CHAPTER 353: HE WANTED TO KILL YOU
Isiah left the room in silence, his departure leaving a palpable tension in the air.
Lexie watched him go, her heart heavy with unanswered questions and unresolved emotions.
She turned to Eijar, offering a weak smile, but her mind was still consumed by thoughts of Isiah and the tumultuous events of the night.
However, Eijar’s tone was stern as she uttered, "Do you realize what you’ve done, Lexie?"
Lexie’s gaze faltered under Eijar’s scrutiny, and she swallowed hard before responding, "I... I don’t know what you mean."
Eijar’s words hung in the air, her tone heavy with concern as she recounted her observations.
"Isiah... he was acting unlike himself, almost like a man possessed," she began, her voice tinged with unease. "I’ve witnessed him endure some truly dire situations, but this... this was different. He kept muttering about hearing your voice, even though you weren’t present. It consumed him to the point where he believed he was losing his sanity."
Lexie’s brow furrowed in confusion as she absorbed Eijar’s account. "I did call out to Isiah," she admitted, her voice tinged with bewilderment. "But how could he have possibly heard me? I was alone, lost in the darkness of the underground of Triavert."
Eijar’s tone carried a sense of urgency ..
"And... you should know," she began, her voice tinged with a mixture of disbelief and concern, "that when you were on the verge of dying... something consumed him whole."
Lexie’s eyes widened in astonishment as she processed Eijar’s words.
"He went to Triavert," Eijar continued, her voice wavering slightly, "to look, to see... and he knew what happened to you there."
Lexie’s mind raced with questions as she struggled to comprehend the gravity of Eijar’s disclosure.
"He knew?" she repeated, her voice barely a whisper. "But how?"
The realization dawned on her, a chilling realization that sent shivers down her spine.
"He heard me?!" she murmured, a sense of disbelief coloring her words. "He heard my voice when I called out for help."
Eijar nodded solemnly, confirming Lexie’s suspicions. "Yes," she affirmed, her expression grave. "He heard your voice, echoing in his mind, driving him to seek answers."
Lexie’s thoughts whirled as she grappled with the implications of Isiah’s unsettling connection to her plight.
"But why?" she wondered aloud, her voice trembling with uncertainty.
Eijar hesitated, her gaze clouded with unease. "I’m not sure," she admitted, her words weighted with concern. "But whatever drove him to that place, it consumed him entirely."
Lexie’s heart sank as she contemplated the depth of Isiah’s involvement in her ordeal.
"He went to Triavert," she murmured, her voice barely audible, "and... he knew what happened to me there."
"And then..." Eijar’s voice faltered, her expression pained. "He took matters into his own hands."
Dread crept over Lexie as she realized the full extent of Isiah’s actions. "He killed them," Eijar whispered, the words heavy with disbelief. "He killed all of those people"
Lexie’s eyes widened in disbelief as she processed Eijar’s words. "For me?" she questioned, her voice trembling with a mixture of shock and horror.
Eijar shook her head solemnly, her expression grim. "No," she clarified, her tone heavy with sorrow.
"He... no, he killed them all, assuming that you were with them. He did it to silence your voice, to stop the torment haunting his mind."
The gravity of Eijar’s revelation weighed heavily on Lexie as she struggled to comprehend the extent of Isiah’s actions.
"He thought..." Lexie began, her voice faltering as she grappled with the chilling realization, "he thought that by eliminating them, he could silence the echoes of my voice...so, he wanted to kill me originally." A shiver ran down her spine as she contemplated the depth of Isiah’s desperation.
Eijar nodded, her expression mirroring Lexie’s turmoil. "Yes," she confirmed, her voice soft yet resolute. "But the voice didn’t stop." The words hung in the air, a stark reminder of the relentless torment that plagued Isiah’s mind.
"And then..." Lexie prompted, her voice barely a whisper.
Eijar’s gaze faltered, her eyes clouded with sorrow. "And then he returned to Qusda," she continued, her voice heavy, "only to find you almost dead in this place."
A chill settled over Lexie as she absorbed the gravity of Eijar’s revelation, the pieces of the puzzle slowly falling into place.
"Then..." Lexie pressed, her voice trembling with dread.
Eijar hesitated, her words weighed down by the burden of truth. "Then he..." she began, her voice trailing off as she struggled to find the right words. "He..."
Eijar took a deep breath, gathering herself to recount the harrowing moments that led to Lexie’s rescue.
"He found you mere seconds before your heart stopped," she began, her voice tinged with urgency.
"Isiah stumbled upon you in that abandoned place, your life hanging by a thread."
Lexie listened intently, her heart pounding with each word. "He didn’t hesitate," Eijar continued, her tone tinged with admiration. "Isiah sprang into action, brought you from death."
A sense of awe washed over Lexie as she envisioned Isiah’s frantic efforts to revive her.
"He brought you back from the brink," Eijar affirmed, her voice filled with reverence. "And then... he carried you all the way to Astrid, seeking her aid to heal your wounds."
"He saved my life...after wanting to kill me so bad ...I don’t understand why he did that ," she whispered.
Eijar nodded solemnly, her eyes reflecting the gravity of the situation. "Yes he did...even I was too confused ," she agreed, her voice soft yet resolute. "Isiah acted out of himself this past two weeks ."
Lexie’s heart swelled with emotion as she processed Eijar’s words. "I owe ...Eijar ...I don’t blame him for wanting to kill me ...I understand that ...what is just ...confusing is that he ...saved me "
Eijar offered a supportive smile, her gaze full of understanding. "Well, I guess that something inside of him changed after seeing you in that state, I mean, Who wouldn’t feel empathy for you with all of these injuries in your body "
But Lexie looked at her palms in her lap then said :"So ...do you think it is empathy ?"
