Fierce Daddy: His Million-Dollar Sweetheart
Chapter 589: Driven Mad with Rage
CHAPTER 589: CHAPTER 589: DRIVEN MAD WITH RAGE
"Mrs. Kane, please don’t get agitated. You organized this press conference and invited us here. It’s important to see it through to the end and give the viewers in front of their TVs a proper explanation..."
"That’s right! Mrs. Kane shouldn’t speak like that. You found us bothersome, but when you invited us, why didn’t you find us bothersome then?"
Now that the truth is out, she finds them bothersome?
People can be ridiculous at times.
"Even if you’re Leon Keane’s mother, you can’t just push reporters around and hurt them, Mrs. Kane. Your actions are embarrassing Leon Keane, you know~"
The situation had reversed, and the reporters developed a dislike for Leon’s mother. Honestly, seeing such a malicious elite from the Kane family was both terrifying and infuriating.
Besides, they weren’t paid off by her, so who would stand up for her?
"Get out! I told you to get out! What do you think you are? The lowest creatures in Ravenswood..."
Leon’s mother pushed another reporter down and stormed out like a madwoman.
"She’s running away, let’s chase..."
"Alright."
The reporters wouldn’t let such a good opportunity pass by. Disliking Leon’s mother was one thing, but seeking traffic was another. Surely, many viewers also hoped she’d provide an explanation.
Even if she couldn’t give that explanation, chasing her with cameras would still attract a lot of attention, and all that equates to traffic!
Ivana’s voice came over at this moment.
"Don’t chase her anymore. Spare her, if you can. This farce is over."
Even though the camera wasn’t aimed at Ivana, her voice was still captured, and everyone watching the live stream could hear it.
The reporters wanted to chase, but they couldn’t anymore because Ivana said so. If they continued, the commercial interests would be apparent, and the audience would notice, making future traffic hard to guarantee.
Today’s audience is hard to please and shouldn’t be offended.
End the farce.
Ivana walked out of the building.
"Ivana, why did you help Leon’s mother at the end? She’s just an old witch who maliciously harmed you; you should’ve let the reporters chase her and drive her to despair," Fawn said, feeling indignant for Ivana.
"You don’t understand," Stacy said. "Ivana wasn’t helping Leon’s mother; she was maintaining her own kind image."
Fawn smirked, "Ivana is kind by nature. She doesn’t need to deliberately maintain it. I just feel that today’s punishment for Leon’s mother, the old witch, was too light."
"She’ll get her comeuppance," Stacy said.
Ivana looked at the two and said, "Actually, there’s another reason. I don’t want those reporters to take advantage of it."
When she first came in, how did the reporters treat her? She used the same method on Leon’s mother now.
She disliked Leon’s mother, but wouldn’t let unethical reporters earn traffic from it.
Besides, now that the truth is out, Leon’s mother’s reputation is completely ruined, like a rat on the street. Her goal is achieved. Leon’s mother won’t be able to stir up trouble anymore.
Lucas Pierce’s car was just outside. When he saw Leon’s mother running down, he was a bit surprised but didn’t think much of it, smiling as she got into the car.
"Auntie, how did it go? Ivana is definitely done for now."
Leon’s mother didn’t respond, panting heavily. Running like crazy just now had exhausted her.
A real ordeal. She had never run so frantically in her life, as if a pack of mad dogs was chasing her. Now she finally got rid of those mad dogs.
"Auntie, why aren’t you answering me?"
Lucas hadn’t watched the live broadcast and eagerly awaited Leon’s mother to share Ivana’s misfortune.
"Say no more. First, take me to the old Kane family residence."
Leon’s mother’s heartbeat
hadn’t calmed down yet. She clenched her fingers, determined to see which servant had the audacity to secretly fix the cameras in the old house and hand the video to Ivana?
Lucas’s heart sank. He looked over at Leon’s mother: no trace of joy on her face, only a dismal expression. Did Auntie miscalculate?
Lucas’s mood worsened. If Auntie failed, Leon Keane would send her away again. What benefits could he possibly score then?
Now that Ivana was in charge of the Kane family, and that woman, detestable as she was, wouldn’t spare him any money.
The car arrived at the old Kane family residence.
Leon’s mother stormed in, brimming with anger, and said to a housemaid she encountered, "Gather everyone in the villa to the living room. I have something to ask."
The housemaid was startled. Mrs. Kane had been sent to a deserted island in F Country by President Kane, hadn’t she? How did she come back?
"Oh~ okay, I’ll do it right away."
The housemaid didn’t dare offend Leon’s mother and quickly ran off to gather everyone in the villa into the living room.
Leon’s mother and Lucas sat on the sofa.
Once everyone was assembled, Leon’s mother picked up Lucas’s ashtray and smashed it on the floor with force.
Everyone jumped in fright, even Lucas was startled.
"Who touched that camera?"
Leon’s mother pointed at a spot in the living room where a camera was mounted.
Everyone shook their heads.
"Mrs. Kane, no one touched it. Besides, that camera is broken. Didn’t you say not to let anyone fix it? It’s still broken," one of the maids whispered.
"Broken?" Leon’s mother sneered, "Then how did Ivana get her hands on the video from here? A broken camera that can record videos?"
The housemaid was too scared to speak. Indeed it was broken; no one had tampered with it!
"Mrs. Kane, there’s more than one camera in the living room," the driver of the old Kane family residence quietly mentioned at this point.
"What?" Leon’s mother shrieked.
The driver pointed to another corner where a lesser-known camera was conspicuously placed. "President Kane instructed me to install it and not to tell anyone, so I didn’t."
Leon’s mother paled, her body swaying. She never expected Leon Keane to have installed another camera in the old house and instructed the driver not to tell anyone.
Was Leon secretly monitoring her?
Leon’s mother was filled with hatred and deep regret. She should never have brought Leon Keane back—she should’ve killed him back then. Raising him painstakingly only for the ungrateful wretch to turn against her.
She grabbed something and, like a madwoman, hurled it at the camera.
Lucas’s mind was full of questions. After Leon’s mother’s outburst, he couldn’t help but ask, "Auntie, what exactly happened?"
Leon’s mother shoved Lucas aside in anger, eyes red. "What happened? Go ask Leon Keane!"
On the verge of losing her mind...
On her way home in the car, Ivana received a call from Leon Keane.
Raising an eyebrow, Ivana answered the call.
"Honey..."
Leon’s voice was hoarse and weary as if he hadn’t rested well in a long time.
"Hm? When are you coming back?"
"I’m sorry..."
