Fire Chief vs. Surgeon: A Tale of Relentless Pursuit
Chapter 572 How to Tolerate Morning Anger
CHAPTER 572: CHAPTER 572 HOW TO TOLERATE MORNING ANGER
After getting out of the car, everyone was taken away for separate questioning.
It was all standard procedure, so everyone was quite calm.
Lu Jing was currently following a female officer upstairs to the interrogation room. As they passed the office, she didn’t pay much attention to the inside.
Yet someone inside, with sharp eyes, recognized Lu Jing and seemed very surprised, hurrying to his feet:
"Xiao Lian, hold on a moment."
The female officer stopped:
"Brother Zhu?"
The male officer had clearly just woken up, with the marks of documents still imprinted on his face from lying on the desk.
He glanced at Lu Jing and asked:
"From Captain Jiang’s family?"
Hmm???
Lu Jing looked up, and after hesitating for about two seconds, nodded:
"Does Officer Zhu know my husband?"
The male officer laughed:
"More than just know him, yeah. By the way, what are you doing here so late?"
Since they were all familiar, the female officer wasn’t so strict anymore and took the initiative to start explaining.
Officer Zhu had just been out on a call and had only just returned, so he was totally unaware of the situation at the hospital.
Upon hearing the details, he frowned:
"Is that so?"
The female officer hmm’d:
"Then I’ll take this comrade to the reception room."
The male officer nodded right away:
"Alright, you go ahead; I’ll give Captain Jiang a call."
Upon hearing this, Lu Jing felt like stopping him, but the words came to her lips and were swallowed back down.
To say she wasn’t feeling aggrieved at that moment would definitely be a lie.
When feeling wronged, how could one not want to see the person they were longing for?
....
She was supposed to go to the interrogation room, but ended up in the reception room.
The treatment had definitely improved quite a bit, there was not just boiled water but also coffee.
"Don’t be nervous, Doctor Lu. Have some coffee; we can take our time," the female officer said.
There was plenty of time since they were being questioned individually, with no one to disturb them, so they could afford to be more leisurely.
Lu Jing did relax a little and even took a couple of sips of coffee.
"I’m fine, Officer Xiao Lian can start whenever she’s ready."
"Alright then, I’ll begin."
"Okay."
....
Time ticked by second by second, and because it was quite relaxed and comfortable, it wasn’t too hard to endure.
While the questioning was still ongoing, the door to the reception room opened from the outside.
"Xiao Lian, are you finished?"
And the man standing behind Officer Zhu, if not Jiang Ye, then who else could it be?
The man was only wearing a base shirt with a coat draped over it, his nose even a bit red from the cold, but he seemed utterly unaware of it, his gaze firmly fixed on the person inside.
If not for his extreme effort to control the impulse, he would have probably kicked the door down to enter.
Xiao Lian closed the case file:
"Yes, we’re about done here, come on in."
The male officer patted Jiang Ye on the back:
"Captain Jiang?"
Jiang Ye came to his senses and stepped inside.
Then, he immediately went behind Lu Jing, bent down, and asked softly in her ear:
"Are you alright? Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?"
Jiang Ye was not entirely clear on what had specifically happened; he had only heard snippets over the phone from Officer Zhu. He knew only the gist of it, so he was concerned whether his wife had been hurt.
Lu Jing shook her head:
"I’m fine."
Then she pushed the cup of boiled water she had not drunk, which was beside her hand, into his hands:
"Have some."
This man must have been woken up from his sleep, she thought, wondering how he could have suppressed the temptation to fall back into slumber.
Seeing his wife offer him water to drink, Jiang Ye finally relaxed completely, convinced she was okay.
As long as she was unharmed, everything else could be dealt with later.
