Find a Troubled Girl after leaving the Guild
Chapter 47 - 46: Order Flame Corps
CHAPTER 47: CHAPTER 46: ORDER FLAME CORPS
This is troublesome.
Li Ang originally thought that meeting someone from the Order Sky Knight Corps here would make things easier, but instead, it turned out to be a headache.
"Lanslow, why are you here?"
"It’s my turn to patrol the airways. Our corps is stationed in the Ignis Sky Realm."
The cheerful young man in front of him had brown hair and green eyes, wearing silver-white armor, with a cloak like flames behind him.
He was a member of the elite guard of the Order Sky Knight Corps, and coincidentally, Li Ang knew him.
To be exact, he knew quite a few people from their sub-corps.
The Order Sky Knight Corps is a large organization, with an elite guard whose combat power is comparable to the Celestial Group, divided into several sub-corps stationed in different aerial realms.
The sub-corps of the Ignis Sky Realm is called the Order Flame Corps, consisting of twenty members. Li Ang had collaborated with them before, and since then, their leader, whom the members referred to as Miss, had been contemplating on pulling Li Ang into their group.
The Lanslow in front of him could barely be considered a friend since he was someone who got along well with Li Ang during past collaborations.
Usually, it was impossible to meet anyone from the elite guard when handling affairs in the Hall of Order, yet unexpectedly, he ran into some in the sky.
Lanslow’s hand tightly clasped Li Ang’s shoulder, and the metal of his hand guard pressed painfully against him.
Lanslow beamed: "Heard you left The Soul Apex, finally giving our Miss a chance. She rushed straight to the Holy City but couldn’t find you anywhere. When she came back, she gave us quite an earful."
"I already have a group."
"What? Which group got you so fast?"
Lanslow shook his head, hands on his hips: "Good support is always in demand. The leader of The Soul Apex has been playing politics for too long, there are many people waiting to see their joke."
Good support? Li Ang had spent so long with people from The Soul Apex that he sometimes had the illusion that everyone thought support was just about tanking damage and healing.
Like many games on Earth, in team battles on Nebis, support is divided into control type, defense type, and enhancement type. These three are foundational and can combine with healing, control, damage, and debuff effects to make an excellent support.
And Li Ang? He could do a bit of everything, although doing so might cost a bit more.
For him to be effective, he sometimes needed to consume high-tier casting materials, but the advantage was that he could manage it all, so there was no need to expend energy finding other types of support or doing specialized training. Overall, it was a gain.
But maybe because he managed everything, some people couldn’t wrap their heads around it.
His techniques primarily enhanced allies, controlled the battlefield, and supplemented battle deficiencies. Yet some still felt his attack power was inferior to magic cannons or close-range daggers, his healing less effective than a sole healing priest, and his control weaker than a low-damage disruptive mage.
This is like in some online games where a five-person team tackles difficult content; high healing can compensate for lower damage output, reducing the difficulty. However, some might kick the healer for not contributing enough to the damage output. Once this debate starts, it is endless.
So once Li Ang freed himself, he decided to jump out of this game completely and start his own group, eliminating such issues.
"Since that collaboration, Miss has been cursing—no, expecting—uh, that’s not right either. In short, she believed you were destined not to get along with Rams. She’s wilful, but her judgment is sound."
"In the Ignis Sky Realm, do you all know the Holy City’s gossip?"
Li Ang calculated, it had only been six days, and his exit from the group was already widely known?
"Not really, high-ranking Sky Knights had been talking about it. Originally a group that was just slightly lacking in all aspects, not only squeezed into the top four, but also leapfrogged to the first place. It wasn’t entirely due to you all being able to dismantle the Dark Night Ancient City’s tricky rune mechanism, right? Oh right, now I can’t say ’you all’ anymore.
"Back then, many said to break through the Dark Night Ancient City, a witch of Excellence Realm was needed, but across the entire sky, there weren’t many witches of that level. People thought The Soul Apex had one of that caliber, but the team was still lacking. Surprisingly, they managed to push through. Afterward, the hero wasn’t there. Throwing away their biggest advantage, people are waiting to see how far The Soul Apex drops now, watching for their joke."
In many of Nebis’s lost civilization ruins, there are complex mechanisms and traps that require different ways to dismantle. The most troublesome are those that need spiritual manipulation to resolve.
Some teams tried cultivating dedicated witches, but facing high-tier mechanisms, almost no one practices witchcraft over tier 7, making their cultivation efforts go unused.
"Kicking people is a vote, anyway I got voted out, so I’m the deserving one?"
Li Ang shrugged with a sarcastic tone.
"A new journey begins, isn’t that what starting a new group’s about?"
Lanslow pointed at him: "So you’re going to lead your own group, okay, I support you, your previous tactics impressed me. Just be aware of Miss’s pursuit, she’s been craving—uh, longing for your technique to activate all-body spirituality for too long."
"As long as you’re not dragging me away now, I’m very grateful."
Lanslow added, "If you happen to get caught by Miss, don’t mention I saw you."
The leader of this Order Flame Corps had a high affinity with Li Ang’s witchcraft—spiritual activation, gaining multiple benefits upon infusion. Due to her physique, the cost is also minimal. Therefore, she ordered her members to "persuade" him to join when they saw him.
Considering her personality, if Li Ang truly joined the Flame Corps, she might squeeze him daily, having him infuse her with this amplification spell.
Thus, Li Ang was afraid that Lanslow would take him to the Flame Corps’ base. Escaping with force would be troublesome, but since it didn’t seem like he intended to, Li Ang relaxed a lot.
The young man glanced again at the two breathtakingly beautiful women behind Li Ang. Actually, he had sneaked a few peeks earlier.
Zoe and Eden, regardless of appearance, one petite and the other voluptuous, created a stark contrast that visually impacted and couldn’t be ignored.
Seeing a stranger’s gaze, Zoe instinctively hid behind Li Ang.
"These two...they’re not your family, are they? Or are they group members you picked?"
Li Ang was noncommittal.
"You rascal!"
The young man on the opposite side seemed somewhat emotional: "Is your group legitimate? Are your intentions pure? After you left your group, are you gathering beauties and coercing them to build an Order Sky Knight Corps harem...? I am capable of arresting people, you know?"
"My intentions are absolutely pure."
"Sigh, just a joke."
Lanslow chuckled lightly, turned around, and pointed at the air route entrance ahead: "Even if I wanted to catch you now, it’s too late..."
Zoe whispered, "Don’t catch me."
"Hmm?" Lanslow turned back.
"Why are you scared when you haven’t done anything?" Li Ang flicked the little wild cat’s forehead a couple of times.
Zoe covered her forehead, her eyes darting around. Li Ang felt she might be plotting something, thinking about her habit of leaving villagers helpless and snatching things from the village kids. He sensed an upcoming headache.
Lanslow laughed, "Why would I catch you? If anything, it’s your group leader I’d catch."
Zoe quickly hugged Li Ang tightly, "Don’t catch Li Ang either, if you must, then take me."
The young man stared at Li Ang: "Now I’m really a bit suspicious of you."
Lanslow laughed again, asking, "Looks like the new team vibe is fine. Where did you pick this little protégé from?"
"Trade secret."
"Oh, I see, just making conversation," he sighed, "Anyway, you can’t get into the Ignis Sky Realm right now."
"I saw you facing off with them, who are those people?"
"They call themselves the Spar Empire. Hold on, your ship..."
Lanslow tiptoed to look at the boat behind carrying soldiers.
"I thought you took a mission to eradicate bandits when you filled the ship with people, are you in conflict with this faction too?"
"I just want to take them to the nearest Hall of Order."
Lanslow wore an amused expression: "You won’t believe it; those guys claim that the Ignis Sky Realm is their territory and now refuse entry to anyone else."
"Isn’t this the time for the Order Sky Knight Corps to step in?" Li Ang asked.
