Flirted Wrong, Married Right
Chapter 10: Xiaoyan, Did You Really Get a Boyfriend?
CHAPTER 10: CHAPTER 10: XIAOYAN, DID YOU REALLY GET A BOYFRIEND?
"Did you like the movie?" James Grant had already unbuckled his seatbelt and leaned over, whispering softly in her ear.
The movie was a classic old film, "Breakfast at Tiffany’s."
"Not bad!" She had already seen it, but she deliberately said so anyway.
Her eyes were fixed on the big screen, not giving the man beside her, full of ulterior motives, even a glance.
"Is that so? Well, you enjoy it." James chuckled softly, suddenly leaning closer to her...
Evelyn Clayton gasped, and the movie scene before her eyes began to blur.
She couldn’t clearly see what was playing on the big screen at all, and even the ambiguous sounds inside the car drowned out the English dialogue outside.
Instead of shame in such a public place, she felt an unprecedented thrill, her whole body trembling slightly beyond control.
The next day, Evelyn Clayton woke up in James Grant’s apartment.
When James, full of energy, went to work, she was still languishing under the blankets, barely groaning.
She really didn’t understand how this dog of a man could keep her up for two nights in a row, yet be even more energized rather than exhausted.
In contrast, she felt like she was on the brink of death.
She swore that from now on, she must avoid crossing paths with James Grant!
This kind of thing might be thrilling, but if it happened a few more times, would she even survive?
She struggled for half a day but couldn’t get up, so she helplessly informed Yara Reagan that she would go to the studio in the afternoon.
Unexpectedly, Yara said, "Young lady, you’ve finally turned your phone on! Do you know, Matthew Sullivan was looking for you all night, he must be going crazy."
"He hasn’t gone crazy, he’s sick," Evelyn concluded.
"Indeed. And not just a little sick!" Yara exclaimed in shock, "Let me tell you, he’s called all your acquaintances, asking if we know who you slept with."
"You wouldn’t tell him." Upon hearing this, Evelyn’s brows furrowed tightly.
"Of course not. As if I’d tell him!" Yara said, unable to suppress a laugh, "Now the whole city knows he’s been greened by you, and they’re all saying he deserves it; he was such a bastard before."
Evelyn hung up the call and only then noticed the flood of messages on WeChat.
All these messages came from friends and family, who, upon learning she had greened Matthew Sullivan, praised her for ’a job well done’.
Understandably so, given what an asshole Matthew was, anyone who truly cared for her wouldn’t possibly think they had a future together.
She prepared to lie back down in the blanket, ready to give up.
Philip Lockwood suddenly called.
"Little Yan, can you come over for dinner with Uncle Grant tonight?"
Philip Lockwood’s tone was as usual, still gentle.
But Evelyn Clayton felt that if he was asking to see her now, he probably already knew about that matter.
On the way to the Grant Family house, Evelyn thought, she had already slept with someone else, so Philip Lockwood probably wouldn’t stop the engagement from being called off.
After all, forcing it would not bring sweetness.
If it was really to thank her father, there could be other ways to express gratitude.
In fact, Evelyn always found this engagement quite strange.
Her father had signed an organ donation agreement during his life, which wasn’t specifically for Philip Lockwood, so there was no need to sacrifice a son’s happiness as compensation.
Moreover, even if it was about gratitude or compensation, it didn’t necessarily have to be through marriage alliance.
When Evelyn Clayton arrived at the old Grant Family house, she realized that Philip Lockwood’s family was there too.
In the living room, Iris Lockwood was clinging to Matthew Sullivan, deliberately showing off their intimacy in front of Philip Lockwood.
Matthew Sullivan wore a sullen expression, lips tightly pressed, until he saw Evelyn enter, and his expression slightly relaxed.
As for Philip Lockwood and Charlotte Sterling, although their words seemed to imply they wanted to mend fences, their actual intent to sow discord was all too obvious.
Evelyn watched the family of three, feeling that they were truly eager, just waiting for her to call off the engagement so Iris could take her place.
As for the overt and covert hints from Philip Lockwood’s family of three, Harrison Grant remained stony-faced and unmoved until he saw Evelyn, at which point he beamed, "Yan is here. Come and sit."
"Uncle Grant." Evelyn sat down, straightforwardly.
Harrison Grant first inquired after her recent situation, then subtly shifted the topic, "Yan, have you really got a boyfriend?"
