten up over a few hundred bucks?
They weren’t operating on a few million dollars, so why were Mr. Price and Lucas Pierce acting like it?
The Eight Melodies ran off.
The bodyguards stepped in front of Mr. Price and Lucas Pierce.
Lucas Pierce instantly hid behind Mr. Price, placing both hands on his shoulders like a turtle retreating into its shell: "Grandpa, the Kane family’s bodyguards mean harm to your grandson."
Mr. Price, protective of this only sprout of the Price family, puffed out his chest and said, "You dare lay a finger on my grandson? I’ll use my old life to drag all of you to prison and have you executed."
"Ha..."
Ivana Monroe laughed out loud.
"What’s so funny?"
Mr. Price asked Ivana Monroe angrily.
"Laughing at your stupidity," Ivana Monroe said. "This is Kane family territory, with their surveillance cameras everywhere. Even if you and your grandson were beaten to death here, I could make it look like an accident."
Seeing the fear on Mr. Price and Lucas Pierce’s faces, Ivana continued.
"If you both die accidentally, you won’t get a single penny, and you’ll lose your lives for nothing."
"Ivana... you vicious woman... My aunt won’t let you get away with this once she knows," Lucas Pierce paused. "Do you know why I call her aunt instead of auntie? Because I’m the only heir to the Price family and considered half a son to my aunt."
No wonder!
Normally, Lucas Pierce should call Leon’s mother ’auntie,’ since ’aunt’ is for relatives on Leon’s father’s side, those with the surname Kane. Lucas Pierce shouldn’t be using it.
However, there was another explanation: the Price family deliberately tried to cling to the Kane family, making Lucas Pierce call Leon’s mother ’aunt.’ It’s like some families call their grandfather ’grandpa,’ giving grandpa-like treatment to the child’s maternal grandfather, effectively treating him as family.
"Bah~," The Dowager Kane spat. "Shameless! You think I don’t see through your little schemes? You’re just trying to get money out of the Kane family by playing the ’half-son’ card."
The Dowager Kane saw through it all.
"The Price family never scammed the Kane family. My aunt is my grandfather’s daughter. Her filial duty to support me as a junior is only natural."
Lucas Pierce argued stubbornly.
"Grandma, don’t waste words on them."
As soon as the Dowager Kane heard "Grandma," her eyes reddened, tears nearly spilling out.
Ivana Monroe said to Lucas Pierce, "I’ll give you thirty seconds. If you don’t leave, the Kane family bodyguards won’t be gentle with you. As for whether Leon’s mother will let me go, she must stand in front of me first. Since you’ve been in contact with her, you should know her influence is gone, and she holds no authority in the Kane family now. I’m in charge here."
"You vicious little wench... You..."
Mr. Price didn’t get to finish.
"Hit him."
Ivana Monroe gave an icy command.
A bodyguard punched, knocking out two of Mr. Price’s front teeth and filling his mouth with blood.
Lucas Pierce was terrified.
"Ivana, you’ll wait and see."
After saying this, Lucas Pierce did not care for Mr. Price’s safety and ran off first.
When the second punch was thrown at Mr. Price, his eyes almost popped out in fear, and he screamed "Ah~," turning around to flee. However, he was much slower than Lucas Pierce, escaping like a flustered old turtle.
Ivana Monroe watched this scene, feeling speechless. She had thought that at least Lucas Pierce would drag Mr. Price along while escaping, but the cowardly wimp abandoned the old man and ran first.
Ivana Monroe felt no sympathy for Mr. Price; judging by his actions, doting on his grandson, he had turned Lucas Pierce into an extremely selfish person. In danger, Lucas Pierce would push Mr. Price into the flames to save himself, leaving no one else to blame but Mr. Price himself.
And so, the farce ended.
The Dowager Kane and Ivana Monroe returned to the villa.
The Dowager Kane greatly appreciated Ivana Monroe’s approach, praising her actions. Honestly, when Ivana called for the bodyguards to beat Mr. Price, she felt it was beautiful. She had always tolerated the Price family out of deference to Leon’s mother, but the Price family kept pushing further. After Ivana’s lesson, they probably wouldn’t cause trouble again.
"If Leon’s mother asks about this, I’ll take the responsibility for you."
The Dowager Kane assured Ivana with a pounding chest.
"Alright."
Ivana looked at the Dowager Kane and smiled. It wasn’t that she feared Leon’s mother, but if Leon’s mother found out, she might suppress Ivana with authority, which would be very bothersome. Having the Dowager Kane on her side resolved everything at once.
F Country, on a small island.
Leon Keane was almost tirelessly searching, bringing in every yacht he could command, and every salvageable area had been searched, yet there was no sign of his mother. Every nook on the island had been checked, save for turning over the rat holes, but still no sign of his mother.
"President Keane, if you continue like this, your health won’t hold up. Please rest for a few hours!"
The bodyguards on the island saw Leon Keane’s bloodshot eyes and his handsome face filled with exhaustion, fearing that continuing like this, he might drop dead suddenly.
"I’m fine, keep searching."
Leon shook his head. He had been regretting these past few days, realizing he shouldn’t have sent his mother to the island. She should have been sent to a retirement home in Meridia, where there were professional caregivers. Even if she left, she wouldn’t have lost her life.
Someone came running in a hurry.
"President Keane, we found this in the sea."
The rescuer carried a plastic bag soaking with seawater clothes inside.
Leon took it and saw familiar clothing lying within—his mother wore this jacket the day she was sent to the island.
Leon’s mind went blank, and he immediately understood; his mother likely faced grim prospects. He yelled at the rescue team, "Keep searching! Find my mother for me!"
The rescuers were terrified, not daring to defy Leon. "Yes, President Keane, I’ll get right on it."
Once they left.
Leon grasped his mother’s clothes and crouched, trembling, eyes seemingly stung by sand, while burning liquid streaked down his cheeks.
Moments later.
Leon stood up to join the rescue team. As he tried to hold onto the clothing, it slipped from his grip, falling to the ground, and something slid out of the pocket.
