CHAPTER 222: CHAPTER 222 REVISITING THE OLD PLACE (2)

"Hurry up and work. If I wake up and you’re not done yet, don’t expect me to wait for you!" Mi Wan propped herself against the doorframe with one hand, gripping the lock on the door with the other. She stuck her head out and said this with a somewhat aggressive tone, then immediately closed the door to the break room and locked it with a click!

Hmph, he shouldn’t forget whose turf this is. Even if the door is locked, he can still get in if he wants to!

Ji Dongquan raised an eyebrow and smiled as he looked away, focusing back on the documents he had not yet finished reading.

The design of the break room was very simple, still favoring Ji Dongquan’s preference for cool tones. The deep blue bed matched with the black and white decor, stylish yet exuding a masculine energy.

Mi Wan slept for a long time this time, alternately waking and sleeping, waiting for Ji Dongquan to finish his work.

She didn’t know how much time had passed when the sound of the door opening woke her up. She sat up on the bed, her sleepy eyes watching Ji Dongquan as he walked towards her. "Are you done?" she asked.

"I’m done." The remaining work could be handled by his assistant. Ji Dongquan stood by the bed, gazing at Mi Wan with gentle eyes.

"What time is it?" Mi Wan turned her head, looking outside through the window. It was so gray she couldn’t tell if it was about to rain or if it was getting dark.

"Almost six o’clock." Ji Dongquan said as he leaned down to pick up Mi Wan’s coat and handed it to her, "You really can sleep, you know? You slept for several hours."

"What? Are you starting to dislike me now?" Mi Wan took the coat and put it on, looking at Ji Dongquan with a bit of grievance.

"I wouldn’t dare." Ji Dongquan squatted down with a smile, intending to help Mi Wan put on her shoes.

Seeing this, Mi Wan felt a warmth in her heart and quickly said, "I’ll do it myself."

"Just sit still. It’s not like I haven’t done this before." Ji Dongquan said with a bit of a cocky demeanor.

Thinking about the past always made Mi Wan feel a bit melancholic, but watching Ji Dongquan’s gentle movements as he helped her with her shoes, the melancholy quickly dissipated and was replaced by a surge of emotion.

"I’ve already called Auntie; I’ll take you back later. First, let’s go to the supermarket, and then we’ll go to another place." Ji Dongquan half-squatted, holding Mi Wan’s hand, and then helped her stand up as he spoke.

"Where are we going?" Mi Wan followed Ji Dongquan’s lead, walking out while curiously asking.

"You’ll find out when we get there."

Seeing Ji Dongquan being intentionally secretive, Mi Wan tactfully didn’t press further. The two walked out of the building together, then Ji Dongquan drove Mi Wan’s car as they left.

It was a holiday, so the supermarket was crowded with shoppers. In the somewhat dense crowd, Ji Dongquan held Mi Wan with one hand and carried a shopping basket with the other. He was still extraordinarily handsome, but at this moment, he seemed more down-to-earth and exuded the charm of a good family man rather than an untouchable figure on a pedestal.

Amid some envious gazes, Mi Wan happily followed Ji Dongquan, listening to him name dishes and then carefully choosing each one, looking every bit like a virtuous wife.

Ji Dongquan felt a strange sense of time displacement, like he had experienced a similar moment before. He used to accompany Mi Wan to buy groceries, and now, watching her focus on picking vegetables, those past scenes overlapped in his mind.

Even though it had been a long time, the memories were very clear. Just like before, having her by his side made him feel at ease.

"Wanwan, I’ll make sure to go grocery shopping with you whenever I have free time in the future." After all these years, he clearly understood what he wanted. Being with Mi Wan, he found joy in even the most mundane activities, just like now.

Hearing this, Mi Wan smiled, turned to look at Ji Dongquan, and said, "You should focus on your work. With your schedule, how can you often have time to go grocery shopping with me? But the thought alone makes me happy," she said, beaming with a warm smile.

"I feel like you’re the one who doesn’t want me around now," Ji Dongquan said, wrapping his arm around Mi Wan’s shoulder.

"Lift the basket," Mi Wan commanded with a smile.

"Not only do you dislike me, but you also ignore me." Ji Dongquan pretended to wear a sad expression but still obediently handed the basket to Mi Wan.

"Alright, you’re in your thirties and still acting so childish." Mi Wan shot Ji Dongquan a glance before putting the selected vegetables into the basket.

Childish?

That word hit Ji Dongquan like a thunderbolt. He was instantly left speechless!

"Can’t you say something nice for once?" Ji Dongquan said through gritted teeth.

"I think you’re even more childish than Xuanxuan, always needing others to say nice things to coax you," Mi Wan retorted disdainfully. Sometimes, she found joy in teasing Ji Dongquan, never worrying about building her happiness on his ’suffering.’

This woman!

Ji Dongquan felt an itch in his teeth. Unconsciously, he hugged Mi Wan tighter, but in the next second, worried about hurting her, he immediately lightened his grip.

After leaving the supermarket, Ji Dongquan drove to the vicinity of T University. The place looked familiar, but had undergone enormous changes over the years. The only constant were the few golden characters that still shone brightly under the light.

"Why did you bring me here?" The old student apartments had long disappeared. In their place stood new buildings—restaurants, residential towers, and new student dormitories.

"You’ll know once we get inside."

Ji Dongquan parked the car next to the student apartments, unbuckled his seatbelt, got out, took out the groceries from the trunk, and led Mi Wan inside.

Although the place was entirely unfamiliar, Mi Wan felt a wave of nostalgia as they entered the elevator and watched the red number 3 light up.

Ding. The elevator doors opened, and as she stood there in a daze, Ji Dongquan gently pulled her out and stopped in front of door number 301.

When the door opened, Mi Wan was stunned. The familiar layout perfectly matched the scenes in her memory. Overwhelming emotions washed over her as she froze on the spot.

"Go in and take a look." Ji Dongquan led Mi Wan inside and, seeing her dazed expression, said nothing more. He simply took the groceries into the kitchen and started cooking.

Mi Wan’s eyes were a bit wet as she walked behind Ji Dongquan, hugged him from behind with both arms, and asked, "When did you buy this place?"

"Several years ago." After recovering from his injuries and returning to Jin City again after many years, he purchased this place.

Although it was no longer the same apartment, it held too many sweet memories. So Ji Dongquan recreated the previous apartment based on those memories.
