CHAPTER 11: CHAPTER 11: HAS MY CLARA BEEN BULLIED OUTSIDE?

When Clara arrived at the hospital, she heard Yvonne Sterling say at the door, "Lawyer Shaw, I’ve looked over the drafted will, and there are no issues."

A man’s voice followed, "Alright, I need you to sign here."

Clara pushed the door open, and in the room besides Yvonne were a middle-aged man in a suit and a young man about her age.

"Will? What will?" Clara looked at Yvonne, her surprised eyes mixed with pain, "Mom, you hired a lawyer to draft a will?"

Why did Mom choose to secretly draft a will when she wasn’t around? Did she think her illness couldn’t be cured?

Thinking of this, Clara’s heart ached.

Yvonne avoided her eyes, "Clara, Mom is thinking about your future rights."

Clara’s eyes turned red instantly, choking back tears, "Mom, you’ll be fine, your illness will definitely be cured."

"Ms. Sterling, we’ll take our leave now." The man in the suit said.

"Wait a minute." Clara turned to look, "Lawyer Shaw, can I take a look at the will?"

Lawyer Shaw looked at Yvonne.

Yvonne immediately said, "Clara, you don’t need to see it now, when I’m... gone, you’ll naturally see it."

"Why can’t I see it?" Clara was puzzled.

"You’ll understand in the future." Yvonne gave Lawyer Shaw a look.

Lawyer Shaw and his assistant left.

"Clara, have you eaten?" Yvonne changed the subject.

Seeing her mom didn’t want to discuss the will anymore, Clara didn’t press on, simply replied, "I have."

"You haven’t been sleeping well, have you? You have dark circles." Yvonne looked at Clara with distress, reaching out her thin, bony hand to gently caress her daughter’s eyes.

Clara closed her eyes, feeling her mother’s touch, "It’s nothing, just dark circles."

To make her mom a little happier, Clara joked with a smile, "Mom, look, don’t I look like a panda right now? Hahaha."

The distress in Yvonne’s eyes deepened, and she forced a smile.

What will her daughter do alone when she’s no longer around?

"Mom, after I finish my finals, I want to take you to Veridian for treatment," Clara said, "My friend can help us get an appointment with a specialist at Luminar Hospital in Veridian. The medical level there is higher than Crestwood. Let’s go to Veridian."

Yvonne’s face showed difficulty, "But the cost over there..."

Clara squeezed her mother’s hand gently, "Mom, don’t worry, I’ll figure it out."

After chatting for a while, someone knocked on the hospital room door.

"Who is it?" Clara got up to open the door.

Seeing the face of the person outside, Clara’s eyes widened slightly.

"Clara Sterling, right?" The woman smiled, "I’m Quinn Hughes, you must have heard Isaac mention me, right?"

Clara’s face turned pale, "Let’s talk outside."

Saying that, she turned to Yvonne, "Mom, my friend has something to discuss with me, I’ll step out for a bit."

"No need, let’s talk here." Quinn Hughes pushed past Clara and entered the room.

"Are you Clara’s mother?" Quinn Hughes stood in front of the hospital bed, arms crossed, looking down at Yvonne with a face full of arrogance.

"Yes, are you Clara’s friend?" Yvonne’s tone was gentle.

Unexpectedly, Quinn Hughes sneered, her face sharp and mean, "Friend? Hmph, I wouldn’t want to be friends with a girl like her. Do you know your daughter became a mistress and stole my boyfriend? Is this how you taught your daughter? Shameless!"

Yvonne didn’t expect this woman to be so hostile, saying such things.

Also, she said Clara stole her boyfriend?

Yvonne was so angry her lips trembled, her eyes instantly red, and she shouted emotionally, "Clara is not like that! You’re talking nonsense!"

"Get out!" Clara, seeing her mom’s agitated state, afraid it would worsen her condition, quickly pushed Quinn Hughes towards the door, "Get out! Leave!"

Quinn Hughes sneered mockingly, "Clara Sterling, if you have any dignity, you’d leave Isaac. I’ve seen girls like you, aiming to marry into rich families, you’re dreaming! Don’t even think about it!"

"Get out!" Clara’s eyes were full of disgust and anger, pushing Quinn Hughes out with force.

"Since I could find my way here, it means I have connections in the hospital. I heard your mom has cancer?" Quinn Hughes smiled with glee, "See? That’s karma for you being a mistress. What you did is coming back on your mom. Watch out for your mom..."

"Snap—" Clara couldn’t hold back any longer and gave Quinn Hughes a hard slap.

"Get out!" Her eyes filled with ferocity, she shouted angrily with all her strength.

Quinn Hughes was pushed out of the room, raging, "How dare you hit me! Who do you think you are to hit me?"

The nurse heard the commotion and came over, "What’s going on? This is a hospital, please don’t shout."

Outside the door, Quinn Hughes started fighting with Clara, and several nurses hurried over to separate them.

Clara’s expression was terrifying, and through clenched teeth, she told the nurse, "She’s here to intentionally cause trouble, please get her out of here."

Seeing the chaos, two nurses pulled Quinn Hughes outside.

Quinn Hughes cursed as the nurse led her away.

Another nurse asked Clara disapprovingly, "What were you arguing about? This is a hospital, it needs to be quiet."

"Can your hospital leak patient privacy at will?" Clara questioned, "She said herself she has connections, I don’t even know her, and she found my mom’s room and knows what illness my mom has. Is this your hospital’s rule?"

The nurse frowned, her tone also unpleasant, "Why are you taking it out on me? I didn’t leak anything. If you have any issues, talk to our dean."

With that, the nurse turned to leave, muttering complaints under her breath.

Clara took a deep breath to adjust her emotions before turning back into the room.

"Clara, who was she? What did she mean by that?" Yvonne asked, tears in her eyes, her face pale.

Seeing her mom’s haggard complexion, Clara felt a pang in her heart, hurried over to sit by the bed, embracing Yvonne, choked up, "Mom, she’s talking nonsense. I wouldn’t do such shameless things, don’t listen to her."

Mom, tortured by illness, was so thin and frail. Embracing her mom, Clara felt her bones poking, her heart a mix of sourness and pain, as if her heart was being repeatedly kneaded and pulled by a hand.

Tears fell down Yvonne’s pale, thin face, her voice tinged with weeping, "Clara, I believe you’re not that kind of person, I know my own daughter’s character best, Mom feels for you."

Yvonne cried, "My Clara has been bullied out there, hasn’t she?"

Hearing this, the wall in Clara’s heart suddenly crumbled, tears burst out, and she buried her head deeply in her mom’s embrace, crying like a child.

"Clara, you’ve been wronged." Yvonne gently patted Clara’s back, just like comforting her when she was a child.

Clara is a girl with a soft exterior but strong resilience. She’s strong inside, and even though she was deceived by Isaac Sutton and bullied by the food stall owner, she never said a word in front of her mom, bearing it all quietly on her own.

At this moment, Clara was like a child bullied, able to endure without crying or fussing when no one comforted her, but once her mom knew and comforted her, she couldn’t suppress the grievances in her heart, and the more comforted, the harder she cried.
