Fierce Daddy: His Million-Dollar Sweetheart
Chapter 595: Awaiting Imprisonment
CHAPTER 595: CHAPTER 595: AWAITING IMPRISONMENT
"Are you out of your mind?" Lucas Pierce shouted angrily, "Even if you get shut down, my company won’t be."
"President Pierce, really, if you don’t believe me, take a look."
The seal, black and white, was pasted on the tightly closed doors of Micro-Assets. Lucas Pierce felt a shiver run down his spine. He approached and ripped the seal off, his eyes blazing, "Who’s playing a prank, putting this jinxed thing on my company’s door? My company neither owes money nor withholds employees’ wages, there’s no way it would be shut down."
After his outburst, Lucas Pierce waved his hand grandly at the employees, "Get back to work, all of you. If you see this sort of thing again, tear it off right away. Don’t let me see it again, or you’re all out of a job."
This was really intolerable. Yesterday, that bastard Leon Keane misled him, resulting in a ten-million-dollar loss. Then, this morning, he came to work to see such infuriating news.
Lucas Pierce’s eyes suddenly narrowed. Could it be that Leon Keane sent someone to plot against him, pasting the seal on his company’s door?
That bastard, he’s so sneaky.
Then again, Leon Keane playing these childish tricks only meant he wasn’t capable of toppling him. If he were, that bastard’s nature would be swift and decisive, not giving his company a chance to continue.
Lucas Pierce smirked maliciously, "Leon Keane, you’re such a bastard, trying to outsmart me? I’ll finish you off."
He planned to recruit some big shots in Ravenswood to bring down that bastard Leon Keane.
As he was thinking this, a few police officers suddenly approached and cuffed Lucas Pierce directly.
"Hey, what are you doing? On what grounds are you cuffing me? Release me, I warn you, release me. I am the president of Micro-Assets, you can’t afford to offend me." Lucas Pierce remained arrogant, thinking these cops must have arrested the wrong person.
"Are you Lucas Pierce?"
"Yes, that’s right. Since you know I’m President Pierce, why are you still doing this? Do you want to lose your jobs? I can make it happen for you."
Lucas Pierce was almost infuriated to death. Were these guys blind? Knowing who he was, they still dared to treat him like this?
Wait...
They knew who he was? Why were they still arresting him?
A bad feeling surfaced in his heart.
"President Pierce, stop being arrogant. Tax evasion, ripping off the seal privately, you’re heading to jail!"
The accusation hit Lucas Pierce like a ton of bricks, his eyes started flickering, a sign of guilt.
Indeed, he had been evading taxes, but his finance department had assured him nothing would go wrong. How... how was he found out?
"I’m innocent! I didn’t evade taxes, I’m a good citizen of Ravenswood..."
Lucas Pierce began to claim injustice.
"Since you’re saying you’re innocent, then come with us. If there’s really nothing, we’ll clear your name, but if there is, the evidence is overwhelming." The police officer sneered. They’ve seen such scenarios several times; every corporate boss caught for tax evasion claimed they’re wronged.
These people only tell the truth when the evidence is laid out in front of them.
Lucas Pierce was taken away, and the employees were also all driven out.
Micro-Assets was sealed again.
The employees gathered outside, all with anxious expressions.
"President Pierce was arrested, and the company is sealed. What about our salaries for this month?"
"Will our salaries not be paid? With full attendance, my salary this month is ten thousand."
"What’s that? Last month, President Pierce asked me to invest, and I invested half a million... now it’s probably all gone."
"..."
The employees exchanged words, all with mournful faces.
Someone suddenly shouted.
"I know where President Pierce lives! If they don’t pay us in two days, I’ll take you all to his house. He lives in a high-end neighborhood; we’ll demand he sells his house to pay us."
"That’s right, I invested half a million, and that’s not only all my savings but also borrowed from relatives and friends. He must sell his house to repay us."
"I also invested three hundred thousand..."
All the employees were in agreement.
After all the employees dispersed, a man in casual clothes took out his phone and made a call.
"President Keane, Lucas Pierce has been taken away, and his hundreds of employees are planning to go to his house in two days to cause a ruckus, forcing him to sell his house to pay wages."
"Hmm, understood."
Leon Keane stood on the balcony, his tall figure and handsome face basked in the morning light, melting away some of the coldness and adding some warmth. He turned around as he heard someone knocking on the door.
"Ivana, are you awake? Come down for breakfast and join Grandma for some card games!"
The one knocking was the Matriarch. After playing cards with Ivana Monroe and Fawn Rhodes yesterday, she also followed Fawn and started calling Ivana "Ivana." It really felt affectionate to call her that way.
"Awake, awake, Grandma, the door’s not locked, please come in."
Ivana Monroe was a bit surprised; Grandma’s "gambling itch" was quite intense!
Yesterday, she and Fawn played cards with the old lady for a total of five or six hours, and the old lady got hooked, unable to stop.
Leon Keane raised an eyebrow and walked into the room, seeing the Matriarch smile broadly as she came in, seemingly ignoring him, her grandson, as she took Ivana’s hand: "I analyzed last night, I made a few wrong moves that allowed you to win. Today, I won’t make mistakes and I’m going to beat you."
Ivana smiled, "Alright, Grandma."
The Matriarch was even more delighted. The more she looked at Ivana Monroe, the more she liked her. Previously, she was influenced by Leon’s mother to think poorly of Ivana, but now she realized that Ivana was not only kind-hearted but also genuinely good-natured. She was willing to accompany the old lady in playing cards, regardless of how she talked or how competitive she was. Ivana always maintained a smile, calm and composed, playing her cards steadily.
The Matriarch could tell that Ivana was sincerely accompanying her without a hint of perfunctory, and her grandson Leon Keane marrying Ivana was truly a blessing.
Ivana was pulled along by the Matriarch, and she looked back at Leon Keane, saying, "Honey, come down for breakfast together!"
Leon nodded, "Okay."
Just after speaking, the Matriarch said, "Don’t mind him."
Leon Keane: "..."
Now that Grandma had Ivana, was he, her grandson, of no use?
Leon Keane smiled helplessly and followed the two downstairs.
After breakfast.
The Matriarch spoke to the two kids, "Timmy, Ian, today you’re both sitting next to Grandma as her advisors."
Fawn Rhodes widened her eyes, "Matriarch, are you trying to cheat?"
Ian was a very smart kid. Sitting by her side yesterday, he already learned how to play cards. Timmy had been able to play cards for a long time, and his skill was above hers. With the Matriarch pulling the two kids to her side, how could this be fair?
The Matriarch asked Ivana, "Ivana, am I cheating like this?"
Ivana smiled, "No."
The Matriarch immediately said to Fawn Rhodes, "Did you hear that? Ivana says it’s not cheating. Two out of three rounds, you lost."
Fawn Rhodes’ lips twitched, looking pitifully at Ivana, "Ivana, you’re biased..."
On the other side, Mr. Pierce received a call from Lucas Pierce.
As Lucas Pierce opened his mouth, he startled Mr. Pierce.
"Grandpa, save me..."
