CHAPTER 40: CHAPTER 39: VISITOR UNDER THE NIGHT SKY

The passenger airship to Contan Helm had yet to arrive, so Li Ang and Zoe went to rest first.

Late at night, the young girl was fast asleep, snoring with an old quilt, her sleeping posture was terrible, and her feet were almost kicking Li Ang’s face.

Li Ang was already exhausted; not sleeping was impossible. However, he adjusted the spirituality of his body’s rest mechanism, keeping himself in a semi-conscious state, always vigilant, and even able to think.

Five days ago, he was also thinking late at night and realized Zoe’s identity.

Today, during this day, she fulfilled her destiny underground, but this wasn’t the end.

Li Ang had previously thought about it: Satus Island is isolated from the world, and, unlike him, she doesn’t have a Beacon of Passage, so how did she leave in her main storyline?

Those warships and that wolf...

Just as he thought about this, Li Ang heard a strong rumble, it was the sound of the magical powered power furnace of a flying ship nearby.

He opened his eyes, fully awake.

He quietly got up and came to the window, where he saw a magical warship floating above Satus Island’s sky.

Adjusting the angle, he saw the bow of another ship, indicating they had surrounded Satus Island.

Not far in the woods, a cluster of blue light shone.

The light spiraled like a thin veil flowing and converged among the woods, and a woman walked out.

She had a voluptuous figure, swaying with a certain charm as she walked, yet somewhat peculiar. Li Ang carefully observed and realized it was due to her steps, both feet landing on a straight line as an innate habit rather than a deliberate action.

As she got closer, Li Ang could make out her well-defined yet slightly stern features, which under the support of thick long eyelashes and willow-leaf eyebrows, revealed a touch of gentleness, making her a mature beauty of a completely different type from Zoe.

She wore a dark blue long robe, and her curly hair draped to the waist with prominent beast ears on her head, also in dark blue, fading to ice-blue at the tips.

Is she of the Beast-Earkin?

The Beast-Earkin is one of the many intelligent races in Nebis, originally named Taiyier Race, but among races, they preferred to name each other based on physical traits.

This race is characterized by a pair of beast ears and a slender physique, with some branches having tails.

They are more agile than other races and can trigger a state of enhanced physical prowess, increasing both strength and speed temporarily.

In this state, their blood flows rapidly, body temperature spikes, and for ease of cooling, their attire is very scanty, especially the back, which is almost entirely open.

But the woman approaching from the woods was wrapped in a long robe, and she didn’t appear thin. Fruits between her arms seemed to tremble gently as she walked.

She seemed to have a purpose from the start, heading straight to Zoe’s house, crossing the front yard, and knocking on the door.

"Phew—"

Zoe turned over in her sleep, completely unaware.

Li Ang pinched her face to wake her up, told her to put on her gear and hide around the corner, and he went to the front room.

"Who is it?"

He gathered his magic power and asked through the door.

The woman outside took a moment to phrase her words and replied in a low voice, "Hello, I mean no harm."

"The cry of the newborn Star Soul resonated across the sky, then quickly subsided, its power disappeared into the void, leaving one possibility—after millennia, we’ve finally awaited the opportunity."

The woman said outside the door, "On this island, the Light of the Star Soul is omnipresent, and eventually converges inside the house. You should know what I’m talking about."

Through the door, her spirit had already sensed inside, but Li Ang felt no hostility.

Li Ang drew a curse rune for spiritual isolation near Zoe’s forehead, then slowly opened the door, facing the "Beast-Earkin" woman.

Her unusual amber vertical pupils gazed past the door frame at Zoe. She smiled at the young girl and bowed, startles Zoe into retreating in fear.

She then looked at Li Ang, who hadn’t relaxed his magic guiding, gazing mostly at him.

"No wonder, it’s you. With your involvement, no wonder the reaction from the Earth Star Soul fades. Who exactly are you..."

The woman mused for a few seconds and said, "Pardon me, I should introduce myself first. You may call me ’Eden.’"

Li Ang nodded slightly. He knew her name just now and had even more information.

[Combat Power Amplification: 13%]

The woman before him was another Star Soul.

Turning into human form is likely something only they, who have mastered mysterious powers, can achieve. Her combat power amplification was less than that of the Earth Serpent, and even less than Zoe’s, unsure if it’s due to the human form lacking the powerful physique of the demon form, or related to "exhaustion."

"I won’t hand her over to you." Li Ang protected Zoe instinctively weighing both sides’ power and ways to respond.

Though her arrival with a weaker human form probably meant she had no intent to fight.

Eden’s gaze shifted back and forth between the two and said, "Please don’t worry; in my heart, there’s only gratitude."

She looked at Zoe and said, "I felt the opportunity appearing at the easternmost of Flos Sky Realm, and my greatest worry was the newborn Star Soul near her, likely only relying on instinct to plunder, devouring her strength, which means our wait would yet again extend for millennia.

Eden bowed again, "Thank you for your protection, not only that she remained unharmed but has already resonated with the Earth Star Soul."

"So immense..." Zoe whispered in awe from behind.

What’s this kid focusing on now!

Li Ang glared at her in annoyance, seeing her stick her tongue out.

When Eden bent over, those ample fruits seemed to hang without any support, a situation rarely seen outside the Horned Race but—

"We’re discussing your matters, be serious!"

"But, I don’t feel this sister has any malice, right?"

For her final question, Zoe was directed towards Eden, and Li Ang saw the divine light in her eyes, seeming to stem from an instinctive judgment.

Eden witnessed the runic glow in her eyes and an expressionally cold countenance softened with a smile of solace.

"May I know your names?" she asked, apparently respecting Zoe greatly.

"He’s Li Ang, and I’m Zoe."

"Greetings to Divine Child Zoe."

Zoe hid half her body behind Li Ang, even though she perceived no malice from the other, she was still shy, and the manner of address was new to her with no idea how to respond.

Eden straightforwardly stated her purpose, "I’ve come here to escort the Divine Child to the Star Palace."

"What’s that place?" Li Ang queried.

Eden contemplated for a few seconds, "Not long ago, I battled wicked beings above the island in my original form, which you must have witnessed. Mortals view us as demons; in that context, you may understand the Star Palace as our nest."

"With what you’ve said, it sounds even less credible."

"I won’t deceive the Divine Child or those around her. Referring to it as a nest is meant for ease of understanding, merely akin to mortal architecture but bathed in the Light of the Star Soul. There, I will assist the Divine Child in mastering her true power."

"Perhaps she doesn’t need to? We’ve already subdued a Star Soul."

Eden slightly lifted her lowered head, "The Divine Child resonating with the Earth Star Soul owes much to your help. I presume, with your aid, she received information from the Chamber of Nurturing to achieve this. However, with the years gone by endless ocean lost, likely much of the Chamber of Nurturing information has become incomplete."

The woman’s amber eyes locked onto Zoe, "Lingering risks remain on the Divine Child."
