CHAPTER 254: CHAPTER 254: WILL NOT DIVORCE (1)
Shi Minjun’s temper was something the butler had experienced before. Knowing that staying might only make her angrier, he wisely walked away.
Because Mi Zhihong liked drinking tea, under his influence and instruction, Mi Wan learned how to brew tea when she was in elementary school. Over the years, her tea-making skills grew more refined, and every move she made exuded elegance, which only irritated Shi Minjun and He Rou more.
"How long is this going to take? Brewing tea so slowly, not sure what you’re showing off!" He Rou didn’t consider herself a guest at all. Her arrogant demeanor was completely that of a spoiled heiress, treating Mi Wan like a servant.
Xuanxuan had just returned with Kabi from playing in the yard and immediately heard He Rou speaking so rudely to Mi Wan. Immediately, her heart filled with displeasure. She angrily glared at He Rou, thinking, "This woman is so annoying!"
"Miss He, if you’re lacking the patience to wait, there’s no need to waste your time here. You can leave at any time, and no one will stop you." Mi Wan leisurely raised her head and said to He Rou with a faint smile.
"You..." He Rou, accustomed to being spoiled and overbearing at home, where everyone gave in to her, couldn’t swallow this insult from Mi Wan. Just as she was about to berate Mi Wan, she remembered Shi Minjun. With Shi Minjun backing her, how could she let Mi Wan bully her?
He Rou disliked Mi Wan for no reason other than the fact that Ji Dongquan liked her and even married her. Only by making Mi Wan miserable could He Rou find a bit of solace.
"Auntie, I think I should leave now. Miss Mi doesn’t welcome me here and is even trying to drive me away." He Rou complained to Shi Minjun with a face full of grievances.
"You’re so annoying; of course we’re not welcoming you!" Before Shi Minjun could respond, Xuanxuan marched over with a furious expression, glaring at He Rou.
She had promised herself that she would protect her mother and not let her suffer any harm or grievances, so she couldn’t let this annoying woman bully her mom!
"Where are your manners? Is this how you speak to your elders?" Shi Minjun glared coldly. The thought of her outstanding son unwilling to marry a woman of equal status, and instead, willingly raising another man’s child, filled her with anger and displeasure. Hence, her gaze at Xuanxuan was even colder and sharper.
"She was rude to my mom first. Why should I be polite to her? Mr. Ji said if others are rude to us, we don’t need to be polite to them!" Xuanxuan stood straight, meeting Shi Minjun’s piercing eyes without a hint of fear and boldly retorted.
Shi Minjun already disliked Mi Wan and Xuanxuan very much. Upon hearing Xuanxuan call her son "Dad," her anger surged further, and her perpetually stern face grew even more menacing.
"Xuanxuan, go upstairs," Mi Wan intervened. She didn’t want Xuanxuan to know too much about the adults’ conflicts, and she was also worried that Shi Minjun might say something hurtful to Xuanxuan. Therefore, despite knowing Xuanxuan was worried about her and trying to protect her, she decided to send her away.
"I don’t want to go upstairs," Xuanxuan turned to look at Mi Wan and said softly.
"Be good, go upstairs and do your homework. Come down when it’s time for lunch," Mi Wan smiled gently.
..." Xuanxuan hesitated. On one hand, she was worried these two annoying women would bully Mi Wan; on the other, she didn’t want to disobey Mi Wan, making things difficult for her.
"Mom, you must not let yourself suffer," Xuanxuan whispered in Mi Wan’s ear.
"Mm," Mi Wan nodded seriously, as if making a promise to Xuanxuan.
With that, Xuanxuan ignored Shi Minjun and He Rou, gave Mi Wan a deep look, and turned to walk upstairs without another word.
Following Xuanxuan’s lead, Kabi, who had been quiet the whole time, looked at Mi Wan, then at Xuanxuan’s receding figure, pondered for a moment, then ran upstairs after Xuanxuan.
As the child and the dog left, the atmosphere in the living room grew quieter and more oppressive. Mi Wan placed the brewed Pu-erh tea in front of Shi Minjun. However, Shi Minjun acted as if she didn’t see it, her face remaining cold and unmoved.
Shi Minjun’s presence was intimidating. Though He Rou wasn’t afraid of her, she respected her as Ji Dongquan’s mother. She had subdued her temper and sat quietly, waiting to see what would unfold.
"So, what will it take for you to divorce my son?" Shi Minjun finally spoke, her eyes ice-cold as she glanced sharply at Mi Wan.
"I won’t divorce Ji Dongquan," Mi Wan replied firmly from the other sofa, her expression calm but determined.
"How can you be so shameless? You have a child with another man and still cling to Ji?" He Rou couldn’t sit still. Glaring at Mi Wan, she sneered coldly.
"That’s between Ji Dongquan and me. It’s not Miss He’s place to interfere," Mi Wan responded calmly. She had anticipated and prepared for such confrontations long ago; otherwise, she wouldn’t have agreed to marry Ji Dongquan.
"Xiao Rou is the daughter-in-law I’ve chosen for my son. How can she be considered an outsider?" Shi Minjun defended He Rou without hesitation. Even if He Rou was capricious and rude, she was, in her eyes, ten times better than Mi Wan.
"To me, Miss He is undeniably an outsider," Mi Wan said, standing up and looking down at Shi Minjun. "Take your time chatting. I’ll go make lunch."
Saying that, Mi Wan walked straight to the kitchen without looking back, her relaxed steps infuriating He Rou even more. "Auntie, look at her attitude!" she fumed to Shi Minjun.
"Don’t stoop to her level. One day, I’ll make sure she’s kicked out," Shi Minjun said, her eyes narrowing with a sinister gleam.
Reassured, He Rou’s mood improved. With someone as formidable as Shi Minjun as an obstacle, Mi Wan could forget about having any peaceful days.
After going upstairs, Xuanxuan didn’t go to her room immediately. She sat at the stair’s turn, curling her body and listening to the conversations downstairs.
Thump thump—
Kabi, curled up next to Xuanxuan, immediately lifted its head and opened its eyes upon hearing the faint footsteps. Recognizing He Zerui, it shrank back and then nestled into Xuanxuan’s arms as if seeking protection.
