First Demonic Dragon
Chapter 847 Shoe Drop
Everyone in the room had one, single thought after Seras finally articulated her reasoning for calling them all here.
''Christ..''
Heads swiveled in Kanami''s direction.
The red dragoness marched to the beat of her own drum. She didn''t usually do well when it came to sitting still.
And orders designed to force her to sit still were usually met with a string of resistance ranging from crude language to the hurling of objects.
Perhaps this was the reason why she and Abaddon fought as much as they loved each other.
They were just far too much alike for their own good.
"...How long does he expect us to stay here?"
"This is your home, Kanami. You don''t have to act as if it is some foreign prison." Imani seemed hurt.
"T-That''s not what I meant, mother, I just..." Kanami faltered.
''Don''t want to be protected..'' She thought.
The sheltered lifestyle had never fit Kanami. The idea of sitting at home while her brother put himself at constant risk for her was a headache in and of itself.
Besides, she knew her own strength. Her number of betters within the multiverse was so few that she could count them on one hand.
She was a warrior. An asset. Not a liability.
"I know your feelings on this matter, Kanami, but please, just heed the words of your brother for now. You''ve been away from home long enough already, so please just let someone else dirty their blade for once, yea?"
Kanami had always been partial to Bekka. She was like the cooler, older sister that she didn''t have. (Malenia was a bookworm.)
So even though this pill was still a hard one to swallow, it felt just a tiny bit easier because Bekka was the one to give it to her.
"I.. I can do that." Kanami acquiesced. "I was planning to stay home for a few months after our last expedition anyway."
"A few years." Hakon chimed from her side.
He put his hand around her waist possessively and placed his hand over her belly-button.
Unlike the rest of her family who had no problem with PDA, Kanami got easily flustered when Hakon chose to initiate it. Her husband was usually much more stoic and passive, usually letting her do whatever she wanted without issue.
But she was bad at being equally receptive to his advances. As evidenced by her ears that were slowly turning a color indistinguishable from her hair.
"I-I don''t think I can swing staying home for years, H-Hakon-"
"Yes you can!"
Tatiana crawled from out of the back and positioned herself in Seras and Bekka''s laps.
"We''ve been getting a whole lot of complaints about the Bright Legions not having enough to do, so we wanted to start sending out certain brigades on missions that would usually only be designated for Euphrates."
""Uwah!?"" Monica and Kananmi could have cried.
"Not because we''re dissatisfied with your work or anything." Tatiana cooed. "But the other Legions need some form of combat experience other than the quarterly retreats they''ve been going on."
Kanami sighed as he unknowingly sank back into her husband''s grip. "Not fair... Why do we have to share the glory with those scrubs..?"
The aforementioned ''scrubs'' in the room took immediate offense.
Asmodeus: "Excuse me? Who do you think made you? And you have the gall to call your old daddy a scrub??"
Absalom: "Brother, say something. Your bride besmirches the honor of the Gray Legion."
Just like Darius, Karliah liked easy sexual gratification that she didn''t have to work hard for.
"Easy lass, let me get a couple shots in first and then we''ll figure something out." He whispered back.
The two exchanged a tight-knit fist bump that nearly made Asmodeus'' ancient blood boil.
He snatched the business card from his mother and it soon went up in flame.
But Darius was true to this hoeing lifestyle, not new to it. The business card was enchanted so that a brand new one just reappeared within Igrat''s hand.
This wasn''t the first time he''d coveted a woman who he wasn''t supposed to have. Though it was usually their husbands who were torching the business cards instead of their children...
"If you''re all done with... whatever that was." Shin shivered. "What are we going to do about the planetary anomaly? It still needs to be dealt with, one way or another."
The wives rubbed their chins thoughtfully all at once, just as if they were already melded into Ayaana.
It was true that they had to go back. If the universes were left to merge fully, then they would in turn start trying to combine into more universes, and it would only be harder to stop.
"Don''t worry, Shin. We''re not going to leave you to do all of the hard work by yourself." Lailah promised.
"It''s not that we couldn''t..."
"Yes, yes." Audrina waived her hand dismissively. "But for the time being... we''d like it if you would allow your children to stay here."
"Hell no, next question."
""Dad!"" AJ and Kayla punched Shin in his robotic ribs.
"What?!"
"At least hear her out."
"You''re being rude."
Shin was wondering why even though he was the parent, he often felt like he had such little control over his own life.
"...You were saying?" Stay tuned for updates on My Virtual Library Empire
Audrina smiled venomously. "Our Courtney is very fond of your son and daughter. Since we''ll be keeping her home for her safety, we were hoping that you might allow your children to stay here with her. They''ll be perfectly safe."
Shin snorted. "I don''t know about that. These two can''t just miss that much school. And besides, this place could very well be the most dangerous spot for them. Since Chaos is-"
"Chaos will not trouble our home any longer, and our husband will make sure of that. But our worry is that since the one who killed Lucifer seems to have awareness of our family, he may begin to target those who we are close to as well. It''s why we want everyone here."
Shin still seemed unconvinced. "So what if I get kidnapped? You gonna free me too?"
"If theres enough of you left to free-"
Eris elbowed her wife discreetly. "She means yes. You are connected to someone that our daughter cares about very much."
"Y-You didn''t have to say all that, mom.." Courtney tucked her head between her knees in shame.
She could feel AJ staring at her and it literally made her feel like she could die.
On a more adult note, Shin still wasn''t sold completely.
Sure, there was probably nowhere safer for his kids to lay their heads than the home of the most powerful dragons in creation, but they were also at the center of this terrible conflict to begin with.
How was he supposed to know that they would actually be safe here?
He opened his metallic jaw as if he were about to ask another question, but before he could Asherah stood up dramatically- her face aghast.
"Y-You need to go... Now!"
