CHAPTER 32: CHAPTER 32: TELL ME, WHO IS THAT MAN

After Valentine’s Day, the relationship between Clara Sterling and Silas Sheffield heated up rapidly.

It transformed from being slightly more familiar than strangers to an ambiguous state.

The day after Valentine’s Day, Silas Sheffield immediately flew back to Crestwood.

After returning to Crestwood, Silas Sheffield worked overtime every day, completing in five days what was originally half a month’s worth of work.

Zachary Lynch was shocked, wondering if the boss was going to make Sheffield Group the number one company in the world.

But soon, he understood why Silas Sheffield was working so relentlessly.

After finishing his work, Silas Sheffield flew to Veridian without a moment’s delay, saying he was inspecting The Veridian Branch.

Zachary Lynch thought to himself: If you want to go to Veridian to see your wife, just say so. Why call it an inspection of the branch?

Upon learning that the big boss was coming to inspect the branch again, the executives at The Veridian Branch were baffled: Excuse me? Wasn’t it just inspected half a month ago? Why is he coming again? Who’s going to speak up for us?

...

Silas Sheffield wanted to surprise Clara, so he hadn’t told her he was back in Veridian.

At 10:30 pm, Silas Sheffield returned to the villa, exhausted from his travels.

Sophie Sheffield was sitting in the first-floor hall playing with her phone. Surprised to see Silas Sheffield return, she asked, "Brother, why did you suddenly come to Veridian?"

Silas Sheffield didn’t answer her question and instead asked, "Where’s Clara?"

"Clara hasn’t come back yet," Sophie Sheffield replied. "She usually returns around this time, but for some reason today, she’s not back yet."

Hearing this, Silas Sheffield felt a twinge of anxiety, first wondering if Yvonne Sterling’s illness had worsened, keeping Clara at the hospital with her mother.

Silas Sheffield immediately called Yvonne Sterling’s attending physician.

The response was that Yvonne’s condition was stable, with no abnormalities, and that Clara Sterling had left the hospital an hour ago.

Silas Sheffield’s brows furrowed slightly.

She’s not at the hospital, nor is she home. Could something have happened?

Silas Sheffield’s heart tightened, his usually indifferent eyes showing an unusual hint of tension.

"What’s wrong? Is Clara not at the hospital?" Sophie Sheffield asked.

"She’s not," Silas Sheffield replied, dialing his phone as he headed out.

Clara’s phone rang a few times before it was suddenly hung up.

Silas Sheffield paused abruptly, a cold glint flashing in his eyes.

...

Inside a private room at a certain club.

Isaac Sutton’s eyes were red, emotions surging beneath his gaze as he stared unblinkingly at Clara Sterling.

That afternoon, he had learned from Morgan Ford that Clara was heading towards Luminar Hospital.

He promptly went to Luminar Hospital, parking his car in the outdoor lot at the hospital entrance, waiting in ambush.

Half an hour earlier.

At the entrance of Luminar Hospital.

Just as Clara Sterling was leaving the hospital, she was blocked by Isaac Sutton.

Excited and emotional, Isaac Sutton’s eyes turned red as he tightly gripped Clara’s wrist, "Clara, I finally found you!"

Clara Sterling’s back stiffened, and she froze in place, her eyes full of disbelief, "Isaac Sutton, what are you doing here?"

A layer of moisture covered Isaac’s eyes, the corners reddened, and he murmured, "Clara, I’ve been looking for you for so long, I’m going crazy..."

Clara’s lips pressed into a straight line, a flash of impatience in her eyes, "Let’s find another place to talk."

Seeing Isaac Sutton in this state, she knew if she didn’t clarify things with him tonight, he wouldn’t let her leave.

Clara lowered her eyes, sighing silently.

Continuing to hide wasn’t a solution either.

It was better to clear things up with him.

She was the one who was betrayed and deceived; what did she have to fear?

Isaac Sutton had done so many despicable things; if she laid them all bare, surely he wouldn’t be brazen enough to cling to her, right?

Clara Sterling got into Isaac Sutton’s car.

Isaac Sutton found a club and took Clara to a private room.

"So why did you look for me?" Clara Sterling asked, expressionless, her gaze cold.

"Clara, I was wrong. Please, don’t leave me, okay? Give me a chance," Isaac Sutton’s voice trembled with nervousness and fear.

Afraid Clara would refuse, afraid she’d disappear from his world once more.

Clara was enveloped in an aura that discouraged closeness, a faint cold light in her eyes, "It’s too late."

Pain pierced Isaac Sutton’s heart.

He spoke hoarsely, "I know about your aunt’s illness. I can cover all medical expenses, as long as you forgive me. I’ll do anything you want."

Clara lowered her eyelashes, "No need."

"Clara, don’t treat me like this..." Isaac Sutton took two steps forward, trying to reach her.

Clara sidestepped, speaking with a cold tone, "Isaac Sutton, I’m here today to clarify things with you. You feigned poverty to deceive me, toyed with my feelings, and cheated with Quinn Hughes. I don’t care about these anymore. I hope you can forget the past and give me some peace."

"No..." An endless sorrow filled Isaac Sutton’s eyes, "I can’t do it..."

Clara sat quietly on the sofa, her face calm, showing no sign of hatred or resentment towards Isaac Sutton.

Her demeanor stung Isaac Sutton deeply.

She truly had moved on, she genuinely didn’t care anymore.

The man’s eyes were red, his voice raspy, "Are you really... married?"

"Yes."

That single, simple syllable was like a sharp blade, mercilessly stabbing through Isaac Sutton’s heart.

The surrounding air seemed to freeze, heavy and suffocating.

Isaac Sutton looked up at the window outside, into the dark night.

His empty gaze pierced through the darkness, as if searching for something.

Did that girl who once loved him dearly truly become unreachable?

Clara Sterling finished speaking and stood up to leave.

As she passed Isaac Sutton, the man suddenly grabbed her wrist.

Isaac Sutton kept his head down, his expression unreadable.

Only his gloomy, cold voice could be heard, enunciating each word, "Tell me, who is that man."
