Chapter 253 Old Friend (2)
CHAPTER 253: CHAPTER 253 OLD FRIEND (2)
Yao Xinchun is a mixed-race person, with exquisite and deep facial features and eyes. Naturally, her appearance is outstanding. Moreover, she has a tall figure and is wearing a Maison dress worth millions, giving off the vibe of a superstar. The moment she walked through the hotel entrance, she attracted quite a few glances.
"What’s that woman flaunting here for?" Shen Jiajia, unable to become a model, had a surly mood that hadn’t dissipated. Seeing Yao Xinchun’s glamorous and eye-catching appearance, her pent-up frustration and jealousy surged forth. Her tone was full of bitterness and disdain.
With Shen Zixian not by their side, Shen Jiajia and Ma Huilian dropped their usual pretenses. Just as Shen Jiajia finished speaking, Ma Huilian’s gaze shifted from Yao Xinchun’s face to the blazer draped over her shoulders. The blazer looked familiar, but she couldn’t recall where she’d seen it before.
"Jiajia, does her clothing look familiar to you?" Ma Huilian asked with curiosity and suspicion.
"Clothing?"
Shen Jiajia had no desire to look at Yao Xinchun again and said coldly, "What’s so special about her clothes!"
"..."
Seeing Shen Jiajia’s attitude, Ma Huilian stopped asking and pondered for a moment, then some images flashed through her mind.
"That’s Xing’s clothing." Ma Huilian suddenly had an epiphany and remarked with slight surprise.
"That woman knows my brother?" Shen Jiajia’s previous disdain turned into curiosity and astonishment.
"They definitely know each other, and their relationship might be more than just ordinary friends." Saying this, Ma Huilian’s gaze followed Yao Xinchun’s disappearing figure at the side door, her eyes gleaming with deep contemplation as if plotting something.
Because Mi Jing had a severe cold, Xuanxuan and Cancan were taken back home by their respective mothers. Left alone at home, Mi Jing felt unwell and bored, so she made a long-distance call to Ruan Pianran, chatting away for quite a time.
True friends don’t grow apart due to time or distance. Even if they don’t contact each other often or meet infrequently, they always have endless topics to discuss.
After talking for more than an hour, Mi Jing finally ended the call when Shen Lingxing returned home.
"Why are you back so early?" Mi Jing sat up from the sofa and greeted Shen Lingxing with a beaming smile.
"Wear your shoes!" Shen Lingxing seldom wore such a stern expression, his tone carrying a hint of reproach.
"Oh." Seeing Shen Lingxing’s cold face, Mi Jing immediately halted and obediently put on her slippers as she turned around.
Satisfied, Shen Lingxing’s face quickly regained its usual calm. Dragging his weary body to the sofa, he sat down, loosened his tie, and asked Mi Jing, "Did you have dinner?"
"Yes." Mi Jing walked to Shen Lingxing’s side, leaned over to help him unfasten his tie, and asked, "How about you? Have you eaten yet?"
"Not yet." Shen Lingxing pulled Mi Jing to sit on his lap, hugging her, resting his chin on her shoulder before slowly closing his eyes.
Possibly overwhelmed with recent busyness, Shen Lingxing’s brows showed signs of fatigue. Knowing he was tired, Mi Jing held him quietly, savoring the serene moment.
After a long while, and confirming Shen Lingxing was not asleep, Mi Jing gently pushed him away and softly asked, "What are you thinking about?"
"Nothing." Shen Lingxing’s mind was in a blank state, with Mi Jing by his side, his mood always calmed instantly, leaving all chaotic thoughts behind.
"How did the anniversary event go?"
"It was okay." When it came to work, Shen Lingxing had high standards for himself and his subordinates. His faint "okay" might sound modest, but it was actually a fairly high assessment from him.
As for Shen Lingxing’s work, Mi Jing never quite understood or took much interest in it, so she quickly shifted the topic, "What do you want to eat? Noodles, fried rice, or something else?"
"Instant noodles." Shen Lingxing almost never ate such unhealthy food, but seeing Mi Jing enjoy it last time, he suddenly had the urge to try some.
"Sure, give me ten minutes."
They say eating too much instant noodles is bad for health, but indulging occasionally doesn’t do much harm. While Mi Jing might not excel in cooking, her instant noodle-making skills were superb.
In about ten minutes, Mi Jing came out of the kitchen carrying a large bowl of fragrant instant noodles. Just the smell made her hungry. Immediately, she grinned and couldn’t help but secretly praise herself.
A large bowl of instant noodles was entirely devoured by Shen Lingxing, down to the last drop of soup. Afterward, Mi Jing joyfully went to wash the dishes, and unlike his usual habit of working late in the study, Shen Lingxing went straight to bed, hugging Mi Jing and falling into deep sleep, without mentioning Yao Xinchun at all.
During the days without Shi Minjun causing trouble, Mi Wan and Ji Dongquan’s lives were particularly joyful and sweet. However, Shi Minjun was like a ticking time bomb, ready to appear and stir up chaos at any moment.
Today, Ji Dongquan had a business trip, and just as his car left the villa area, Shi Minjun showed up with He Rou, catching Mi Wan off guard.
"What? You’re not happy to see me back?" Shi Minjun, carrying a red Chanel bag, walked past Mi Wan with an air of superiority, sat down without even looking at Mi Wan, and coldly threw out her words.
"This is your home too; you can come back anytime." Mi Wan said calmly, showing neither joy nor anger. Although she still couldn’t forgive Shi Minjun, she had thought a lot recently. Since Ji Dongquan could treat Xuanxuan as his own, to avoid putting him in a difficult position, she should make an effort to avoid direct confrontation with Shi Minjun.
"My home? Haha, you must be speaking out of insincerity!" Shi Minjun snorted coldly, her gaze as sharp as a blade.
"Would you like coffee or tea?" Mi Wan pretended not to hear Shi Minjun’s sarcasm, repressed her inner depression, and asked calmly.
"Auntie likes Pu’er tea, would you please make us two cups?" He Rou, sitting beside Shi Minjun like a little follower, spoke to Mi Wan with a smirk and a tone full of spite and arrogance.
As the hostess, Mi Wan didn’t stoop to He Rou’s level, seeming to ignore her provocation as she walked calmly to the tea table, squatted down, and began to prepare tea with practiced motions.
"Madam, let me take care of it." The housekeeper came over, attempting to take over the tea-making task from Mi Wan.
"No, you go ahead with your own tasks." Mi Wan smiled at the housekeeper. Since Shi Minjun was determined to see her as an eyesore, regardless of what she did, whether well or poorly, she wouldn’t receive any acknowledgment. Thus, it was better to endure the difficulty herself rather than drag the housekeeper into it unnecessarily.
