CHAPTER 263: CHAPTER 263: FORTUNATELY, I CAUGHT YOUR EYE
So annoying!
Mi Jing irritably threw her phone onto the table beside her, considering whether she should go back to her parents’ house for a few days, leaving Shen Lingxing alone to reflect on himself. But as soon as this thought popped into her head, she instantly dismissed it.
First, if she suddenly ran back to her parents’ home, her mom and dad would definitely question her endlessly. Besides, she was terrible at hiding her emotions; her odd behavior would definitely be caught by their sharp eyes!
Second, she couldn’t continue this cold war with Shen Lingxing forever. Although she didn’t want to talk to him now, she knew they had to clear things up eventually. Otherwise, Yao Xinchun would always be a thorn in their relationship.
Sighing, Mi Jing felt even more frustrated as she thought about it. This bad mood had been overwhelming her for most of the day, making her unable to eat or sleep well, on the verge of becoming a resentful woman.
After staying in the studio for an hour, Mi Jing couldn’t enjoy her mobile games. After some consideration, she finally made up her mind to talk to Shen Lingxing, to make things clear. No matter what the truth was, it was better than quarreling with herself, fuming alone, and indirectly ruining her skin with all that anger!
Click—
Hearing the sound of the door opening, Shen Lingxing, who was sitting in the living room watching the news, immediately shifted his gaze. Seeing Mi Jing walking out of the studio, he didn’t say a word, just quietly watched her with a calm expression and dark eyes.
Sensing Shen Lingxing’s gaze, Mi Jing pretended to glance at him nonchalantly, then quickly looked away, continuing to ignore him!
The bag that Yao Xinchun had brought over was merely glanced over by Mi Jing and had been left untouched on the sofa. But now, aside from the throw pillows, the sofa showed no signs of that exquisite pink bag with the suit jacket inside.
"Looking for something?" Shen Lingxing asked softly.
"Did you take away the bag that was on the sofa?" Mi Jing countered, her tone calm, but her expression still cold, without a trace of a smile.
"I threw it away," Shen Lingxing replied, remarkably nonchalant.
Threw it away?
Was he trying to avoid the issue or hinting that there was nothing ambiguous between him and Yao Xinchun?
A bit surprised, Mi Jing crossed her arms, sternly asked, "About Yao Xinchun, do I need to properly understand her?"
"No need."
"Why not?" Mi Jing looked at Shen Lingxing, her tense face slightly warming up, showing less indifference.
"Unimportant people don’t need to be concerned with." As he spoke, Shen Lingxing took Mi Jing’s right hand, pulling her to sit beside him.
Mi Jing didn’t resist this time. Shen Lingxing’s words about "unimportant people" easily dismantled her inner defenses, making most of her resentment and unhappiness dissipate instantly.
"But you still lent clothes to someone unimportant?" Although some of her bad mood had vanished, Mi Jing still felt a bit uneasy when recalling how Yao Xinchun’s eyes sparkled while talking about Shen Lingxing. She couldn’t help but question him.
"It won’t happen again," Shen Lingxing said, wrapping an arm around Mi Jing’s shoulders, turning to look at her, his expression slightly serious.
"But she likes you." A woman’s intuition is incredibly sharp, especially when it comes to identifying love rivals, it’s almost always accurate.
"That’s her business," Shen Lingxing habitually frowned, answering blandly.
"Did she ask to meet you?" Mi Jing continued questioning, unknowingly, her tone and expression softened a bit.
"We met at the company’s anniversary event. There was a last-minute problem, so the staff pulled her in to act as a model." To avoid Mi Jing’s misunderstanding, Shen Lingxing explained truthfully.
Hearing this, Mi Jing finally felt relieved. It turned out that Shen Lingxing hadn’t secretly met Yao Xinchun; it was just a coincidence. Although some of life’s coincidences could be premeditated or wrapped in lies, she trusted Shen Lingxing and believed he wouldn’t lie to her.
Though trust was one thing, it didn’t stop or lessen her curiosity as a woman. So, Mi Jing asked, "Then why didn’t you explain when you first came back?"
"If I explained, would you have listened patiently?" Shen Lingxing curved his lips into a faint smile, which, combined with his handsome face, was so ravishingly beautiful that Mi Jing was momentarily dazed.
In a daze, Mi Jing stared at Shen Lingxing for a few seconds. Then, she blinked, leaned her cheek against Shen Lingxing’s chest, and hugged him without saying a word.
In truth, she didn’t know the answer to that question herself. Although she hoped Shen Lingxing would explain as soon as he got back, she might not have accepted such an overly proactive approach, especially while she was still angry—she might have overthought things again.
Moreover, after Yao Xinchun’s visit, one thing became clear to her: she was afraid of losing Shen Lingxing and worried about their peaceful life being disrupted now.
...
Mi Jing fell silent, hugging Shen Lingxing and burying her face in his chest, listening to his strong heartbeat.
Feeling Mi Jing’s dependence, Shen Lingxing smiled silently and tenderly stroked her hair with a doting touch. He asked, "Not angry anymore?"
Mi Jing didn’t reply, nor did she lift her face, just shook her head lightly.
"Hungry? Is there anything you want to eat?" Mi Jing had only eaten a little for dinner, so worried about her being hungry, Shen Lingxing asked considerately.
"Not hungry." Mi Jing held onto Shen Lingxing like a koala hugging a tree, as if she would lose him if she loosened her grip even a little.
"Do you want some water?" Shen Lingxing continued asking, with infinite patience.
"No."
"Something sweet to eat?"
"Not in the mood to eat anything for now."
...
After asking a few questions, Shen Lingxing fell silent. Initially, he wanted to say he was thirsty and wanted to get some water, but Mi Jing rarely clung to him like this, and he found himself enjoying it, unwilling to push her away.
So, they just sat quietly on the sofa, hugging each other. The television continued to broadcast the news, but neither paid attention to what national affairs were being reported. Even Yao Xinchun temporarily faded from their minds.
After a long while, feeling tired and numb from maintaining the same position, Mi Jing slightly loosened her arms around Shen Lingxing. Then she looked up, her focused gaze landing on Shen Lingxing’s chiseled jawline.
So handsome!
Mi Jing smiled, watching Shen Lingxing while secretly sighing in her heart. Unconsciously, she raised her right hand and gently touched Shen Lingxing’s handsome face.
Her slender, soft fingers were like a paintbrush, carefully outlining Shen Lingxing’s features. Shen Lingxing remained still, cooperating with her, allowing her fingertips to freely wander across his face.
