The next day.

Lily Sloan was in the break room, venting to her friend about Finnian Lawrence’s insensitivity.

She was so focused on letting out her emotions that she didn’t notice the coffee spilling over from her cup.

When she reached back to grab it, the ninety-nine-degree hot water spilled all over the back of her hand.

"Ah—" Lily let out a scream, quickly retracting her hand, the pain piercing through her hand, and her eyes welled up with tears instantly.

"Quick, run it under cold water."

Luckily, Nora Northwood reacted quickly, grabbing Lily’s hand and putting it under the sink.

The water eased the pain slightly but didn’t entirely wash it away.

Nora called the driver to prepare the car for a hospital trip.

Lily gritted her teeth against the excruciating pain until they reached the hospital, by which time the entire back of her hand had turned bright red.

The driver had accelerated to the maximum speed, heading to the nearest top-tier hospital.

On the way, Nora had already arranged for a doctor.

Skipping the registration and tedious wait, she directly took Lily to a doctor’s office.

In just over ten minutes, a dense layer of blisters had formed on the back of her hand.

During the examination, there was a clamor at the door.

"Carter, Carter!"

"Gently, it hurts so much... hiss."

Lily’s eyes rested on the nametag on the white coat, which read Dr. Charles Carter.

The voice of the person complaining of pain sounded familiar, somehow?

She turned around and happened to meet eyes with Philip Lawrence, and in that instant, both forgot their pain.

"What are you doing here?" "Why are you here?"

They spoke in unison.

Dr. Carter, displaying his professional competence, told the newcomers to wait.

However, the boy accompanying Philip wasn’t one to be messed with.

"Got injured while racing, hurry and check us out, what if it leaves a scar!"

Dr. Carter felt a headache coming on and glanced at the injured person.

Clad in a tank top and shorts, with large patches of skin exposed, covered in abrasions, without any uncontrollable bleeding.

As a doctor, he could discern the severity of these cases.

"Sit and wait, everything follows a first-come, first-served basis."

Moreover, treating Lily’s wound wouldn’t take more than a few minutes.

Philip refused to comply, starting to raise her voice, putting on an entitled air: "Do you even know who I am? What if there’s a fracture, if you delay any longer, who will be responsible if something goes wrong?"

She was determined to compete with Lily for the doctor’s attention.

However, Nora was a fiercely protective person, unlikely to err at such a critical moment.

She called to the driver, "Francis, there’s a patient cutting in line here, take her outside."

Driver Francis was personally chosen by Jasper Sinclair for her, also doubling as a bodyguard.

Though a woman, Francis was decisive; she grabbed Philip by the collar, ready to drag her out.

When had Philip ever suffered such humiliation?

Her hands gripped the doorframe tightly, refusing to move, while her mouth ran on: "Lily Sloan, I will make you pay for this, how dare you let someone treat me like this?"

This time, Nora’s face darkened.

Did they know each other?

Thinking back, she remembered Lily mentioning a troublesome younger sister in the break room.

So, this was Finnian Lawrence’s sister.

The brother and sister truly were worlds apart in temperament, no matter how one looked at it, it was impossible to associate them together.
