Flirted Wrong, Married Right
Chapter 106: Don’t Worry, I’ve Got Your Back
CHAPTER 106: CHAPTER 106: DON’T WORRY, I’VE GOT YOUR BACK
"Yara, don’t worry, I’m coming over to have a look. As long as money can solve it, it’s not a problem. Just wait for me. I’ll be back soon, don’t cry."
Even though Evelyn couldn’t see her, Yara nodded vigorously.
As long as Evelyn was around, she felt at ease, as if she had a backbone to rely on.
In a flurry of activity, Evelyn returned to the studio.
Yara was anxiously pacing around the computer, and as soon as she saw her, she rushed over to hug her.
"Evelyn, what do we do? They want us to pay a million..."
"I’m here, don’t worry." Evelyn patted her back, "Let me see the contract first."
Yara had it ready and handed it over with both hands.
She quickly skimmed through it and immediately spotted the loophole.
The contract had a timing error, cutting their completion time by a month, so Yara couldn’t finish on time and was liable for a penalty.
"Evelyn, is there a way to solve this?" Yara’s face was dotted with two prominent pimples from anxiety.
If this wasn’t resolved, she wouldn’t be able to sleep tonight.
"Yes, don’t worry, I’ll figure something out."
Yara pouted, looking at her with guilt, "I’m sorry, you’re busy with the Starlight Project, and I’m dragging you back to solve this."
"Silly girl, isn’t this my studio too?" Evelyn ruffled Yara’s hair, "Let’s go, leave this to me. Let me take you home first."
After dropping Yara off at home, Evelyn headed back to The Grant Group.
Hopefully, the legal department wasn’t off work yet.
The Grant Group’s legal department was reputed to be the best in the country, spending millions annually on commissions for these lawyers.
So Evelyn thought of asking them for help. If the other party could exploit loopholes, so could they.
Luckily, when she arrived at The Grant Group, the lights were still on in the legal department. Evelyn immediately called James Grant.
"Can I borrow your legal counsel to help me with a personal matter?"
"Feel free to use them, or I can have Quentin Hale handle it."
"No, no need." Evelyn felt a bit embarrassed, using The Grant Group’s resources for studio matters was already awkward, let alone having James dispatch Quentin, "I just wanted to get your permission first."
The man’s deep laughter came from the other end, starting soft and then becoming a bright laugh.
"So you know how to be polite, don’t worry, I’ve got you covered."
James’s words were like a shot of confidence.
Evelyn appreciated the benefits of having a wealthy and resourceful partner, he didn’t mind her taking advantage.
The legal department of The Grant Group was known to work the latest hours.
When she walked in, two-thirds of the employees were still busy at their desks, and no one looked up at her.
Evelyn headed straight for Legal Counsel Lewis’s office.
"Come in."
Upon entering, Evelyn was about to state her purpose: "Legal Counsel Lewis, I’m here for a personal matter."
"I know. You can speak directly." Legal Counsel Lewis even personally brewed her a cup of tea.
Evelyn accepted the tea, feeling both flattered and puzzled, "Aren’t you going to ask who I am?"
"You’re the Artistic Director of the Starlight Project, soon-to-be Director Grant’s fiancée." Legal Counsel Lewis smiled, "Last time at the shareholder meeting chaired by the Director, I attended as part of the group’s legal team. You might not remember me, but I remember you."
"I see."
Evelyn hadn’t expected that her identity as James Grant’s fiancée could bring such convenience, and she chuckled softly.
Of course, Legal Counsel Lewis didn’t mention the most important reason.
He remembered James’s instructions to resolve her issue first.
Ten minutes later, Legal Counsel Lewis had understood the entire situation and carefully reviewed the contract Evelyn had brought.
"Firstly, this contract is legally binding. If you go to court, there’s an eighty percent chance you’ll lose, and then you’ll have to pay both the penalty and legal fees."
