Flash Marriage With Mr. Sheffield: Go Away, Cheap Man!
Chapter 36: Be Good If You Don’t Want Her to Find Out
CHAPTER 36: CHAPTER 36: BE GOOD IF YOU DON’T WANT HER TO FIND OUT
"Are you possessed?" Judy Bishop’s face suddenly changed, "You just got engaged yesterday, and now you want to break it off today?"
Quinn Hughes’ face turned pale, her eyes filled with shock and grievance as she stared silently at Isaac Sutton.
Isaac Sutton said coldly, "The engagement was never my choice. I’ve found Clara. The only person I want to marry is Clara."
"That’s not up to you," Judy Bishop said firmly, "You better give up on that idea. You’re already engaged to Quinn. The daughter-in-law of the Sutton Family can only be her."
Isaac Sutton said without hesitation, "Then I won’t be the Sutton Family’s heir anymore."
"How dare you!" Judy Bishop was furious.
Quinn Hughes suddenly questioned, "So last night, you drank until your stomach bled because of Clara Sterling?"
Isaac Sutton kept a stern face and remained silent.
His silence was an admission.
Judy Bishop glared over, "Did that woman come to Veridian? Is she entangling you again?"
"It’s me entangling her," Isaac Sutton said, "I can’t leave her."
Sadness filled Quinn Hughes’ eyes, "Isaac Sutton, what do you take me for?"
A trace of guilt flashed across Isaac Sutton’s face, "I’m sorry, Quinn. It’s my fault."
Judy Bishop said coldly, "There’s absolutely no way for you and Clara Sterling to be together unless your father and I are dead!"
After saying that, Judy Bishop angrily slammed the door and left.
Quinn Hughes stood by the hospital bed, a cold glint flashed in her eyes.
Then, she collected her expression of jealousy and unwillingness, forced a smile, and gently embraced Isaac Sutton, resting her head softly on his shoulder.
"Isaac, forget her. Let’s just live well together."
Isaac Sutton coldly brushed away Quinn Hughes’ hand, "I’m sorry..."
...
To avoid Isaac Sutton who was lying in wait, Clara hadn’t gone to the hospital these days.
Silas Sheffield worked from home every day.
Clara Sterling stayed in all day writing her graduation thesis.
That afternoon, Clara Sterling wrote her thesis for three hours and went downstairs to chat with Sophie Sheffield.
Silas Sheffield just finished a video conference and came downstairs as well.
The two descended the stairs one after another, as if by arrangement.
"Strange, why have both of you been staying home lately and not going out?" Sophie Sheffield’s suspicious gaze shifted back and forth between Silas Sheffield and Clara Sterling.
Silas Sheffield said blandly, "Not feeling well, working from home."
Clara Sterling said, "Busy writing my graduation thesis."
Sophie Sheffield asked, "Why haven’t you gone to the hospital to see Auntie lately? How is her condition?"
Clara replied, "The doctor said her condition is stable, the chemotherapy is working well, and she can have surgery in early next month."
"That’s good." Sophie Sheffield suddenly turned again to Clara Sterling, "But before, no matter how busy you were, you’d always make time to see Auntie in the hospital. Why not lately? You haven’t answered me."
Clara Sterling sat down next to her, "Because Isaac Sutton came to Veridian. I don’t know who told him my mom is hospitalized at Luminar Hospital. Last time, he blocked me at the hospital entrance."
Sophie Sheffield was shocked, "What? That scumbag still pestering you!"
Silas Sheffield suddenly mentioned, "He’s engaged."
"Hmm?" Clara turned to look at him with a puzzled expression.
Silas Sheffield spoke again, his tone indifferent, "Isaac Sutton is engaged."
"What? He’s engaged and still pestering Clara? How low can he go!" Sophie Sheffield cursed and then looked at Silas Sheffield in confusion, "How do you know he’s engaged?"
"The engagement ceremony was held at The Elysian Hotel. I just found out," he said.
"They even held the engagement ceremony at our hotel." Sophie Sheffield inquired, "Who is he engaged to?"
Silas Sheffield glanced at Clara Sterling and said calmly, "Quinn Hughes."
Clara Sterling wasn’t very surprised.
She had long known about Isaac Sutton and Quinn Hughes’s involvement, not to mention Isaac Sutton’s mother personally visited to say Quinn Hughes was her ideal choice for a daughter-in-law.
Sophie Sheffield was amazed, "Isn’t Quinn Hughes the daughter of the arrested Benjamin Hughes? There were rumors all over the internet back in the day, saying she was a bully in school. I saw so much about it online."
"That’s her," Clara Sterling said.
"Tsk tsk, despite everything with the Hughes Family, Isaac Sutton is still engaged to Quinn Hughes. Seems like true love, huh." Sophie Sheffield paused and then realized, "True love, my ass! He has a fiancée and still harasses you, ugh! Scumbag!"
Sophie Sheffield ranted angrily about scumbag Isaac Sutton on behalf of Clara Sterling.
That night, after dinner.
Sophie Sheffield went upstairs to her room to rest.
Clara Sterling also returned to her room.
All three of their rooms were on the second floor.
However, Silas Sheffield’s room and Clara Sterling’s room were directly opposite each other, very close.
Sophie Sheffield’s room was at the end of the hallway, a bit farther away.
Clara Sterling returned to her room and wrote her thesis for a while.
Suddenly there was a knock at the door.
Clara went over to open it.
As soon as the door opened, a tall, long-legged man walked in, startling Clara Sterling, "Silas, what brings you here?"
Silas Sheffield’s deep eyes remained on her, his voice low and hoarse, "Yes, something."
Clara Sterling’s heartbeat began to accelerate, "What is it?"
The man said nothing, bent his head down, and captured her lips in a kiss.
"Mmm..." Clara stiffened in place.
With a twist, Silas Sheffield pressed her against the door, kissing her with both tenderness and longing.
Ever since their last kiss, Silas Sheffield always found opportunities to kiss her.
Sometimes a kiss on the forehead, sometimes on the cheek, other times a deep, passionate kiss.
Just like now.
The man seemed a bit impatient.
Clara Sterling was overpowered, her hands raised above her head, kissed until she could barely breathe.
Silas Sheffield’s kissing technique wasn’t very good.
But he had a deadly allure, charming from top to bottom.
Not just kissing, even an unintentional gaze could make a girl’s heart race, a simple touch could cause uncontrollable blushing.
Let alone kissing.
Especially when he initiated it.
It was deadly.
Clara Sterling had never dared imagine that the cold-looking Silas Sheffield would kiss her.
She had planned to keep her distance and just be contractual spouses with him.
Now it seemed Silas Sheffield had developed a liking for kissing.
While Clara was captivated by the strong and domineering kiss, the door behind her suddenly made a sound.
"Knock knock knock——"
Outside, Sophie Sheffield’s voice sounded, "Clara, are you asleep?"
Clara Sterling struggled to push Silas Sheffield away.
But the man’s large hands still tightly held her hands, showing no sign of letting go.
When Clara didn’t respond, Sophie Sheffield knocked on the door again, "Clara."
Afraid that Sophie Sheffield would find out she was kissing her brother, Clara’s heart leapt to her throat.
Her heart pounded wildly.
Being so close, even Silas Sheffield could hear her heartbeat.
The man chuckled lowly, pulled away from her lips, and whispered into her ear, so softly that only the two of them could hear, "If you don’t want her to find out, be good."
Listening to Silas Sheffield, Clara obediently stopped struggling.
The girl’s fair face turned rosy, her gentle eyes filled with shyness and timidity.
Silas Sheffield’s gaze deepened, his Adam’s apple bobbed, and his eyes grew more passionate, as he bent down to kiss her again.
Outside, Sophie Sheffield muttered, "Sleeping so early? How strange..."
Inside, Silas Sheffield kissed deeply with a strong desire, entwined lips and tongues, indulgently entwined.
Clara’s breath became ragged.
Sophie Sheffield was right outside.
And yet, she was kissing Sophie Sheffield’s brother.
This sneaky thrill made Clara’s whole body go limp, like an electric current running through her, spreading a tingling sensation through her limbs.
The footsteps gradually receded.
Clara breathed a sigh of relief and let out a soft moan, "Mmm..."
Silas Sheffield’s body suddenly stiffened, his voice hoarse, "Baby, don’t make a sound."
Or he wouldn’t be able to control himself.
