CHAPTER 83: CHAPTER 83: FIRST ENCOUNTER WITH PHOEBE WALKER

"Fine, then! Are you telling me I can’t even have lunch?"

Maxwell Peary put down his pen, his voice rising, his mood slightly out of control.

"Uncle~~~"

Nia Mitchell sounded somewhat helpless, her voice soft and pleading, with a hint of coyness.

Sure enough, Maxwell immediately found it unbearable, his lower abdomen tightening.

"Ahem, Nia, you..."

"Uncle~~~"

Nia interrupted him, continuing her playful act.

"I really do want to work diligently. I don’t want others to see me as a parachuted soldier who got into the Company through connections, with no real abilities."

Maxwell sighed. Was she accusing him of letting her in through the back door?

"Uncle Peary, I need to get back to work now. I’ll talk to you later, bye."

"Hey!"

Maxwell bellowed. She actually hung up on him; that little Rabina dared to hang up on him.

After putting his phone down, Maxwell walked out of the Office Room. Spotting the photocopier nearby, he randomly pressed a few buttons.

As expected... everything was working normally!

After photocopying all the documents, Nia returned to the 28th floor, carrying everything. The lunch break had already ended, and she had been too busy to grab lunch.

"Team Leader, these documents are ready."

Phoebe Walker glanced at Nia and casually took the documents.

"Why were you so slow? Do you plan to keep the CEO waiting in the future too?"

"Because there were too many people, I had to wait..."

"Wait for what?"

Phoebe’s voice rose. "You’re from the Secretary Department! The documents you’re printing are urgently needed by the CEO; *they* should be the ones waiting for *you*."

Nia clenched her fists, biting her lip.

"First come, first served. Besides, the photocopier belongs to the 27th floor."

She was just borrowing it; what right did she have to make others wait?

"Everything here belongs to the CEO. Do you need half a day to complete one task? I think you’re just fooling around."

A parachuted soldier is still a parachuted soldier. If there were a few more documents to photocopy, would she take the entire day?

"I waited there for a long time and could only start photocopying when they went for lunch. I didn’t even have time to eat lunch myself!"

Nia retorted. She felt incredibly wronged to begin with, and now she was being falsely accused on top of it all—this was just too much.

Phoebe’s eyes widened. What? Was this newcomer actually talking back to her?

"Are you blaming me because you didn’t eat lunch? Let me remind you, it’s working hours now."

She can just go hungry today. Serves her right.

Nearby, Diana Hill kept her head down, busy with her own tasks. She still hadn’t figured out the problem with that report, so she had no time to pay attention to anyone else.

She felt bad for Nia, but being new herself and having no status, she couldn’t help even if she wanted to.

"Of course, I know it’s working hours. I just wanted to tell you that I’ve been trying my best to do my job and I haven’t been messing around."

After saying her piece, Nia returned to her desk. As soon as she sat down, she saw several unread messages from Maxwell in her inbox.

"Total price on the first page, analysis data on the second, historical growth figures on the third and fourth, estimated price on the sixth."

Nia froze. Are these...?

Did Uncle Peary send her the errors in that report? At this thought, a smile blossomed on Nia’s face.

She quickly copied the details and sent them to Diana Hill without delay.
