Fire Chief vs. Surgeon: A Tale of Relentless Pursuit
Chapter 568: Immediate Surgery
CHAPTER 568: CHAPTER 568: IMMEDIATE SURGERY
Lu Jing finally understood; the Nurse Director didn’t take it seriously at all, and it wasn’t Xiao Tang who was the issue—they knew someone intentionally caused trouble.
It was that person they’d certainly be after!
"Did Xiao Tang look for you?"
Indeed, he couldn’t deny that.
"Not exactly, after coming back from the airport, I found the girl sitting on the curb, crying."
The Nurse Director was surprised to hear this:
"Ah?"
Lu Jing nodded:
"Really."
The Nurse Director sighed:
"Okay, I’ll go see her after work today."
That girl was probably overthinking all sorts of things—what if she did something foolish...
Thus, it’d be very effective if the concerned Nurse Director visited her.
They chatted for a short while longer and then went about their respective tasks.
Ever since he had sat down in his office, there hadn’t been a moment of rest, with a continuous stream of patients coming in for consultation.
Especially since the other doctor on duty was in the operating room, Lu Jing was the only one in the office, and all the emergency patients had to look for him.
His throat started to feel a bit hoarse, sore.
"Cough, next, please."
"Doctor!"
A middle-aged woman, looking both anxious and worried, carried a little girl into the room.
Suppressing the discomfort in his throat, Lu Jing asked:
"What happened?"
"My daughter fell, and now she can’t lift her arm."
Lu Jing got up:
"Let me have a look."
Upon examination, he was shocked.
It wasn’t just a simple dislocation—just a gentle squeeze was enough to tell that it was a comminuted fracture.
Besides, the young girl’s head drooped continuously; he feared something else was amiss.
The middle-aged woman had said that a fall caused this.
"Sister, please hold her steady, lift her up; I need to examine her."
"Okay, okay."
The young girl’s mother helped her up; the girl’s eyes remained tightly shut.
Lu Jing gently lifted the girl’s eyelids and could see clearly, even without a flashlight—that her pupils had started to dilate.
Hisss~
He immediately grabbed the office phone and dialed quickly:
"Neurosurgery? This is orthopedics. A child has fallen, possibly injured her brain. Her pupils have already dilated. Please come over quickly."
After hanging up the phone, Lu Jing helped the middle-aged woman place the child on a nearby bed:
"Quick, put her on the bed."
The middle-aged woman was confused, just doing whatever Lu Jing said.
As soon as the young girl was on the bed, Lu Jing began to administer emergency aid.
The commotion had alerted the Nurse Director, who ran over:
"What’s going on, what’s going on?"
Seeing Lu Jing in the midst of a rescue, she didn’t need to ask any more questions and turned to fetch emergency equipment—medical instruments, medications, and so on.
In a few minutes, the neurosurgeon arrived, his white coat all in disarray from running so fast.
"What’s the situation?"
Lu Jing glanced over without stopping his actions and said:
"Suspected concussion or intracranial injury."
Hisss~
Hearing this, the neurosurgeon frowned, quickly stepped forward, lifted the girl’s eyelids to check them, and then started feeling the girl’s head.
"We need to do surgery immediately. Where’s the family?"
The middle-aged woman seemed to just have snapped back to reality:
"Here, I’m here, doctor. My daughter, she..."
"Surgery, immediately. Delaying could lead to serious problems!"
Hearing this, a nearby nurse had already gone to contact the operating room.
The family might be confused at this moment, but the medical staff couldn’t afford to be even slightly bewildered.
