Chapter 30: Mrs. Sheffield, Happy Valentine’s Day
CHAPTER 30: CHAPTER 30: MRS. SHEFFIELD, HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY
Clara Sterling and Silas Sheffield finished visiting the gaming exhibition and were planning to have dinner.
While walking towards the underground parking lot, they encountered two girls, and one of them exclaimed in surprise, "President Sheffield?"
Clara was momentarily taken aback and lifted her gaze.
The girl looked at Silas Sheffield in shock and then at Clara.
"It really is you, President Sheffield. I thought my eyes were deceiving me—what a coincidence!" The girl shifted her gaze to Clara. "And this is?"
"My wife." Silas Sheffield’s expression was calm and steady.
"Oh, so this is your wife..." The girl paused, then suddenly realized and raised her voice, "What? Your wife!"
Silas slightly nodded, "Yes."
The girl’s eyes widened in disbelief, as if she had seen a ghost.
With a smile on her lips, Clara courteously greeted the girl, "Hello."
The girl swallowed and regained her composure, "Hello, Mrs. Sheffield."
After Silas Sheffield and Clara Sterling walked away, the girl shook her companion vigorously, "Ahhhhh, President Sheffield is married! He’s really married!"
Her companion got dizzy from the shaking, "I saw, I saw, stop shaking me or I’m going to faint!"
"Ahhhh, did you see that? President Sheffield even carried a bag for his wife! That’s President Sheffield, Silas Sheffield! The man known as an iceberg, actually carrying a bag for a woman. I wouldn’t believe it if I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes!"
...
On the 36th floor of the skyscraper, the members-only restaurant, praised as a "sky garden," was exclusively booked by Silas Sheffield.
The Gaulian head chef personally cooked the meal.
The piano music was soothing and healing.
The fragrance of roses wafted through the air.
By the floor-to-ceiling window, the bustling night view was fully visible.
Silas Sheffield and Clara sat facing each other.
Even the air was filled with a hint of romance.
Clara felt her heartbeat accelerating.
She had never been alone with Silas Sheffield in such a romantic setting before.
It was as if she had returned to that summer evening when she first met Silas Sheffield at seventeen, and the world was so quiet that all she could hear was her heartbeat.
"Happy Valentine’s Day, Mrs. Sheffield." Silas raised his wine glass.
Clara was taken aback.
Today is Valentine’s Day?
Recently, she had been busy with her graduation thesis and taking care of her mother, completely unaware of the holiday.
Is it really Valentine’s Day...
So, Silas had asked her out today to celebrate Valentine’s Day with her?
When this thought crossed her mind, Clara’s breath caught in her throat.
When she entered the restaurant, she sensed something was off.
The vast restaurant only had her and Silas as guests.
Rose petals were deliberately scattered on the glossy floor, and the table was adorned with vibrant roses.
At first, she thought this was just the restaurant’s unique style.
Now she realized it was decorated specifically for Valentine’s Day.
Clara sat in her seat, tense and unsure of where to place her hands and feet.
"Don’t be nervous," his voice was gentle.
Clara picked up the wine glass beside her and clinked it with Silas’s, "Sorry, Silas, I didn’t know it was Valentine’s Day today."
"It’s alright." Silas’s voice was deep and magnetic, his eyes filled with emotions Clara couldn’t comprehend.
Clara’s heart skipped a beat, and she averted her gaze to avoid looking into his eyes.
The night, like flowing water, dyed his eyes a profound ink color.
Silas took a light sip of the wine, his gaze fixed on Clara.
Clara tasted the wine; it was superb, rich, and intoxicating. But she wasn’t in the mood to savor it. Her mind was blank, devoid of thoughts.
Seeing her nervous and awkward demeanor, Silas’s lips curled into a soft smile, his voice magnetic and provocative, "Clara is still so cute."
Cute enough to make him want to pin her down and tease her thoroughly.
Hearing Silas call her "Clara," her hand trembled, nearly dropping the knife and fork.
Across from her, Silas let out a low laugh, his chest shaking slightly.
He was in an exceptionally good mood today.
After the meal, Silas casually took Clara’s hand.
Feeling the cold touch on her ring finger, Clara looked down.
A diamond ring was slipped onto her ring finger.
"A Valentine’s Day gift," Silas’s voice was husky, "Does Mrs. Sheffield like it?"
Clara’s heart fluttered like a deer, and she replied softly, "I like it, thank you, Silas."
The man gently ruffled her hair, his gaze indulgent, "As long as you like it."
Clara lowered her gaze, her eyelashes trembling, "But I forgot it’s Valentine’s Day and didn’t prepare a gift for you."
The love in his eyes was undisguised, "Having you by my side is the best gift."
Clara suddenly looked up, meeting Silas’s deep, affectionate gaze.
Clara was almost swept away.
She kept reminding herself: Silas did all this because you are his wife. If it were someone else, he would do the same.
The untimely thought of Sophie Sheffield’s words crept into her mind.
As soon as Thea Tate returns, Silas will likely reunite with her.
Like a bucket of ice water poured over her head, the little bit of romantic thought in Clara’s heart cooled completely.
...
The Sutton Family, three generations of a prestigious family legacy, with the shrewd Madam Sutton ensuring Graham Sutton signed a prenuptial agreement with Judy Bishop before their marriage.
As long as Judy Bishop didn’t bring up divorce, she could continue being Mrs. Sutton, freely enjoying Graham Sutton’s wealth and resources.
However, she only had the right to use Graham Sutton’s assets, not ownership of them.
So when Graham Sutton offered ten percent of the company shares and ten million in exchange for Isaac Sutton’s lifelong happiness, Judy Bishop eventually agreed.
Graham Sutton acted out of gratitude, Judy Bishop for profit; neither cared about Isaac Sutton’s feelings.
Isaac Sutton resisted fiercely, but was met with a beating by Graham Sutton and a cut-off of his financial support.
With the passing of the old master and Madam Sutton, Graham Sutton was now the head of the Sutton Family, and no one could oppose his decisions.
Isaac Sutton ran away from home for half a month, but without financial means, he eventually succumbed and returned home to accept the arranged marriage.
In March, when peach blossoms were at their most beautiful, Isaac Sutton and Quinn Hughes were preparing for their engagement.
The night before the engagement ceremony.
Isaac Sutton sent a text to Clara Sterling using a new number.
[Clara, I’m getting engaged tomorrow.]
He waited for a long time but received no reply.
That night, Isaac Sutton fell asleep holding his phone.
He woke up several times during the night, instinctively checking his phone for a message, but still saw no response from Clara Sterling.
Each time, the pain in his heart grew stronger, and the last time he awoke was at four-thirty in the morning.
Isaac Sutton was wide awake.
Sitting up in bed, he stared blankly at his phone.
Moonlight cast a cold shade over the room.
Spring rain pattered, like silkworms gnawing on mulberry leaves, gnawing at his heart.
Isaac Sutton, being a native of Veridian, naturally set the engagement ceremony there.
Graham Sutton was a reputable entrepreneur in Veridian, and the invited guests were all prominent figures in the city.
Isaac Sutton’s best friends also came to attend his engagement banquet.
The event was held at Veridian’s finest five-star hotel—The Elysian Hotel, under the Sheffield Group.
