Flash Marriage With Mr. Sheffield: Go Away, Cheap Man!
Chapter 31: Did You See Clara Sterling Today?
CHAPTER 31: CHAPTER 31: DID YOU SEE CLARA STERLING TODAY?
At eleven thirty in the morning, Clara took the insulated container to the hospital to visit her mother.
The car was stuck like a dragon in a queue of cars near The Elysian Hotel, unable to move an inch.
Clara was stuck near The Elysian Hotel for over ten minutes, the car crawling at a snail’s pace.
A traffic cop came over to direct the traffic.
The Sheffield Family driver turned his head to Clara in the back seat and said, "Ma’am, there’s an engagement banquet at The Elysian Hotel today with too many guests, causing the congestion on this road."
Clara looked down at the time on her phone and said, "I’ll get out and walk over; it’s close to the hospital anyway from here."
The driver replied, "Alright ma’am, with this situation, walking might be faster than driving."
"Mm, then I’ll get out here."
The car was stuck at the roadside, Clara opened the door and got out, walked a few steps onto the sidewalk.
Luminar Hospital was only about five to six hundred meters away from where she got off.
Clara was dressed in a cream-colored trench coat with a short wool dress underneath, her long, slender and fair legs led down to the lambskin boots.
She was so strikingly beautiful that passersby couldn’t help but glance at her a few more times.
At this moment, Morgan Ford, stuck in traffic, showed impatience in his eyes and eyebrows as he complained to a friend over the phone, "It’s congested, should have brought a driver. Now, I can’t even get out of the car, damn it."
His friend on the other side teased him, "I had a foresight not to drive myself, hahaha, well, just stay stuck there."
"F*ck, I really can’t believe this." Morgan Ford irritably hit the steering wheel with his hand, looked up for a casual glance, and suddenly froze.
He stared at the slender figure walking towards him on the sidewalk, rubbed his eyes, "Damn! Am I hallucinating from hunger since I skipped breakfast?"
His friend on the phone asked, "What’s wrong?"
"I think I just saw Clara Sterling!"
"Who?"
"Clara Sterling!" Morgan Ford’s tone was excited and shocked, he had already opened his phone’s camera and started recording, "The girl Isaac played poor for at Crestwood U!"
"Holy sh*t! Really? Are you sure you didn’t see it wrong?"
"I shouldn’t be wrong, there can’t be two people looking so alike, unless she has a twin sister, but I heard Isaac say Clara is an only child."
"Quick, send me the video, let me see what’s going on."
"Alright." Morgan Ford sent the recorded video over.
Quickly, three exclamation marks came back.
[!!!]
[Whoa! It is really her! Isaac has been frantically searching for her recently, and she’s actually in Veridian!]
Clara Sterling was walking in the opposite direction of Morgan Ford, the video was recorded from the front, zoomed in three times, clearly showing Clara Sterling’s face.
Morgan Ford: [Should we tell Isaac?]
[Better not, he’s getting engaged today, what’s the point? Would he abandon the engagement banquet to find Clara Sterling?]
Morgan Ford thought for a moment, then replied: [You have a point.]
[I’m really curious how she ended up in Veridian.]
Morgan Ford: [Me too, damn it! It’s shocking. If I weren’t alone in the car, I’d get out and follow her.]
...
In the afternoon, the tedious engagement ceremony finally concluded.
In the banquet hall, glasses clinked as the guests enjoyed pleasant conversations.
Graham Sutton took this opportunity to chat with some bigwigs of higher status.
Judy Bishop, a socialite, was also chatting cheerfully with wealthy wives and official ladies.
Quinn Hughes was no longer the daughter of a wealthy family as she used to be; she was now merely a fallen orphan dependent on the Sutton Family. Nobody was willing to curry favor with her anymore, and as proud as she was, she naturally didn’t want to lower herself to please those socialites.
So, she could only go find Isaac Sutton.
Her gaze swept around the banquet hall, but she didn’t see Isaac Sutton’s figure.
In the quiet courtyard at the back of the hotel banquet building.
Isaac Sutton stood under a tree and lit a cigarette.
He opened his phone to check the text messages, Clara Sterling still hadn’t replied to him.
Just in the banquet hall, when guests were congratulating him and Quinn Hughes on their eternal happiness and early children, his mind was filled with thoughts of Clara Sterling.
Clara, where are you?
Why are you still indifferent even though I’m engaged?
Could it be that you don’t care at all?
Thinking about spending the rest of his life bound with Quinn Hughes made Isaac Sutton feel extremely agitated.
He didn’t want to.
But no one cared if he wanted to or not.
He originally believed that his parents loved him, but when it came to their own interests, Isaac Sutton saw clearly that they only cared about the benefits.
It seemed that only Clara Sterling ever loved him wholeheartedly without expecting anything in return.
Why did he lie to her back then?
He had personally lost her...
Isaac Sutton irritably blew out a smoke ring.
The white smoke was blown away by the wind, and the corners of Isaac Sutton’s eyes gradually turned red.
Clara, I miss you so much.
"Did you hear? When Isaac Sutton was studying at Crestwood U, he pretended to be poor and dated a girlfriend, after more than two years, not a penny spent, even let her work part-time jobs to support him, the girl went for pure love while he played the Japanese kind."
"Such a beast, I heard the girl was coaxed into marrying him right after graduation and even gave up her chance for a postgraduate recommendation."
"Alas, that girl is really pitiful, encountering a scoundrel like Isaac Sutton."
"I thought my brother was bad enough, but Isaac Sutton turns out to be even worse, at least my brother spends money on girls, Isaac Sutton is truly stingy, really so cheap."
A few girls gathered together, gossiping about Isaac Sutton.
The garden’s lush green plants blocked Isaac Sutton’s figure, no one noticed he was standing right behind them.
"I heard from Morgan Ford that he saw Clara Sterling today."
"Clara Sterling? Isaac Sutton’s unfortunate ex-girlfriend?"
"Yeah, look, there’s a video, it’s really Clara Sterling." The girl showed the video on her phone to her friends.
In the next second, a figure suddenly rushed out from the greenery, "Where is she?"
"Ah—" Isaac Sutton suddenly jumped out, startling the girls into screams.
"Where is Clara Sterling?" Isaac Sutton’s eyes were crimson, he grabbed a girl’s shoulder tightly, as if possessed.
"Let go of me!" The girl struggled, prying Isaac Sutton’s hand off, "You hurt me!"
Isaac Sutton let go, still staring fixedly at that girl, "Where did Morgan Ford see Clara Sterling?"
That girl rolled her eyes at him, "Seriously, dude, you’re already engaged to Quinn Hughes, just stay locked with her, why are you still thinking of harassing others? That girl is truly unlucky to be tangled with you forever."
Another girl echoed, "Exactly, exactly, you’re engaged, why go and bother people?"
Isaac Sutton ignored their ridicule and insisted, "Tell me where Clara Sterling is."
That girl sneered, "Haha, it wasn’t me who saw her, how would I know where she is, go ask Morgan Ford."
"Crazy." The girl shot a disdainful glance, turned around and walked away with her friends.
Isaac Sutton immediately pulled out his phone and called his friend Morgan Ford.
"Did you see Clara Sterling today?"
