Flirted Wrong, Married Right
Chapter 100: Definitely Not Marcus
CHAPTER 100: CHAPTER 100: DEFINITELY NOT MARCUS
It’s the first time journalists have encountered such a ’threat.’ They’re used to exposing others, but when have they ever been exposed themselves?
Seeing them still unmoved, Evelyn Clayton immediately picked up her phone.
All the journalists scattered like birds and beasts; she was actually serious!
"Can’t handle it." Evelyn Clayton sneered, glancing at the already stunned Iris Lockwood.
"Are you dumb? If you’re not scared senseless, come inside with me. Those journalists might come back and swallow you whole."
"Wait for me!"
Iris Lockwood grabbed her sleeve, eyes reddening.
But once inside the company, Iris Lockwood suddenly became ’rational.’
"Evelyn Clayton, what’s the deal? What’s with those journalists?"
Evelyn Clayton laughed out of anger, "Do you not know what you’ve done to attract those journalists? Yet, you dare to question me? The photos of you and Sheldon Zane cuddling at The Hot Springs Villa are today’s headlines. Don’t you read the news?"
Of course, she doesn’t.
Iris Lockwood fiddled with her fingers; she usually only paid attention to which brand launched a new product or which celebrity had a new scandal.
Evelyn Clayton sneered, "I knew it. If I hadn’t come down to save you in time, your scandal could have ruined the Starshine Project!"
"...What scandal? You’re so harsh! I was just playing with friends at The Hot Springs Villa, how is it so serious?"
Pausing, Iris Lockwood’s gaze gradually grew suspicious, "No, did you plan today’s events? Only you and James Grant saw me yesterday."
Growing more furious, Iris Lockwood almost grabbed Evelyn Clayton’s collar, "I haven’t exposed you yet, and you’re already throwing dirt on me! Let’s go confront those journalists and see how you handle it. They only know I went; they don’t know you and James Grant went too, right?"
Iris Lockwood’s unreasonable behavior attracted many onlookers.
Evelyn Clayton was just about to shake off this crazy woman when someone suddenly emerged from the crowd.
"Let go! This is a company, what kind of behavior is this!" Jasper Grant reprimanded irritably.
Seemingly addressing both of them, he actually only watched Iris Lockwood.
"It’s not me causing the scene. Why only talk to me!" Iris Lockwood cried with grievance, "You’re all siding with her!"
Evelyn Clayton only felt embarrassed.
"Stop embarrassing yourself here, go to my office to talk."
With James Grant absent, Jasper Grant, as VP, naturally took charge of all affairs.
Evelyn Clayton nodded cooperatively.
Inside the VP’s office.
Jasper Grant sat behind the desk, Evelyn Clayton and Iris Lockwood stood on either side, one silent, lips pursed, the other whining tearfully.
Though they hadn’t started to argue, he already felt a headache.
"Yesterday at The Hot Springs Villa, besides you and James Grant, I didn’t encounter anyone else. If it wasn’t you two who spread the word, who could it be?"
Evelyn Clayton glanced at her coldly, "The villa staff number at least dozens, aren’t they people? You cuddling with Sheldon Zane; only the blind wouldn’t have seen it."
"You don’t know what you’re talking about! Sheldon Zane and I weren’t as close as you and James Grant." Iris Lockwood lacked confidence yet was aggressive.
She decided not to admit anything, Evelyn Clayton’s words would be useless.
Seeing her stubbornness, Evelyn Clayton was too weary to argue, only asking, "What would I gain from exposing you? Putting the studio and The Grant Group’s reputation at risk, not to mention I’d be bombarded by journalists! You should consider who truly benefits from this incident!"
Jasper Grant agreed, "Iris, if Director Pierce is truly harming you, why did she just go down to bail you out? Instead of thanking her, you’re doubting her good intentions."
"Didn’t she make a scene too just now..." Iris Lockwood muttered quietly.
Evelyn Clayton really felt like storming off, this woman is unbearably stupid!
"But I can’t think of anyone."
"It might not be aimed directly at you, consider the consequences of this event, who benefits most?"
Once this thing escalates, Iris Lockwood’s painstakingly maintained rumor with Matthew Sullivan will collapse on its own.
She’ll be pointed at and gossiped about; in severe cases, it may even affect the operation of the Starshine Project.
Yet, she didn’t want to admit Matthew Sullivan could be so calculated against her.
Thus, she kept silent.
Evelyn Clayton had no such reservations, "It’s Matthew Sullivan."
"It can’t possibly be Marcus, he loves me!" Iris Lockwood bristled like a hedgehog stepped on, her spines all standing.
