Flirted Wrong, Married Right
Chapter 477: Where Did You Go
CHAPTER 477: CHAPTER 477: WHERE DID YOU GO
Evelyn Clayton entered the meeting room without a second thought.
Inside the meeting room, Violet Ford sat on one side, while on the other side was Julia Lawrence, looking somewhat forlorn and disheveled.
She appeared haggard, with pale cheeks and vacant eyes, clearly indicating she hadn’t been well lately.
Evelyn Clayton looked at Julia Lawrence with an indescribable expression, remaining silent for a long time.
"I’ve brought her here for you," Violet Ford exhaled, "I heard Lucy Carter is back too. So what are you going to do next? You probably have some idea, don’t you?"
Evelyn Clayton nodded: "Thank you, Sister Violet."
"You’re welcome." Violet Ford waved her hand, "I won’t disturb you, I’ll take my leave for now."
Once Violet Ford left, Evelyn Clayton silently sat opposite Julia Lawrence.
As she sat down, the chair made a light sound, causing Julia Lawrence to tremble slightly, then slowly lift her gaze towards her.
Seeing the clarity in Julia Lawrence’s eyes and the frightened, wounded-animal look, Evelyn Clayton’s breath caught for a moment.
Evelyn Clayton had to admit that she always felt pity for Julia Lawrence.
But feeling pity is one thing; having to be tough is another.
"Julia Lawrence," Evelyn Clayton began, her voice slightly strained, "Where have you been these past few days?"
Julia Lawrence bit her lip, her eyes immediately welling up, "I, I..."
She hesitated for a long time, unable to provide a coherent answer.
Evelyn Clayton raised her hand, indicating she needn’t say more.
Hardening her heart, Evelyn Clayton’s tone turned cold and harsh: "Let me ask differently, what is the nature of your relationship with Soren Foster?"
Evelyn Clayton’s words were like a needle, pricking Julia Lawrence’s weakest spot, making her shudder.
"We are, friends." Julia Lawrence turned away, seemingly shameful of the ignoble past being mentioned.
Seeing this, Evelyn Clayton had a clearer understanding, "How long have you known each other? What kind of friends are you? How much convenience have you offered him?"
After a string of questions, Evelyn Clayton’s anger belatedly surged.
A cold smile emerged at the corner of her lips: "So, before you met Soren Foster, did you know he was the chief assistant to Summer Monroe?"
Julia Lawrence looked up as if struck by lightning; she shook her head frantically, tears streaming down her face: "No, I didn’t know... I genuinely didn’t know! Director Clayton, please believe me, there’s nothing between him and me! He took me away, only saying he could help me avoid my parents for a while, there’s nothing between us!"
Evelyn Clayton took a deep breath: "Julia Lawrence, I actually don’t care whether there’s something between you and him. In fact, if you really are together, it’s not a big deal. But whether you’ve disclosed company matters to Soren Foster is a different story."
This time, Julia Lawrence could say nothing at all.
She hung her head like a frosted eggplant, remaining silent for a long time.
"Are you planning to hide something for him?" Evelyn Clayton’s heart grew colder, "Julia Lawrence, you need to understand one thing. Even if that situation online ends up proving that influencer’s defamation was false and I take her to court, Soren Foster won’t face any consequences! Do you know why?"
Julia Lawrence looked up in confusion, staring blankly at Evelyn Clayton.
"Because behind Soren Foster stands Summer Monroe! Whatever he does, Summer Monroe will cover for him!"
Evelyn Clayton had no desire to explain the mess between her and Summer Monroe to Julia Lawrence, but she hoped Julia Lawrence would come to her senses.
"The only one who will get hurt is you. Because after this incident, no matter what, Gem won’t keep you."
