CHAPTER 354: CONNECTION BETWEEN YOU TWO

Lexie’s question lingered in the air, hanging between them like a heavy fog. Eijar’s expression softened as she considered the depth of Lexie’s inquiry.

"I believe it’s more than just empathy," Eijar replied, her voice gentle yet firm. "What Isiah did... it goes beyond mere sympathy for your suffering. The man has no empathy for any human except for Ciel ...he killed all of those people mercilessly ...even when he thought you were there with them ...so ...I guess it is not empathy Lexie ....but I do think ...There’s a connection between you two that transcends understanding."

Lexie furrowed her brow, her thoughts swirling with uncertainty. "A connection?" she echoed, her voice tinged with curiosity.

Eijar nodded, her gaze steady as she met Lexie’s eyes. "Yes," she affirmed, her tone confident. "He keeps hearing your voice ...even when you are away from him ."

"But why?" Lexie wondered aloud.

Eijar’s response was measured, her words chosen with care. "Perhaps there are forces at play beyond our understanding," she mused, her tone thoughtful.

"Some connections are forged in the fires of adversity, binding souls together in ways we cannot predict or control."

The weight of Eijar’s words settled over Lexie like a heavy cloak, filling her with a sense of both apprehension and wonder.

"So, what do I do now?" she asked, her voice laced with uncertainty.

Eijar offered a reassuring smile, her eyes full of warmth and understanding. "For now, you rest," she advised, her tone gentle yet firm.

"Give yourself time to heal, both physically and emotionally. The answers you seek will reveal themselves in due time."

With a nod of gratitude, Lexie sank back into the cushions, her mind awash with thoughts and emotions too complex to unravel in the quiet of the moment.

As Eijar quietly exited the room, Lexie couldn’t help but notice a subtle shift in her demeanor.

Gone was the usual harshness, replaced by a fleeting glimpse of sympathy that lingered in the air like a soft whisper.

It was as if Eijar, in her own way, understood the weight of the burdens Lexie carried and the trials she faced.

In the quiet stillness that followed, the door creaked open once more, and Lexie turned her gaze to see Ciel hesitantly stepping into the room.

A smile blossomed on her lips at the sight of the young boy, his presence a welcome ray of light in the midst of her turmoil.

"Oh, there you are," she greeted him warmly, her voice gentle and inviting. "Come here, Ciel."

Ciel’s hesitation melted away as he caught sight of Lexie’s smile. With tentative steps, he approached her, his eyes filled with a mixture of curiosity and concern.

As he drew closer, Lexie extended her hand towards him, a silent invitation for him to join her.

"Don’t be afraid," she reassured him, her voice soft and reassuring. "I’m glad you’re here."

Ciel’s apprehension gradually dissipated as he reached out to take her hand, his small fingers intertwining with hers.

A sense of comfort washed over him, dispelling the lingering doubts that had clouded his mind.

With a gentle squeeze of his hand, Lexie offered him a reassuring smile.

"You’re safe," she whispered.

Ciel’s tears flowed freely, he couldn’t contain the overwhelming surge of emotions that washed over him.

Without hesitation, he threw himself into Lexie’s embrace.

With her arms wrapped around him, Lexie held him close, offering silent support as he released his pent-up sorrow.

" But you are not " His words pierced the air like a dagger, their raw honesty echoing in the quiet room.

Lexie’s heart ached at his words, the weight of his sorrow pressing heavily upon her.

Gently stroking his golden hair.

With a tender smile, she gently wiped his tears away and said, "I may not look my best right now, but I promise you, I’m okay."

His sobs racked his small frame as he poured out his confusion. "Isiah didn’t allow me to visit you. He forbade anyone from coming near.

But then, he was the only one who stayed by your side. I don’t get it. He seemed to hate you, he distanced himself, he left you... So why? Why did he..."

As Lexie contemplated Ciel’s words, a peculiar realization dawned on her.

If Isiah had been the sole presence in this room with her for the past two weeks after the massacre, then he must have endured immense suffering.

The agony of his hunger, exacerbated by the aftermath of taking so many lives, would have tormented him relentlessly.

Yet, despite his primal instincts, he remained steadfast by her side, refraining from taking her blood until she awoke and granted him permission.

Overwhelmed by a surge of conflicting emotions, Lexie found herself in tears, grappling with the perplexing enigma of Isiah’s actions.

As tears streamed down Lexie’s cheeks, Ciel, noticing her distress.

With a sudden and panicked movement, he hastily retreated, his heart heavy with the possibility of having hurt her in some way.

Ciel, his own eyes brimming with tears. "I-I’m sorry, Lexie," he stammered, his voice choked with emotion.

"I didn’t mean to make you cry. I’m so sorry." His apology was punctuated by deep, sorrowful sobs as he struggled to articulate his remorse.

Feeling Ciel’s anguish, Lexie’s heart ached. She reached out to him, her arms enveloping him in a tender embrace.

"Shh, it’s okay," she murmured softly, her voice gentle and soothing. "Don’t cry, my sweet Ciel. You didn’t hurt me. I love you so much, and I will always be here for you."

As Astrid entered the room, Ciel’s eyes darted towards her, his voice trembling with fear as he uttered, "Is he here?"

Lexie sensed the anxiety emanating from Ciel and immediately pulled him into another comforting embrace.

She hated seeing him so anxious, especially in her presence. Holding him tightly.

"Shh, it’s okay, Ciel," Lexie murmured gently, her voice a soft reassurance. "Isiah’s not here right now. You’re safe with me."

Astrid’s voice held a firm edge as she spoke, her tone carrying authority. "Let him go, Ciel. Isiah is still present, and he won’t appreciate seeing you like this."
