Flirted Wrong, Married Right
Chapter 465: Arriving So Late
CHAPTER 465: CHAPTER 465: ARRIVING SO LATE
The familiar voice made Evelyn Clayton pause for a moment.
She turned her eyes to see Lynn Yates with a gentle smile, slowly walking in from outside.
Keith Donovan was behind her, smiling brightly, and very naturally pulled out a chair for Lynn Yates, letting her sit down.
"Evelyn." Lynn Yates’s eyes curved slightly, "We meet again."
It took Evelyn Clayton a while to find her voice, and she nodded with a light smile, "Director Yates."
Yara Reagan couldn’t hide her emotions, and her expression was quite vivid.
After Keith Donovan sat down, he began to check the expressions on Evelyn Clayton and Yara Reagan’s faces.
Seeing Evelyn Clayton as calm as usual and Yara Reagan slightly somber, Keith Donovan felt a sting of unease.
"Well, I’ve had some business dealings with Director Yates these past few days, so I invited her to join us for dinner." Keith Donovan hurriedly explained and worked diligently to pour water for Evelyn Clayton and Yara Reagan, desperately trying to change the subject, "What would you like to drink tonight?"
Evelyn Clayton picked up her teacup and took a light sip, saying nothing.
Yara Reagan wore a faint, insincere smile, "What’s good to drink? Evelyn and I have something to attend to later; we might have to leave any moment."
Keith Donovan was a bit taken aback and didn’t know what to say.
Tristan Hawthorne held back his laughter, glanced at Keith Donovan, then looked away, fiddling lightly with his phone under the table.
He sent a message to James Grant, telling him to come quickly.
Tristan Hawthorne knew Keith Donovan’s good intentions; this was to internally resolve the issues between James Grant and Evelyn Clayton.
After all, it was clear that James Grant and Lynn Yates weren’t genuinely going to get married; they were just maintaining a relationship temporarily to calm the family elders.
So between them, there was no need to hide anything from each other anymore.
"Don’t rush; we agreed to gather today." Keith Donovan laughed dryly, giving Tristan Hawthorne a look to help him out.
Tristan Hawthorne put down his phone, slightly serious, speaking warmly, "I remember before, wasn’t Evelyn negotiating a collaboration with Lynn? Now that you’ve met today, it’s a good chance to discuss the details further."
In the high society circle, no one can hide their partnerships and projects from each other.
So Tristan Hawthorne spoke candidly, and Evelyn Clayton wasn’t surprised that he knew.
Lynn Yates smiled and turned her gaze to Evelyn Clayton, temporarily saying nothing, clearly giving her respect.
Evelyn Clayton had a slight smile at the corners of her lips, "The collaboration is on hold for now. Didn’t I have some issues come up? So it’s temporarily on hold, and we’ll talk about it again once things are resolved."
Tristan Hawthorne, unhurried and obliging, responded smoothly, "I’ve heard about the matter too. Since everyone is here today, I can ask if you need any help, Evelyn. Just let us know; even if we’re not capable, finding someone to help is still easy."
Evelyn Clayton smiled and nodded, accepting the gesture.
After exchanging such courtesies, even if there were more topics to discuss, they had to finish. Just when Keith Donovan was restless, fearing that Yara Reagan and Evelyn Clayton would simply leave, the door of the private room finally opened again.
Keith Donovan’s eyes almost sparkled.
James Grant arrived fashionably late, the collar of his shirt casually unbuttoned with a small floral diamond brooch pinned at the neckline.
His coat was draped over his arm, looking quite casual, but any sharp-eyed person could see that James Grant seemed to have dressed up particularly well today.
Tristan Hawthorne took just one glance before turning away with a suppressed smile.
Keith Donovan widened his eyes, blurting out to expose James Grant, "You’re so late because you were at home picking out clothes to wear?"
