CHAPTER 841: CHAPTER 841: REALIZING SOMETHING’S WRONG

Nora Northwood settled into the artisan handwoven moon chair, experiencing an unprecedented sense of relaxation in body and mind.

The place was suffused with an atmosphere of vacation.

Accompanying her was a small camera, with her phone tucked in her pocket, still on airplane mode, receiving no messages.

In truth, it was somewhat like burying one’s head in the sand.

The afternoon breeze blew for two hours, and Nora’s stomach began to protest.

She found a small restaurant in the park.

Given Nora’s current level of English, communicating abroad was not an issue.

She skillfully ordered a crabmeat rice and a refreshing fruit platter.

When the waiter asked if she needed a bottle of wine with her meal, she declined with a smile.

Although she was out traveling to relax, Nora was very aware of her alcohol tolerance.

Meanwhile, back in Stanton City, Jasper Sinclair was still getting no reply and had made several calls in succession.

Just when he thought something might have happened to Nora, a message slowly came through from her.

"Just had dinner, my phone shut down automatically, didn’t see your messages. All is well, don’t worry."

When Jasper saw the message, he was about to call back, but before he could find her number in the contact list, a call from the hospital came in.

"Mr. Sinclair, do you have time to come to the hospital now?"

"Tell me, what’s the matter."

"Miss Peach Bell discovered we put sleeping pills in her water cup, and now she refuses to eat anything."

Jasper felt an extreme headache and had to put his work aside to rush to the hospital.

Even the call he was about to make to Nora was postponed.

...

Jasper realized something was wrong only a week later.

He had yet to receive any information about Nora’s return flight, and even Louis Hayes couldn’t find any leads.

After ten days of silence, Jasper could no longer sit still.

He contacted all of Nora’s connections in Stanton City, inquiring about her whereabouts.

The result... no one knew her true location.

His last resort was Elaine.

Jasper had once promised Elaine that Nora would not suffer any grievances.

If he were to ask now, it would signify that the relationship had reached a dead end.

The office, with autumn setting in, had already turned on the heating.

Louis watched the man at the desk, whose expression had darkened to the extreme, not daring to speak, fearing he might say the wrong thing.

Such dead silence persisted for over ten minutes before Jasper spoke again: "Hand your work over to Liya and check all international flights. Make sure to find the city Nora went on business to by tomorrow."

"Director Sinclair, I fear..."

"I don’t want excuses. Use the Sinclair Family’s authority. I want results, do you understand?"

Louis swallowed, said no more, and immediately left the office to begin the handover work.

By this point, even if Jasper was slow to respond, he now understood what was happening.

Premeditation, it was all premeditated!

From the day Nora obediently returned with him to Crimson Hill Villa, she had been planning her departure.

All of the obedience, compliance, the occasional business trip... it was all in preparation for this moment.

Jasper took a deep breath, leaning back into the chair.

He felt a sense of lament for his slow realization and fear at Nora’s clean and decisive departure.

Had she truly left everything behind?
