Chapter 869: Lifting the Threat to Life
CHAPTER 869: CHAPTER 869: LIFTING THE THREAT TO LIFE
Half an hour later, Nora Northwood woke up.
She had been lying with her head on the edge of the bed, her arm under her had almost gone numb.
When she awoke, she found Jasper Sinclair had already woken up first and was quietly watching her.
Suddenly, her sleepiness vanished.
"Jasper, when did you wake up?"
Nora asked while pressing the call button at the bedside to summon the doctor to check his injuries.
In the span of half an hour, it was enough time for Jasper to regain his usual composure, showing no sign of bedridden embarrassment.
"Just woke up not long ago," he said.
Jasper thought to himself: If it were the Sinclair Family’s private hospital, Nora wouldn’t even lack a place to sleep.
Last night’s emergency didn’t allow him to choose a hospital, so he had to be sent by ambulance to the nearest hospital. This ward was already the best Louis Hayes could arrange for him.
The medical staff arrived quickly, hardly giving them a chance to chat.
Several precise measuring instruments were fiddled with in front of Jasper for quite a while.
Nora knew she couldn’t be of any help, so she stepped back, leaving space for the medical staff.
She dug her phone out of her bag to relay the news of Jasper awakening to Raina Sinclair and Louis Hayes respectively.
This matter hadn’t been publicized; however, the road section where the accident had occurred last night was quite crowded, so there was a chance that someone might have taken photos or recorded a short video.
From last night till now, Louis Hayes had been monitoring the direction of online public opinion, and he had prepared the public relations department of The Sinclair Group to handle any unexpected situations at any moment.
The Sinclair Group’s power holder being retaliated against by individuals frequenting the underworld...
This matter is not too big nor too small.
The media are experts at making things out of nothing. Once it’s reported, The Sinclair Group’s stocks might drop a few points.
Louis had already overlooked once, and he couldn’t afford to underestimate it a second time.
Otherwise, all these years of being an assistant by Jasper’s side would have been a waste.
Fortunately, throughout the entire night, no negative news or reports had emerged.
Louis let out a silent sigh of relief but didn’t dare to let his guard down.
As soon as he found out the Director had awakened, he left the company for the hospital.
He arrived at the door of the hospital room with Raina Sinclair, who was pacing back and forth in the corridor, just ahead of him.
Louis asked upon seeing her, "Vice President Sinclair, why aren’t you going in to see him?"
"They’re talking. There’s no rush to go in."
Louis quickly realized who Raina was referring to as ’they’.
Thus, they waited together outside the ward, separated by a door.
Inside the room,
Jasper was half lying, half sitting, holding Nora’s hand, "Nora, I’m sorry."
"Why apologize?"
"It’s my fault for making you worry."
Would he really apologize for this?
Nora almost thought the place he was stabbed was his brain, but quickly dismissed that idea.
She couldn’t curse him.
Avoiding the topic, she asked, "Is there anywhere on your body still uncomfortable?"
"No."
Actually, Jasper wanted to touch his chest, but on second thought, he found it too pretentious, so he let it go.
While he was unconscious, Nora was extremely worried, fearing they might never have the chance to talk again.
Now that he was awake, she found herself at a loss for words.
Perhaps it was just her imagination, but she always felt that Jasper looked at her with a gaze full of some unexplainable tenderness and nostalgia.
