Fierce Daddy: His Million-Dollar Sweetheart
Chapter 604: Women and Children
CHAPTER 604: CHAPTER 604: WOMEN AND CHILDREN
"Who do you think you are? Just because someone needs care, does my sister-in-law have to stay and take care of you?" Jade Yeats had seen shameless people, but Chantel was the most shameless she’d ever seen.
"I’m talking to your sister-in-law, not you. Why are you meddling?" Chantel realized that Jade wasn’t someone easy to talk to, so she turned her attention to Ivy Linden: "You’re a mother, you should know how hard it is for a girl out there alone. Can you imagine if I were your daughter, lying in a hospital bed because of an accident, wouldn’t you be heartbroken? Wouldn’t you hope for a good person to lend a helping hand?"
Jade Yeats almost laughed in anger: "Are you my sister-in-law’s daughter? My sister-in-law’s daughter wouldn’t be as shameless as you, knowing the neighbor is pregnant and has a child, yet selfishly disregarding her health and the child’s, forcing her to take care of you."
Jade then spoke to Nicole: "Nicole, remember, if you encounter anything in the future, just call me. Don’t learn from such people, selfish and shameless."
Nicole nodded vigorously, beginning to dislike the aunt in the hospital bed: "Auntie Yeats, Nicole will remember."
"Who are you calling shameless? Ow~" Chantel cried out in pain from her wound acting up due to anger.
"I’ll go get a doctor for you." Ivy was afraid Chantel’s wound might open up.
"Sister-in-law, I’ll go with you. Let’s just tell the doctor and leave! Shameless people like this won’t care about your health. Whose body isn’t important? Besides, you’re pregnant."
Though harsh, it was the truth.
Ivy was thinking the same.
Chantel almost wanted to kill Jade Yeats. If it weren’t for her, Ivy would have listened to her and stayed to take care of her. It was all because of that spoilsport, Jade.
"You’re just a cold-blooded, selfish person. Neighbor, don’t listen to her. If no one takes care of me, I’ll die here..."
"Then just die!"
Jade held Ivy’s arm and gave Chantel a mocking glance.
"You..." Chantel was so angry her chest hurt. By the time she calmed down, Jade, Ivy, and that troublesome little girl had already left her hospital room. Her eyes reddened with rage: "Damn woman!"
Meanwhile, on the other side of the world.
"Leon? How come you’re..."
"How come I’m here, right?"
Leon Keane looked at his astonished father, his lips curling slightly cold. The elder Kane was dressed casually, already in his sixties, but his face was well-maintained, youthful like a man in his forties without any signs of aging.
The scent of plum blossoms wafted through the air, and as Leon looked up, he noticed that there was a garden behind his father, full of vibrant plum trees and spring and summer flowers not normally in bloom during this season, nurtured in a green house.
Even after leaving the Kane family, he’s living quite comfortably!
"This is not a place you should be. Go back."
The elder Kane frowned, figuring that Derrick Stern had tipped off Leon. That kid, really acting as Leon’s lackey, never showed any respect for the old President Kane.
Leon walked straight ahead: "I have some questions to ask you, Father. After you tell me everything, I’ll leave right away."
The elder Kane, seeing Leon trying to enter the house, became nervous and quickly stepped forward to block him: "Son, let’s find a café. Whatever you want to know, I’ll tell you."
Leon noted his father’s expression, speaking calmly: "I don’t want to go to a café, let’s talk here at your place."
The elder Kane couldn’t dare let Leon inside.
Leon had once said over the phone that if he discovered his father had a woman hidden away, he’d show no mercy.
The elder Kane indeed had a woman hidden inside, fearing Leon’s reaction if he found out.
"No."
Without hesitation, the elder Kane refused: "Anywhere but here."
"What if I insist on going in?" The elder Kane’s behavior made it clear to Leon that there was indeed someone inside.
"I won’t allow you in. You can go back home." The elder Kane’s face turned cold, his stance firm, just as resolute as when he left the Kane family before.
Seeing this, Leon coldly smiled, recalling unpleasant memories from before.
"Do you think you can stop me like this now?"
"Ungrateful boy, are you intending to raise your hand against me?" The elder Kane fumed.
He’s old now, and if Leon forced his way in, he indeed wouldn’t be able to stop Leon. This only fueled his anger further—anger at his son’s aggressiveness and at his own weakening state.
"I didn’t come today to argue with you, nor am I interested in arguing." Leon stated, "If Father insists on being stubborn as before, don’t blame me. After all, we’ve spent so little time together, there’s barely any bond even between father and son."
Since the day he could remember, he’d only seen his father a handful of times. His childhood was without a father; while other children were picked up by their fathers after school, only the Kane family driver came for him. The word "father" was foreign to him because the man before him was always absent.
"You bastard."
The elder Kane lifted his hand, intending to slap Leon hard.
But midway, Leon caught his wrist, his handsome face turning icy: "Yes, I am a bastard because I have a bastard’s blood. Father, in his youth, was quite the bastard, and naturally, the son turned out to be one too."
Leon was filled with disgust for his father, who had been womanizing and irresponsible during his youth, leading Leon to be taken away by his mother, leaving him unaware of his biological mother’s whereabouts even now.
If the old man before him wasn’t his biological father, Leon would have knocked him out with a punch.
The elder Kane was dumbfounded, not expecting Leon to utter such words, cursing him outright.
The elder Kane’s face turned green with anger: "Get out, I don’t want a son like you."
"Of course, you’d prefer not to have a son like me."
Leon flung his father’s hand aside and turned towards the house. He seemed to hear a woman singing, a nursery rhyme, as if to a child.
Leon’s handsome face grew darker; his father was truly something, having a child abroad even in his sixties.
Leon couldn’t help but find it absurd. Ian and Timmy were already six years old; his father’s child couldn’t be much older, probably even younger.
"Leon, stop! You can’t go in."
The elder Kane called out urgently, trying to keep his voice low so the woman inside wouldn’t hear. He was clenching his teeth, desperately wishing he could kick Leon back.
Leon swiftly moved forward, giving the elder Kane no chance to block him, entering the house. Sure enough, he saw a woman holding a child, but that child...
